What about Aron Ralston? The guy got stuck for 127 hours and resorted to amputating his trapped arm with a dull two inch knife. They made a movie out of it!

what I am most astonished by is that these people could survive the unbelievable pain they must have suffered for so long!! I have had simple flu and couldn't get out of bed, much less crawl through twenty degree weather, eat raw buffalo, or apply live maggots!!! are we just weaker now, or were these people truly superhuman in their stubbornness to survive?! I love this one especially because I had not heard of several of the men. great work!!!!

What about Shackleton in Antarctica, Franklin's expedition to the Arctic, Scott's party to the South Pole, the plane full of soccer players that crashed in the Andes ('70's,'80's?) who resorted to cannibalism, the survivors of the Donner Party, Mary (not Laura) Engels in "Down The River?" The voracity of the Hugh Glass story is in question but worthy nonetheless but Ernest Shackleton's feat is far and away the most worthy of the no.1 spot. And it's documented and true.
@dylanmorgan27529 жыл бұрын
There can only be ten and they probably wanted less well known stories on there.
@VoidHalo7 жыл бұрын
Haha I just got finished telling somebody else about Shackleton's voyage. The sad thing is, when Shackleton returned, he was labeled as a coward because while he was off "gallivanting around the Antarctic" men were fighting and dying on the front lines of The Great War. Though he did immediately ship off to serve in the war when he got back. Which is amazing, given what he'd already been through. Don't forget Douglas Mawson, too. Simon actually did another video on him on Today I Found Out. But just about any Antarctic expedition in that time was an amazing tale of survival. Though Scott didn't survive, I still have tons of respect for the man. More so if anything. It's a shame Amundsen stole the spotlight from him.
@sebastianfandino75537 жыл бұрын
No one from Scott's party survived the expedition. They never gave up.. but the video is about survivors.

@solidcrock01338 жыл бұрын
Patrick McCurry don't act like I don't know that I am aware some people can still die despite putting all of their effort I'm not one of those dicks who thinks I can beat up anyone or anything like that, there are other methods of surviving a dangerous attacks other than pointlessly fighting and getting your body mutilated its just a matter of how its going to turn out.
@VoidHalo7 жыл бұрын
If you liked this, you should watch Simon's video on Today I Found Out about Douglas Mawson. That was hands down the most amazing survival story I've ever heard. He goes far more into detail about it. And I'm not being hyperbolic here. Another similar story I'd recommend that I don't think Simon covered was Ernest Shackleton's ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Those guys went through stuff that we couldn't even imagine. Much less expect anyone to survive. In fact, you can take just about any antarctic expedition from that time period and it would make an amazing survival story.

Ninnis was behind Mawson when he plunged into the crevasse. Not beside him. Mawson didn't realize what had happened until he looked back and saw the hole in the ground with a set of foot prints leading up to it, and none leading away. When he looked down he saw one of the dogs with its back broken lying on a shelf 150 feet down, while the hole continued beyond. Mertz and Mawson called out to Ninnis for 3 hours before giving him up for dead.

Men are men, and boys are boys. Which one are you? Loved this video. Okay, another family story. I was watching TV with my sister-in-law, who was married to my older brother. 200 pounds, massive, but a gentle giant. It was, I think, but I'm not sure, a hallmark movie, and I said; I don't know, but there is something wrong with the men in these movies, I don't know what it is. And my sister-in-law turned to me and said " they're girly boys", And I had to say "yes" she'd called it. Most hollywood actors are girly boys. But I want you men out there to understand, some of us women are not really interested in "girly boys". I don't want a "girlfriend", I want a husband, who will take conmand.
