I had a Gwar movie on vhs as a kid mid 90s and there was basically nothing (that had any recognition at least) at that time as over the top as them. Then as a young adult I took my mother to see them. Word of advice: wear a raincoat cause we got sprayed by something out of his huge grotesque you know what..my mom was pretty speechless but the look on her face was worth it !!

I love the Hu. My sister and I saw them a couple years ago at a small club..... tickets were $20.00. In August they are playing at Shoreline Amphitheater with 5 Finger Death Punch and Megadeth. Depending on what's going on with Covid-19, I'm going to see them it will be way different going alone. My sister died of Covid-19 the end of January and I'm still having some lingering symptoms. Sorry for the sad direction that took.... looking forward to seeing all 3 of these bands again.

Try Nine Treasures or Tengger Cavalry if you like metal but The Hu doesn't do the trick for you. I always considered The Hu more like biker rock than metal tbh, but that's not to say they are bad.

Bloodywood, the Hu and Ningen Isu are definitely not weird metal bands. They are some of my favorite bands. They all play awesome music. Ningen Isu have been around for 30+ years. Bloodywood have played at Wacken Open Air. The Hu have some the best videos around. They're like mini movies.

Bloodywood is fucking awesome, it's like if Zack De La Rocha became vocalist of an Indian folkish version of Disturbed. They are a lot underrated, their songs could easily plays on any rock radio. I also liek a lot Nanowar Of Steel and Kontrust.

Weird is like GHOST and MARILYN MANSON, for their "over the top" fashion style while adding nothing new to the genre, "out-of-the-box" is what describe most of these bands, means they pushed their creativity to the limit that made them sound and look awesome. Kuburan(eng: grave) is from my country by the way and they're pretty much a dead band

Yes but the only difference is that The Hu come off as epic whereas Bloodywood just sounds like they discovered Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park and, dare I say, Rage Against the Machine two decades too late and just threw some Hindi in the mix to say "we're Indian". Rotting Christ is from Greece and pretty much nailed "Indian Metal" in their song entitled Devadevam. They set the bar pretty damn high too. If only Bloodywood had done like RC and incorporated more elements of Indian culture into the atmosphere of their music rather than the video, I might have respected them a little. Quite frankly, they come across as Indians trying to appeal to Americans via a radical, albeit corny genre of American music that died back in the 00's. Calling them "folk metal" is a bit rich.

This is a nice list. Surprised Gnome wasn’t on here, but pretty stoked I’ve got to see quite a few of these. Alien Weaponry would be a good add since they are an amazing metal band who also covers great material in their Native tongue. The Mac Sabbath video reminds me of the old school MTV Deathmatch and Sepulturas Ratamahatta video. Pretty sweet.

I miss Hatebeak on this list! It's a Deathmetal band, but the lead singer is a grey parrot XD, I'd consider that weird and not bands that put traditional influences in their music. I think Mac Sabbath was already acknowledged by the old bat Ozzy Osbourne himself though. 🤔 GWAR is also an established act though, like Alestorm and or Wind Rose. I want to root for Clown Core but it's already been done before (Insane Clown Posse) with some jazzy tweaks thrown in there for "uniqueness". 🤷🏾♂️ Edit- Kuburan looks like a Thai (??) version of a local band in our country, Tanya Markova.

Some of these bands are generic metal with a gimmick (Okilly Dokilly/Mac Sabbath) some are just good metal but involve elements of traditional music from their culture and as such not weird at all (Bloodywood/The Hu). The ones that are actually pretty weird are also insanely good (Clown Core/Igorrr)
