In this video we'll be going over the strongest faction leaders in wows history, and in order for a character to even qualify for this list, they need to have been a leader of one of the races of the faction at one point in World of Warcraft's history, from vanilla wow on words, or a co-leader.

Malfurion has literally forced Archimond to retreat in a one on one fight and then caused a flood that drove the entire burning legion back for days this all occurred shortly after Malfurion had just started his Druid training and he has 10, 000 years to improve since then. He's gone toe to toe with Rag with only the help of Cenarius, the same rag who owed Thrall during Cata. He was able to wield a corrupted demon soul without difficulty and his power was used to cover all of Azeroth with the Emerald Nightmare. during Stormrage. Furion has feats incomparable to any other faction leader and should be above everyone on this list except maybe current Sylvanas and Amped Garrosh.

@@vasilije94 Not necessarily, Malfunction for all his power isn't a master of melee/close range fighting. He is very capable thanks to his transformations but in terms of raw skill there are other character superior to him. A powered up Sylvannas would be a tough fight for him, although as we saw in the DarkShore it looked like he had her cornered before Saurfang interfered.

Malfurion should be at the top of this list imo, his feats are MUUUCH more impressive than amped Garrosh, Sylvanas and Velen. Pretty sure they nerfed him in-game because they want to create a duality between Malfurion on Alliance side and Hamuul on the horde side, even though I think they shouldve used Broll for the alliance side.

Carine while prob shouldn’t be on the list, is probably the strongest warrior. In Warcraft 3, his war stomp alone was able to make a wall strong enough to block an entire army of centaur and he totally destroyed garrosh in a 1 v 1 while being an old man and emotionally distraught through out the fight.

This prison is so strong that even Lillian Voss, who was able to freely escape her prison cell when we first met her, would not be able to escape it because of its magical powers. You see, Voss would have been able to escape all the previous prisons like Tol Dagor or the Stockade using her abilities and just kill the guards to escape but I don't think she can escape magic cells like they have in VH. In fact, this is probably true for all the higher ranking prisons that will be mentioned in the video from now on."

Malfurion was also clearly winning against Sylvanas, even at a point where she had already been infused with the Jailor's power (though not to the extend she was at the end of BFA). Malfurion should have been above Thrall for sure.

There is soooo much about Malfurion that you completely ignored. Remember him causing The Sundering? Defeating a Sargeras-enhanced Xavius and then forcing Sargeras to retreat from the portal nearby? How about a storm strong enough to force the Emerald Nightmare out of Azeroth and almost the entire Emerald Dream? Surviving an attack from Sargeras? Pulling every demon (including Mannoroth and Archimonde) off of Azeroth and throwing them back into the Twisting Nether? You might say he had help doing these things, which is 100% true. He couldn't have caused the Sundering without the help of Illidan and the Demon Soul, or beaten Xavius without the help of Krasus, Tyrande, Brox and Korialstrasz. Much of the power that cleansed the dream came from a number of other druids. However, you did allow these types of borrowed power from Thrall and (argueably) Garrosh. But there's some INSANE stuff Malfurion has done without relying on anyone else. He singlehandedly drove Archimonde from the battlefield after Malorne's death during the War of the Ancients. He (without help from anyone else) created a storm powerful enough to make the Burning Legion flee for 3 days and 3 nights after Tyrande's kidnapping. 11:40 There is NO WAY Tyrande was on par with Malfurion. I don't know if saying that being the final boss in a raid automatically makes someone extremely powerful. Blackhand wasn't ever that impressive to me, even though he was the final boss in BRF.

I absolutely agree. Malfurion is on a demigod level of power.. maybe even on a god level.. just with his feats alone. There is noone even close to him in power level, maybe except Velen. Jaina and Thrall are just a kids in a kindergarten in comparison. Don't forget the fact he's like 15 thousand years old:D That's quite something.

