I was serving at the Naval Communication Unit at MIdway Island (Technically, the "Midway Islands") at the transmitter site in the late 60's when the Enterprise cruised by pretty near. We asked them if they would like us to handle some of their message traffic. They answered something like "You couldn't handle our message traffic". We had a number of 10KW transmitters and so did they. But they also had some 40KW transmitters and we didn't.

@@southernwolfgaming Actually, it was extremely rare that Morse code would be used once vastly better methods developed. Most communication was teletype and used multiplexed single sideband transmission which meant you could have 16 channels on the upper sideband and 16 channels on the lower. To the human ear, this all just sounded like a growl. The second most form of communication was voice. The only time Morse code would be used if there was no other way to communicate or if there was some problem and that was the only way to tell the other end to shift to a different frequency or something. If you want to learn the Morse code, just look it up and start learning. You want to make sure you use "International Morse Code". There is a different version that was used by railroads in the U.S. called "Railroad Morse Code" or more correctly "American Morse Code". You don't want that. Today, Morse Code isn't even required anymore for a ham radio license. And I think it should be.

Finally I found someone who does 1/350 scale ships. Once I saw the bow of #1, I guessed correctly. It's one model I've have been eyeballing for a while, but chose to go with a different choice as my first warship, the USS Iwo Jima LHD-7. Before this, I've only done other ships than warships, like Queen Mary 2 1/400 (Revell, old kit) and RMS Titanic 1/700 and currently working on Cutty Sark 1/96 (Revell). Never been a particular fan of warships nor would I consider ever doing them unless I've ran out of choices for ships. Even considering starting with wooden ships to continue doing sailboats, Cutty Sark has ignited my passion for scale models. There are still a few civil ships / sailboats to do before I move to warships.

@@HU17dotnet Thank you! I would definitely go for the Revell kit, the premium if possible as it comes with photo etch in the box, so you don't have to buy them separately. You can really see how much your skill level has increased with every model you have built. I love the OHP class and you have done a great job on it. When it comes to the LCS I think the Independence class trimarans are really impressive, and your modelling of it with all the details are a joy to look at. At the 1/350 scale photo etch parts are a must and the Revell Platinum USS New Jersey really showed to me the importance of this, as my only finish 1/350 was the Tamiya version and it is just not the same as yours.

You mention that the model is dusty; how does one remove dust without damaging the (finer points) of the model? Unless one puts them it in a sealed case, dust will always be an issue? I have to say that you really did a great job with augmenting that Bismarck model! Revell are decent kits (?), but not that detailed out of the box right? I got back in to collecting warhammer 40k again last year after a 20 year break but also have a burning desire to build some ships! Id love to go for 1:350 scale but not sure its a sensible choice for me. Im mostly looking to build and collect battle ships so hopefully 1:700 will do them some justice? Ive not built a ship since I was about 13 and really not sure if 1:700 is a nicely detailed and satisfying scale to build and collect. Will find out later this week..... Bismark, Hood, New Jersey and KG5 are top of my wish list. Your Bismark looks outstanding!! Im hoping my 1:700 will be ok but if im not content with that scake then I will go 1:350

Do you have the Yamato? where do you keep all this large models? They must have taken a huge space in your house. I used to collect Tamiya waterline series when I was a kid.

No I don't have the Yamato yet, am saving up. I put the kits on two IKEA bookshelves in my man cave, there's a video ot two on the channel if interested. Which models did you have?

Great swastikas on ebay also the 1/200 scale very easy to apply and thin enough for deck planking to show through.

I wish they made the FFG7 in 1/200 scale. I served on FFG43 The USS Rentz who rests on the floor of the Pacific now. I was a ssonar tech who was tatally jazzed when Hunt for Red October came out. They make Jonsey to be a super tech. They strech things a bit. It was fun just tthe same.

As a destroyerman, I vote for Hopper... please add a flight II and, if available, a flight III version.

Do your rotatas out of clear packaging seen few KZbin videos people doing it and looks good! And you can see the helicopter underneath I'd like to build a ship, I've got PT boats I love them but I'm mostly armour! I don't know whare I'd store it while building it first off so need to work out that issue first lol especially if takes near 4 year's! Look great though.

Very impressive collection, sir! Please forgive my nit-picking, but should that E-2 coming aboard the CVN-65 become a "bolter", wouldn't that helo low over the port flight deck be a potential disaster? Hope to see more of your excellent works.

And also nice collection I just started collecting 1/350 scale ships. If you remember that last time I told you I just got my uss new jersey that model is my first 1/350 collection. But next year I'm getting my uss Nimitz but the problem is, is that I don't have enough space to put my 1/350 nimitz😅

Great collection. One question, why did it took you four years to build a carrier?
