Wow, Crow Country hit me with some crazy nostalgia. Reminds me a bit of the Dreamcast aesthetics. I still play Power Stone and Skies of Arcadia.

Mullet Mad Jack - I like the visuals in this one even though not normally a FPS genre fan. Has a nice vibrant colour scheme and humour in the designs. Skald: Against The Black Priory - As you say, the graphics are pixel art heaven with tons of character and spark the imagination of fantasy and magic and more and then wraps up some classic CRPG party-turn-based gameplay old-school. If it pulls the gameplay, visuals and story into an epic then it's packing some serious fun! Animal Well - is another "essential" indie-game as well as Skald on this list: Again those visuals are top-notch in the top-draw and the puzzle environments look very fun with close timing and decision-making and exploration. As you say has that "organic" feeling of Rainworld, a living dungeon or platform world that's dynamic. Nine Sols - This along The Tea Lotus both look for me more fun than Hades II, the movement and clear combat precision with art all look very compulsive. That's 3 Knock-Out indie games in this list. Ridiculous.

I feel like I should mention that only the demo convinced me about how good the game is. I wasn't exactly looking foward to Gestalt, but after playing the demo it just felt so good and it doesn't look bad yes. Crow Country, I just hope it will be a good buy, I still feel like I have to experience with the horror games before I can see the good and the bad once. Nine Souls also a game i nearly missed because of the Soulslike Tag and one of the few, where I will love to hate it.

At long last, Gestalt: Steam and Cinder. If the demo is anything to go by, finally a new metroidvania which is neither souls-like nor has Celeste-tier platforming difficulty.

Anyone knows if Gestalt will have a linear or open progression? I really dislike linear metroidvanias that lead you from one area to another with bosses in between as its more an action platformer to me than metroidvania. Im constantly on search for more open progression metroidvanias like Afterimage, Tevi and Hollow Knight.

When they mean “boomer shooter” they mean the kind where whether it's indie or AAA, you don’t get to be John Halo hiding in the corner with Jimmy Cod when you skin your knees. You get out there and find health packs, even if you gotta rip them from the enemies’ still beating hearts.