@@Soekith We're not sure. Malfurion flies off after Cenarius is lost to the Nightmare. Yasera says he is "unable to see reason" and "all too ready to take reckless risks". Next time we see him he's been captured. We don't know if this was a 1-on-1 fight and how close it was, it might've even been an ambush. At this point Xavius is VERY powerful though. He's backed by an Old God and can draw power from - A World Tree - The Tear of Elune - Cenarius (and other victims) We see him 1-shotting Ysera shortly after. So yes, Malfurion got captured by the Nightmare (probably Xavius), but we're not sure how and we know that Xavius is absurtly powerful at that time.

Malfurion is definitely stronger. He was trained as the first druid by Cenarius a demi-god. He is not weaker. He single handedly orchestrated the defense of Hyjal in summoning the wisps to kill Archimonde.

I feel like Varian probably should be on this list somewhere. Both Thrall and Sylvanas considered him an equal, as did Jaina. It wasn’t until AFTER his death that the Horde declared war on the Alliance openly. A lot of major lore characters hold him in reverence too so I think there was a lot of implied power there that we never got to see. Keep in mind what it took to actually kill him...

Agree. There is another brand of power that has nothing to do with channeling some external force. It is the power of a leader that men are proud to follow to their death, a man with all the attributes of a true king. He is the source of his power, self-generated and hard won. Sylvanas feared him and did not resolve to march on Stormwind until after his son inherited the crown.

I think that is going to be explored in Shadowlands. On why he fell on the Broken Shore. From what I gather there was some meddling involved for him to die. He hints at it in the quest line in BfA where you try to help him figure out what happened.

@@cabrondemente1 since his first appearance in warlords, garosh has consistently been a beast not only in physical prowess, but in every other area, also, you can't use magic in a mak'gora to take the leadership of the horde, so all those fancy shadow priest, healing monk abilities and shaman powers are useless, as it would be a honorless victory and the horde would not respect you, and garrosh would grab and break apart poor vol'jin in a strengh fight

I'm sorry but based on lore Malfurion, Alleria, Turalyon, Anduin & Muradin should be on this list ( or 1 in Malfurion's case ), there's no way Bolvar, Lillian or Sylvanas could make the cut since what they did basically amounts to quest givers level feat. Malfurion killed a demon general, competed with Azshara with no issue, and handles world level threats on his own at the point that he had to be locked away from WoW for years- Also Bolvar in life != Lich King, and even there all he did as Lich King was lose to Sylvanas who has less power level than Vol'jin and just got op because of Blizzard going completely dumb with the story at that point

I am a fan of dbz but i always bring arguements and describe why some1 is stronger then the other. The real shitshow is when you powerscale different verses. @@razien9941 i dont think voljin can interact with the world of the living anymore. Pretty sure if he is powerful rn he'd used that power to help out saurfang and thrall, but he didnt. Also thats the same voljin that prior to his monk training almost got killed by one of garrosh's soldiers. Even lilian voss, apart from her massive body count, doesnt have many great feats. Hiru pretty much put her there because he likes rule34 of her. And considering he counted the lich kings undead army as his power, why not Varian with the SI:7 7th legion or the overall army of the alliance, and other faction leaders and their armies.

tyrande is the highpriestess of elune, she is the counterpart of malfurion, they are equal in strenght when baseline and tyrande got the massive powerboost of being the night warrior now malfurion could possibly replicate all feats that jaina and thrall had if he had the same conditions, as in artefacts and time to prepare, but he never really got the chance, so it isn't counted on the list

@@kawhileonard5320 literally anyone would almost die if you hit them with an axe to the back lore-wise. hit damage isn't a thing in lore unlike in game, it's not like you can hit someone in the head with a hammer and he'll take -10 000hp as crit out of his 25 000 hp pool irl, the same thing applies to lore. Arthas also almost choked to death because of some shitty green poison clouds before he limped off back to ICC, that doesn't mean he wasn't insanely powerful during his time as the lich king. Archimonde was destroyed by some wisps as he was attempting to destroy nordrassil, yet again that doesn't mean he wasn't extremely powerful as the left hand of sargeras. Also, Mannoroth, one of the most powerful pit lords that ever lived, got axed to the head and literally exploded. twice. poor mannoroth got axed both on azeroth and alternate timeline draenor.

