@@Paynos Also a pen and paper, just in case you do accidentally hit a parked car. Even if it looks there's no damage, it's common courtesy to leave at least your name and phone number so they can still call you later if they feel the need to. (I learned this the hard way - accidentally hit a parked van once, even though it technically wasn't in a legal parking space, and had to wait around for the owner as I didn't have a pen and paper with me. Luckily, the owner was very understanding, and there was no damage at all to either his van or my car, so we didn't take it any further.) Also I'm pretty sure it's illegal to not give your details.

Emergency Jump Box - Has battery, plugs, some have ubs ports, radio, flashlight and... jumper cables. And there are reflective triangles that are compact/ fold for storage; for visibly. Its safer for everyone to be able to be independent and help... themselves- if problems should occur. I dated a guy that had the tools plus also had a huge duffle bag in the trunk that had a mag flashlight, glow sticks, swiss army knife, first aid... all kinds of stuff - the works! And... 3 types of extra clothes/ shoes- packed up 1 of each: Rags/Work, Comfort/ Casual and Dress/ Suit etire. And everything to detail a car. Sitting in traffic or waiting some where? he would just bust out the stuff and start detailing the interior. A very clean, organized and prepared type person. At first I thought how odd... 1) Some high-carbohydrate food with a long shelf life like M&M's to stay awake-and-thinking when exhausted. Goes well enough with water, but having an energy drink at hand as well is much better in this case. 2) A reflective yellow jacket is a life saver at the night roads. 3) A pair of protective gloves. They'll come in handy while changing a flat tire and they are absolutely critical if you need to use fire extinguisher. On the latter - a 2.5l CO2 extinguisher is usually enough to put out a bonnet fire. Compared to a powder extinguisher, it requires far less practice to use properly (beware of frostbites though, hence the gloves), is much more effective in closed spaces and leaves no mess to clean up. 4) A phone charger with 12V-to-USB is a great convenience feature and will not leave you with a dead phone on the roadside as well. 5) A dashcam. 6) Wet wipes for hands. Towels? Agree, it's already one of the most critical things, especially for vapers, especially in a car. Jack and tire lever? Make sure they aren't made out of chinesium alloy and will not drop your car while changing a flat tire. WD40 and a duct tape? For me it's a silicone spray, duct tape and nylon zip ties. On the liquids - a small bottle of motor oil and a gallon or two of washer fluid are really essential. I'd add a small (250-500ml) SEALED bottle of brake fluid, just in case.

Just like to add to the fire extinguisher point - You should never open the car bonnet if the engine is on fire as it can make it worse due to increasing the amount of Oxygen the fire will receive then making the situation. I have witnessed a situation like this before whilst out on a grocery shop and the staff were lucky due to the amount of staff on the scene armed with fire extinguishers. You should also only carry CO2 and Powder Extinguishers due to Engine oil and other liquids in the the car. :)

If you get pulled by a cop for a minor offence because you've triggered his spider senses and either fail the attitude test or you are clean and they can't make the pull stick, they will look for the stupidest of minor details. I had major shit of an unmarked cop having a bad day when he pulled me for driving "erratically" and i was a bit sarcastic about the diesel spill i drove around. I was on a tidy but old (1992/K plate) cruiser style bike. My plate was legal for pre 2001 vehicles which just specified letter size, letter spacing and border, but smaller than the barn doors of modern plates. He didn't understand my tyre sizes. Was flummoxed by there being no dip stick and no oil visible in the inspection window (bike on sidestand duh) and it was only when he went to get a pressure gauge out of the car that his partner realised the shit he was pulling, got out and attempted to save face by "letting me off with an informal warning". Don't make the day of a irritated cop by letting the stupid things slide. And keep at least a photocopy of your driving licence and a printout of your insurance certificate somewhere, it goes a long way to passing the attitude test.

Some good things to keep handy in your car, but you did miss a few i think. Sunglasses- for those rare sunny days in the UK, nothing worse than being blinded by the sun whilst driving. Umberella- for the more common rainy days in the UK. Spare change (lots of pennies) - for when you inevitably go over the mark when filling your tank. And lastly a decent front and rear Dashcam- basically because dickheads drive our roads too, don't get caught short in an accident. Hope this helps the new drivers out there.

MotionPlays i failed as soon as i left the test centre on a roundabout because someone was going to leave the roundabout so i pulled out but they changed their mind suddenly and carried on through the roundabout so the examiner slammed on the brakes. i was doing so well in my lessons but i don't really know now. made me feel a bit crap now lol

Paynos I Know its ur choice but I just thought I'd say... if ur looking for a brand new car I'd say go for the same car but 1 year old or even 2 years old because it bumps a few grand off the price. By the looks of things the Ibiza should last u much longer though as they r reliable cars!

So many people get this wrong!!!!! Don't keep plastic water bottlesnin your car as harmful chemicals get into it, especially when it's warm. Get some glass bottles instead. BIG NO NO!
