Hello sir, congrats for you lucky in breeding them.. I need to know how you top off your sulawesi shrimp tank? Is that during top off using ro water i need use the saltyshirmp mineral for them? I have try topp off using ro water and mineral salty shrimp but the gh was high and this shrimp cant molt and if i only topp of with ro water o nly without using mineral shrimp will die because the tds meter reading was drop to low.. RW Aquarium Pages same as me i mix up saltyshirmp during topp off at 30tds and slowly try pour the water after 3 days my shrimp will die one tail and i have test dripping method also same thing.. I dont know what are the issue as i check my kh was 3 gh was 8..amonia 0

What about a larger 100 gallon aquarium? Would the Sulawesi Cardinal Shrimp do will in a tank that size? If I was to add 80-100 shrimp? Or do they just feel safer in a smaller tank?

i'm currently setting up a 50g to test this theory. I'd start with a smaller tank to grow them out first and then move to a 100g, but i'm sure it'll be ok for sure as 100g will be more stable

Hi, am setting my 20l tank for denerlee and trying to get my TDS close to 150, the instruction said a scoop would sufficient to treat 20l of water, I’ve been adding 3 scoop to 20l water all together into my tank had been running 2 week only showing 130TDS. Also recommended set the water to 220 +-40 microsiemens and there’s different reading btwn microsiemens and TDS by compare it’s only 115-140TDS. I have also studied that TDS reading from lake Tuwoti are only 73tds 146 microsiemens. I’ve been doing some data comparison it’s kinda not matching. What’s your point of view? i believe the approx range and consistency is key and not chasing numbers. It depends on the type of remineralizer you use, different brands have different effects. I personally scoop until 150tds and my sulawesi shrimps are happy and breeding. remember key is patience and consistency, if you keep changing or chasing numbers or parameters, it will stress them out. Ray Wong , Thanks. I used salty shrimp 8.5 like your recommendation, just roughly how many scoop/gram you used to dilute your mixture to make perfect 20l?. It’s my first shrimp tank sometimes my heads go koo koo, or maybe the salt mixture suggestion are at fault. Also my salt kinda lumpy, is that normal? probably had been long in storage.

@@elgonchan7158 for about 5L i use my own measuring scoop, about 1/8 scoop it gets me to tds of around 150ppm. i mix it in hot water in a little glass first then pour it into a bucket then i use a powerhead to stir for 7 days

So I am about to start my Sulawesi attempt but my major question is Salty shrimps 8.5 OR shrimp king sulawesi salt? I see that you use the 8.5 but I understand it's hard to dissolve. If you think I should choose salty shrimp 8.5 can you please clarify your method? you just boil the required dosage in RO? how long? do you treat it somehow after boiling? Thanks so much in advance

I use hot water not boiling water mix it in a bucket with powered for 24 hours and then do the water changes Thanks for the support

@@Stelkoukos I don't keep it warm because I only change 5%, even if it's not fully dissolved it's still safe to perform the water change, the cloudiness will clear up pretty fast. Thanks for the support

Sulawesi shrimp very sensitives and thats make them hard to breed, and there is no breeder in Indonesia, main supplier of sulawesi shrimp still catch it from wild (make them more hard to breed). Hi RW, I have noticed the coloration of your sulawesi are much more dark red than some others I have seen, which are more light red and more transparent, how do you get the beautiful coloration on your shrimps? Also do you cull sulawesi shrimp like you could caridina? Thanks

Thx for the comment. The super bright red ones are typically fresh wild caught ones. I think it's because of the sun and lots of nutrients for the shrimp to feed. I'm getting a batch of wild caught ones in about 2 months time and I'll show thr difference. This will add more genetic diversity to my home bred ones. You van selectively breed for a specific trait like galaxy pattern or darker or lighter red colours. Hope that helps.

I think it's likely to do with their genetics. If you consider the first collected specimens would have been the brightest coloured. Over time due to collection of wild individuals and predation from the invasive flowerhorn cichlid their colouration would have decreased dramatically. Also consider that sellers are more likely to sell off duller coloured shrimps and keep the most vibrant individuals for their future breeders.
