I'm honestly starting to agree with Alyson Stoner on children just should not be allowed to act. Period. Laws already exist, people break them anyway and the child suffers the consequences. As much as I loved seeing people like me on TV growing up, I don't want another generation going through what the people I grew up with went through. ESPECIALLY in working conditions like Disney. My lord.

@@losergoddess6277 yea it's easier that way. Hollywood is a scary place honestly and it's disappointing how rare it is to see genuine people in Hollywood.
@Khous-yg1ur2 ай бұрын
We'll see, I honestly doubt it. The only thing they may change are so many sexual jokes in shows, so it doesn't look like kids or teens are doing sexual acts on random objects. If they change that though it's most likely just to keep people from looking for the predators in the networks or production teams of shows. Let's be real, with how many kids and teens are in shows and movies now as main characters or reoccurring side characters, movie and TV sets are the perfect job for a predator to be near children and make them do things when no one's looking. Why? Because they're kids, they don't know what or where to be unless they're told or escorted by an adult. Sure parents get to be with their children, but not 100% of the time.
@anonymousfan10082 ай бұрын
You know at least with babies I read about this company call reborn dolls that makes real life looking baby dolls. Although they are creepy they can replace babies in tv shows and still pass for the real thing.
@Khous-yg1ur2 ай бұрын
@@losergoddess6277 exactly! People break laws all the time everyday and some don't even give it a second thought. Hell there are people that run stop signs all the time. That's breaking a law, but the ones who don't care and just want to do what they want, or have what they want when they want it, will not care about the laws, no matter how big or smallt the crime is. They just see the final outcome, getting what they want, or doing what they want.

Bridgit Mendler or some other actress should’ve been Sonny instead. She auditioned for the role but as we all know, Demi won the role. And I still think they should’ve turned it down. They knew what they were getting themselves into with their mental health problems and substance abuse problems and their music career and the Camp Rock movies and they could’ve taken as long of a break in rehab as they needed instead of adding even more burden on themselves by TAKING THE TITULAR LEAD ROLE IN A TV SERIES! And we all know what happened; the show got cancelled because of her. One of the things I hate the most is when a single IP is ruined by a single person’s terrible decisions. And this one of them. What’s even worse was that they were apparently assaulted during the filming of Camp Rock which was one of the biggest factors for their downward trajectory. If this was one of the reasons why you or some people hate Sonny With a Chance or just don’t want to watch it, I completely get it. And Disney needs to get called out on their misdeeds as much as Nickelodeon. I haven’t seen this doc yet but I hope they’re doing it at least a little bit.

Children who don’t have that same support system or financial security are more vulnerable. I think many kids hesitate to expose their parents in a negative light, as they’re seen as protectors. It's stories like hers which make me appreciate Daniel Radcliffe's parents a lot. They were very reluctant about letting him star in Harry Potter and that is an important attitude to have as a parent. Generally the makers of the is movies tried to make the filming process more child friendly than any Nickelodeon show. That might also be due to stricter rules on child labour and child protection in the UK (or back then in the EU).

Gotta give props to Demi for this documentary she made as it really brings light to what child stars go through and also expands on what Quiet on Set set out to do with how production teams treat the kids while Child Star is the other perspective of how stardom can essentially ruin them without the production crew’s involvement and has been doing so for almost a century.

The doc was so well done and I loved hearing from all of these former child stars from different eras and of different ages, but especially Drew and Christina. I love that Demi asked Drew how old she was when she was GIVEN substances, because kids that young usually don't go looking for it themselves. Major respect to Alyson for admitting that to Demi's face and Demi for apologising for making her and the others working on the movie feel like they had to walk on eggshells. I love Camp Rock but it's sad that they were both struggling so much at the time. I'm not a fan of JoJo Siwa but it's horrible how the network treated her after she came out. Finally, I love that they are determined and focused on helping other future child stars with these child labour laws.

My take on it is like most things people find shocking is why. This is not the first time these issues have been raised yet it continues to happen. And people still get shocked is beyond me. The shock will come when something is finally done, and you will have a child star talk about how fun it was to be one. We repeat cycles of distress in everything and never make corrections or learn lessons because if we did, we would not be "horrified" of the mistreatment of children in 2024 when child actors in the 1900s experienced similar fates. Nothing was "revealed" more stories were highlighted and added to the already long list in an industry that is greedy for money and always has been and always will be.

Ever since I was 13 years old, I felt envious when I saw young teens on Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and other movies. I was born with Cerebral Palsy. I use a posture control Kaye walker and a Rovi x3 power wheelchair for mobility. I figured having a small career on Nickelodeon or Disney Channel could help improve my social inclusion. My high school refused to make accommodations for me to take acting classes, chorus classes, and movie criticism classes. Now I understand why my mom and the majority of my family was so hesitant about paying for my classes and my headshots. I’m 29 years old. I’m currently finishing up my Bachelor’s Degree in Film at Bridgewater State University. If I was 13 again, I would sign with Disney Channel over Nickelodeon.

I was in so much pain during my teen years; I joined the drama department in my high school, and it completely changed me. I wasn't sleeping, I was failing a lot of my classes, and, because my father refused to let me change schools, I took up binge-drinking to cope, ultimately attempting to take my own life twice. So often, I am called out for supposed "crazy behavior" from those days, and, while I a hundred percent believe it happened, I can hardly remember those years, due to blacking out from the drinking, and just mentally blocking out the rest. It's been twelve years since I graduated high school, but I am still haunted by what I do remember, and constantly have nightmares about having to go back.

She told me that if at any time they don't want to act anymore, that will be it. She will never force them to. At this point, they have only had a few jobs from 1 month to 9 months old. I don’t think being a child actor itself is a bad thing, but safeguards definitely need to be put in place. It should be 100% illegal to brand a child and to use their real name for anything acting related. Like, their real name should not be used as the name of the show or the character. Social media kids, the moment these platforms are sending out payouts to accounts involving a minor, a finance class and a class explaining their rights should be sent out and required for them to watch and pass a test on. They shouldn’t be allowed to earn any more money until they take the class. I don’t believe parents should have access to any of that money and if they do, it should only be a very small amount like 10% or something. I also don’t think parents should be their kid’s manager either, but should definitely be along and aware of what the manager is doing.

These child stars should have had someone watching over them like a hawk, like Jenna Ortega 's mom Natalie did. I can truly say that Jenna is more better off because of that. It also helps keep her grounded .... .

Do we need to apologise to these actors for enjoying their work or do we accept the final product as flawless but understand that it wasn’t to make it

I want to apologize to the lord. I want to apologize for scoffing at his words. I was born with Cerebral Palsy. As a teenager, I wanted to star on a show on Nickelodeon to improve my social inclusion. My heart was so corrupted by my own greed and envy It never occurred to me that the people who made me laugh in my favorite TV shows were hiding their pain in their eyes, and the sadness behind their smiles. I want to recover from my trauma. These actors want to recover from their trauma too. I finally understand it. I finally understand that I’m graduating in my late 20’s because this is all part of God’s timing. Only God knows when I’ll be married, when I’ll have a great social life, and when my career will begin. I just have to keep trusting him. My prayers go out to Drake Bell. Hearing him talking about these horrible things was never going to be easy. However, I hope what Drake did with his bravery can help other actors speak up about any personal misconduct. Drake Bell really did prove to me that when it comes to being a TV star, there is a sense of darkness, that even the bright lights of Hollywood can never hide.