There's plenty of powerful people who want Malfurion dead so I assume there have been countless assassinations on him from many different people from various factions of azeroth and beyond. That makes the likelihood of him encountering a one in a million scenario where an enemy much less powerful than him manages to get into a very favourable position and injure him relatively high.

Tyrande didn’t get abducted. At this point Tyrande would be way higher on the list. We know she casually defeated the mawsworn that tried to abduct her in the shadowlands pre patch. Jaina, Anduin Baine and Thrall could not even hold the attackers and they’re the ones who got captured, not tyrande. There is also the stuff we see in the shadowlands beta where we see she defeated hundreds of the Jailer’s minions before we come to find her in the Maw. It also seems like Tyrande was not tortured by the jailer like Thrall or Jaina for example. We are told her power is still growing too

None of my favorites hit as high as I would have liked, but based on the videos criteria I'm not sure I can disagree too much. However, at baseline power I'd have to put Tyrande at #1. Priestess (possibly the most powerful on Azeroth), Huntress, Frost mage (Elegy. v. Saurfang), anointed by the one true deity of Azeroth, 10,000 years to perfect her power. I'd add warrior but I'm not including the Dark Warrior power up. That combo looks hard to beat.

Anduin will become op with time though. He outpriests pretty much everyone and now he starts to dual spec into paladin stuff. I mean lore wise paladins were mostly common priests that learned to fight and wield the light and they roflstomped the hordes death knights never paladins are basicaly warriors with light powers and Anduin goes the og paladin build just imagin a Raid Priest that can also outtank BiS geared tanks and outdmg most dps and the raid group are main faction leaders but only when he finishes his training.

Varian could have been above lillian. Dude is pretty much has a wolf god infused in him. He was praised by orcs, killed Onyxia canonically, and took two blades to both his lungs and still lives, only to die when guldan killed him.

We could make it one race per faction, like Demon Hunters, but then it will be incredibly tricky to spread things across factions so that no race ends up with too many options while some races have none, while still making the class feel "iconic" to the races being given access, while also not excluding races for which the class would be iconic. Some of the hero classes I had in mind: Shadow Hunter - Darkspear trolls and Void Elves Blademaster - Orcs and Lightforged Draenei Tinker - Goblins and Gnomes (and here's an example of the complication where giving Mechagnomes access as well would make perfect sense but be unfair to the Horde) Warrior Priest(ess) - Zandalari and Night Elves (another complication, if we consider "Demon Hunter" to already be the NElf hero class)

Also lore wise healing prowess is actually quite rare and he basically battle rezzed half his army in the BfA cinematic. He's definitely nowhere near anyone here in battle prowess but I still think he's pretty strong

Did... did you listen to his argument? Thrall isn't that strong, but he had control of the dragon soul, which makes him very fucking strong, strong enough to blast deathwing out of the sky. Thrall by himself, like the current Thrall, would have no chance against Malfurion. Most on these lists are here because of borrowed power, something Hiru took into concideration when making the list. Malfurion is basically the only one here without some borrowed power.

Warriors in lore are strong but any spellcaster has at least 10 times their power level. Lore balances that out by having very few mages and casters and even fewer powerful ones. Varian is strong and a strong leader and 1v1 with no magic he will probably bash anyone's face in, but a single fireball can kill him(at least in lore).

He isn’t. All 10 characters on this list can do magic damage, and Varian cannot, nor is he immune to magic damage. He’s unstoppable in arena because magic is not allowed in arena.

Illidan should be on the list. Even if you do not count lore prev to vanilla, he becomes a faction leader based on taking charge of the Demon Hunters, even if it doesn't last. Counting previous lore pushes it from a technicality to a more acceptable range. While his strength and power are inconsistent, when you factor in his immortality and ability to overcome and shatter a Naru by himself, I think he would at least edge out Vol'jinn
