That Topeak pump is $150++. You can get a decent compressor and all kinds of attachments along with a prestaflator for the same price. An analog Prestaflator is $39. If you want digital, $79. The pump is portable, but not like you can take it out on the trails. You still end up having to have a mini pump with you. Maybe if the pump was $80, you could consider it an alternative to a compressor. But all that pump can do is pump up bike tires. It can't run air tools, it can't be used as compressed air for bike cleaning and maintenance tasks. A compressor and a Prestaflator is the ultimate solution.

Park Tool tools are right on the border of being really nice and worth the money and outrageously expensive. That cable routing kit is $62 for instance, but I bet it works perfectly.

Zaiyetz can get the same result with a cheap, but decently strong magnet and a length of string.

He says the magnet is super strong but to be honest I found it a bit on the weak side. Fortunately there are much stronger magnets that you can use

Guy who runs my local shop got the tool and hated it. He finds using a bit of string, a bit of tape, and a strong vaccuum works much better. And it is free considering most people have them already.

I can do a lot on the bike with my 20 in 1 multi tool. One of the most handy bits of kit I have is the Shimano brake bleed funnel. Even when I'm fitting new brakes I put the funnel on and put a little mineral oil in there. Makes it a lot easier to push the pistons back and I can 'pump' the brake lever to remove any air bubbles.

@rbc51502 жыл бұрын
NOOO ! Don’t use multi-tool allen or torx keys. You have a much bigger chance of rounding the bolts with these. Buy a decent set of single keys. A multi tool should be for the trail only in an emergency because it is small to carry.

A chain checker for 45 dollars? No thanks, especially since the device can only be used for this one purpose. I'd rather buy a sliding gauge, set it to 108 millimeters, put the ends in the chain links and pull the caliper apart. When it exceeds 108.8 millimeters, I know it's time to replace the chain. This caliper, if I buy it cheap, costs me $25. And I can use it for all sorts of things. Expensive chain-pliers? No thanks. Any needle nose pliers will do the job just as well. If I don't have needle nose pliers I take a shoelace, twist that around the chain link, give it a quick yank - and the chain lock pops open. Cable routing kit for 70 dollars? Ouch. You can get one of those in the electrical department of any hardware store for $10.

What’s the top part of the chain whip for? I never understood that the chain is useless it seems
@ilikerealflight7 жыл бұрын
The whole point of a chain whip is to have a tool that grabs onto your cassette so that you can either unscrew it or screw it in. In the handle of the park tool chain whips is a wrench kinda hole that perfectly fits around a cassette tool

Have them all, important to have high quality cone wrenches because they are so thin they get rounded easily. I would add a good set of snapping cable clamps, trying to cut with a dull one will un-thread the cable and reduce the life span. Also a spoke wrench to re tension and straighten the rims and a piece of wood paired with a regular hammer to tap loose or insert components that have a tight fit (like cranks)
