You saved my knee!! I started watching your vids a few weeks ago bc 3 mos ago i hurt my knee while running. I listen to your vids to find my symptoms (baker's cyst, all over knee cap pain & nerve pain on inside of knee radiating down shin, pain bending knee or putting weight on it). I started your exercises, even those that are designed to realign the lower leg bones. This morn, still groggy, I instinctively stretched both legs out straight, realizing too late I was doing it with BOTH legs. I felt a lil pain but felt my bones scraping my knee cap as they went back to where they were supposed to be! 3mos of agonizing pain, now none! Im walking just fine, like pre injury! The knee braces hurt me so i stopped wearing them. I can tell my knee is weak & wobbly, so Im going to wear a brace & start doing some strenthening exercises. Thank you for understanding knee movements, the diff pains & how to fix them. I do believe your exercises helped my bones to be able to go back in place. AND, Im betting had I gone to an Ortho he would hav did a knee replacement bc I hav been bone on bone since 2005, but it doesn't hurt, just looks bad. You saved my knee! PS, i broke the foot on same leg which left 2 toes partially paralyzed, how could you possibly kno that!!?

I'm onto my 3rd revision on the same knee in just 3.5 years. Make sure your surgeon knows what they are doing or you will end up in a world of pain like me. Im actually in more pain now than before my surgery. If you can avoid surgery, do it, as this is a horrible surgery procedure.

Fortunately, I’m an amputee and not using a prosthetic, this way I don’t run risk of falling. Had a problem with my pain mgmt doctor being in Albuquerque but not being able to send a prescription for controlled substance across state lines. Having been using a xtra strength Tylenol and Diclofenac. Had hip replacement 14 months ago and used extra strength Tylenol for it too. Almost three weeks out from knee replacement and have pushed through the exercises/pain. I ice and fortify myself right after my regime.

This was very helpful, I have had 2 knee replacements, both knees 3 months apart. This has helped me. My first knee replacement was not as bad as the second. However, this is week 3 after surgery. Hopefully, it will get better.....I hope to get back refereeing football next year.

Good luck with getting back on the field. My doctor was very clear and said "NO RUNNING". I did go back for one year after the first TKR. But knew that I was no longer able to "keep up" and always be in the right position.

Thanks for your reply Dr. Middaugh. I already had 2 steroid injections in my left knee. The first one didn’t work the second one help only for a couple of months. Have also been doing daily exercises but my knee continuous to be painful. Taking daily pain medications are the only ones that help me with my mobility. I have difficulty using the stairs and can’t walk very far. Even with pain medication it does not relieve the pain completely. The orthopaedic surgeon said my knee is worn. Many tanks again for your advice.@@epmanualphysicaltherapy

@epmanualphysicaltherapy
@epmanualphysicaltherapy Ай бұрын
Hi Maureen, we are so sorry to hear that you are still experiencing pain after a month and a half after your TKR. Pain levels can differ based on individual factors like pain tolerance, extent of the surgy or other conditions. Generally, most people experience a gradual reduction in pain over the first few months following surgery. However, if the pain is persistent we highly encourage you to speak to your primary health care provider or surgeon about it.

Doctors may not always ask if you have sensitivity to metals like nickel in cheap jewelry. I told mine and he took it seriously. I got a blood test (not covered by my insurance) but very happy I did. I was off the charts sensitive to what is in the titanium. Later on, I might have had to take it out. But, seeing the allergy report, he ordered a ceramic zirconium implant. It's lighter weight and longer lasting. Often given to young people for that reason. It's a Smith and Nephew

I must completely disagree with you regarding skiing and other related physical activities. In fact I rejected two orthopedic knee specialists to perform my two knee replacements due to their recommending for me to not ski or cycle ever again. I ultimately chose a fellow skier to perform my procedure because he knew that I could get back on the mountains again with the proper physical therapy. What’s the point of getting a brand new knee if you can’t return to the activities that you love to do? Yes there are risks but the knee replacements parts aren’t fragile, your bones are! You’re doing an awful lot of fear mongering here. Everyone is different and you can’t generalize what you can and cannot do post knee replacement. That’s up to the individual!

Agree 100% I had my knees replaced in May and June of ‘22 (over age 65). Was skiing in January ‘23. My doc was all for it - has pics of people skiing post tkr in his office. I also cycle. As for kneeling, a bit of “discomfort” pales in comparison to the pain pre tkr so not an issue. I would recommend going into the surgery in the best possible shape - so called prehab. I exercised right up until the morning of surgery. Weight training gave me the upper body strength I needed to get out of chairs, down and up from the floor and comfortably using the walker and cane.
