Hi, kind of unrelated, but do you have tips for going down those types of tall, vertical body slides? Last time I went on one I bumped my head on the slide going down and it hurt quite a bit, and I'm trying to avoid that in the future. Thanks ^^

I love to see coaster focused channels branch out a bit. Water parks are like the little sibling of the amusement parks and theme parks but they are really fun too. I'd put the thrills of Deep Water Dive and Summit Plummet up against coaster thrills any day. Also, the climb up to Deep Water Dive is very intimidating, especially when you get near the top and the staircase starts wrapping around the exterior of the structure instead of the interior.

I saw the colours on Daredevils Peak, and immediately said “holy shit”. Since the slide is enclosed, I’d do it. The only thing between me and big slides is my fear of flying out of them. Just gotta beat the whole “fear of the ocean” thing.

@screamingallthetime You have a reasonable fear especially AFTER the waterslide from the early 2000s. No one reasonable is ever gonna make fun of you. Even I I don't think I'd would have done the slide in Kansas City and probably if my party(the people I was with) tried to make me I would've probably pitched a meltdown and if financially possible headed for something on the missouri side called Worlds and Oceans of Fun. At least I can be somewhat guaranteed a well engineered safe ride.

Wendy O Koopa I only really distrust open body slides. If I’m in a tube I’m down. My local water park has a fairly large open speed slide, like the kind that will strip you if you’re wearing a bikini and give you a killer wedgie and that thing despite it being fairly small in the grand scheme of things is still pretty big and steep. It looks like it’ll yeet you off of it if you sit a little funny down it

Here in Brazil we have many water parks, large parks and are yet to open 6 more parks by 2022. Kilimanjaro is surreal, impressive, very exciting and has the pleasure of descending several times!

To be fair, some of the water parks in Orlando are closed for the winter. It's not completely freezing there, but cold enough to keep people out of the water. EDIT: Apparently, Volcano Bay is open year-round with heated water.

Fun fact: the new highest trapdoor free fall slides are thrillagascar and jungle jammer (42 meters high) located in the dreamworks waterpark. The park opened just a year ago due to covid so that explains why it isnt in this video

Deep Water Dive makes me let out a yelp every time that drop door opens, plus there's audio of a beating heart that plays just before you're given a count down that makes you so terrified before you drop, even if you've ridden it many times before!

Twin Peaks at Cenava in Italy - the scariest water slide I’ve been on. Not huge but when the raft starts to descend it’s as if there is no slide at all - you’re just free falling. And it feels like you may fall out of the raft too.

I mean it does also depend a lot on the companies making the slides and the park's general maintanance. Companies like Proslide which built Dare devil dive, Kokiri body plunge, Summit Plummit, and Meteor is probably the most well regarded company in the industry in terms of quality and smoothness of their slides, though without proper maintanance that won't be good for long. And yeah the quality of the slides when first installed from the manufacturer as well as the quality bar with the maintanance in the years following that can vary widely from manufacturer to manufacturer and park to park.

The epilepsy warnings are great at the beginning! I don’t have photosensitive epilepsy, however I have regular epilepsy (just multiple seizures that happened due to a cause) and if that weren’t there…the discomfort and potential damage that could be caused to other epileptics. I grew up in Florida, the newer park of our neighborhood and the local high school are quite literally across the road from Universal. When I was growing up, the idea of a water park was defined by Wet 'n' Wild. Although I never actually went there, I preferred the water slide at Fun 'n' Wheels or going to the pool at the Marriott. Regardless it was historic, not only locally but nationally. I find when I hear about Volcano Bay, as interesting a place as maybe it might be, I still see it as the killer of a local treasure.

An overlooked benefit of summit plummet is that since it's at a family oriented waterpark, there's almost always 0 line for it.

The average speed of summit plummet is actually like 45ish mph, there’s a speedometer at the park that tells you how fast you go, and few people went faster than 50mph

The tallest water slide on earth used to be situated in the dull state of KS, at a Schlitterbahn. Due to physical detriment, the attraction closed for extinction. Currently the tallest water slide on earth (in Brazil) is taller than the "Leaning Tower of Perth" part of the Gravity Centre in WA (Western Australia).

The only one of those slides I've ridden is Summit Plummet at Disney's Blizzard Beach. But Deep Water Dive at Kentucky Kingdoms Hurricane Bay, the 3 slides at Universal's Volcano Bay and Dare Devils Peak at Coco Cay are on my list for sure.

Blizzard beach at Disney was the best day of our last Disney trip. We were there the week of New Years and it was crowded af, but one day the high temp was only in the high 60s so my siblings and cousins and I spent the day at blizzard beach and had it almost to ourselves.
