When we were younger, my brother and I couldn't afford a subscription. We ended up playing the trial for ten days, then create a new account. We were really bad at playing, so it was only after three or so accounts that we got to Goldshire. Walking around we saw some high level characters on mounts, and we thought that the night-elf mounts were sooo awesome! Then my brother noticed the crazy cat lady house, where you can buy companions. Some of the cats looked so much like the mounts. We were convinced that the only way to get a sabre mount, was to level up and train a Silver Tabby Cat. Now, the only problem was that it cost 47 silver. We ended up killing Defias members for spare cobber. We got the cat, and ran out of trial time.

Probably the noobiest thing i can remember doing when i was a kid was forming a guild and having absolutely no idea of how to do it and asking around for hours and looking for people to sign it later to realize no one wanted to join a guild ran by a 9 year old with a lvl 12 warrior.

When my little sister would play WoW she played a Worgen warrior, except she would sell all of her armor to buy pretty dresses, then she would go to a dungeon as a Damage dealer, pull a LeRoy Jenkins, then her group would blacklist her and my little sister would cry and tell me she had no clue why her group kicked her and blacklisted her. It was so sad it was hilarious

As a night elf I wanted to go to the great city of SW, which I had heard was amazing. I knew from playing orc that a boat from Ratchet sailed to Eastern kingdoms. I then began my journey, on foot, all the way from Teldrassil, through Darkshore down to Ashenvale, spent a long time trying to figure out a way to sneak past the orcs guarding The Barrens. Finally I found my way in and continued further down until I reached Ratchet. I then walked up through Stranglethorn Vale, but big gorillas with a skull level kept killing me, so I returned to Booty Bay to come up with a plan. In Booty Bay I met a person who somehow became my bodyguard and I could safely proceed through the jungle. Duskwood and Westfall, Elwynn forest went rather smooth and finally I could see the great gates of Stormwind. When I came to school the next day and told my friend about my adventure, he said: "Why didn't you just take the boat from Teldrassil?" "...Oh" (I also joined the guild of my bodyguard and was a member for multiple years)

When I was young, probably 11 or 13, I played a drainai healer(is that what they're called?) and I would always ask around if anybody needed me as a healer. However, there was this one person I teamed up with and for an hour, I was following them healing them every so often and helping them kill some of the mobs. Not to my knowledge, this person had stopped partying with me and for the past hour, I've been stalking this poor player.

I was about 10 when I first started playing WoW. My dad got sick of me just watching him and my mom play, so one day he sat me down and taught me how to play the game myself. I was an Orc warrior, and my first quest sent me off to kill some pigs. I remember being so upset that I had to kill them even though "they didn't hurt me" that I nearly started crying as I attacked the first one. Then my dad, who was laughing hysterically, explained to me what respawning was. 8 years later and now I kill every stinking little critter I find XD

It was something like this: Me: Dude, where can I find - insert mob name here -? NPC:... Me: Hello? NPC:... Me: Why are you not talking? NPC:... Me: Well fine, dick. I didn't need your help to begin with! A guy actually saw me talking to NPCs and then I understood that they weren't players after he laughed hysterically at my noobness. When I first started playing back in Cataclysm, I made 2 noobs mistakes. My first and only character back then was a Worgen Warlock (I just picked the race that looked the coolest to me and the class that sounded the best to me because the French name for Warlock can be translated as "Demonist"). Anyway, mistake number 1in the starting zone was when you find the guy in a basement that is supposed to bite you which infect you with the worgen curse and and shit. Well I was aware that he wasn't a player but 10 year old me may have overestimated the AI f the game because I started talking to this NPC in chat and expecting the computer to process what I said and respond accordingly. Spend a good 10 minutes like this before realising I had to click on him to continue with the script. Number 2 was a little later, when you borrow Genn's horse to rescue some guy in a tree surrounded by savage Worgens. Well after that you are supposed to just go away and continue your main quest somewhere else right ? Well I thought that while I'm here with the soldiers with their guns and shit that I should just stay here and continue to repeatedly kill Worgens like this, in fact t I thought that my quest was to wipe them out (I didn't read what this game told me a lot back then). At this point in the story your Worgen character haven't transformed yet and is like level 5 at best. I remember grinding to level 15, telling myself "damn there's a lot of them, been doing this shit for days now" before realising years later that respawning is a thing.

Tried as a young blood elf to run from Ghostlands to the Undercity by running through the Plaguelands, and got eaten by gargoyles. The whole way. Searched for herbs and mines by sight rather than using the "Find Herbs/Minerals" thing that puts them on your mini map. Bought white quality armor items from vendors because "it was better than the questing gear I had." Tried to make ERPers feel guilty about what they named their toon through actual RP. Stuff that still gets me today: Failing to read the patch notes on how classes have changed, and getting the ability mechanics confused between expansions. (i.e. "I never used that power cause it was useless back in the day.")

@TheCanisdingo8 жыл бұрын
yes, it is. and you should be. If you have a max level toon. Even though it's a small step in the grand scheme of things, it's still an accomplishment. You never really hit another "Sweet, i did it." point after that. I mean, maybe you cleared raids or whatever, and the first clear is really rewarding and exciting. but there's always better gear. and the game isn't like "Congrats, you're in full BiS gear!" you either know or you don't. So hitting max level on your first character (or any, for that matter) is something to be proud of. Even though it's "not a big deal"

I have a life which gets in the way of top level performance and even if I didn't. it's a game, I'm not going to turn it into a job instead of fun.

The guy told me he was created a Elite and by only chance your character was created a Rare. So I spent atleast 12 hours recreating characters.... It was a long day...

I too started before I learned english so when Dun Morogh and Elwynn Forest were too low level I didn't know where to go. So I went to duskwood where I got spawn camped by 2 spiders. Since I didn't understand english I didn't know I could ress at the spirit healer and when I finally got back I was too scared to leave again. That character is still level 12.

I liked having to actually find where and what the quests lead to. It gave me a reason to look around, get lost, and explore the world and ask people for directions. Now I just have to look for the blue highlighted area and the number on my map... Good design choice, doesn't mean I don't miss the alternative. Y'know, exploration and social stuff. Most of the time if you want to party with a guy while leveling they'll go 'nah' or not respond! Questing buddies were everywhere in vanilla and burning crusade for me :( Well, except that one time in WoD. I was on my rogue and I met a pandaren monk, we RP'd the opening together. He was a level booster, so I ended up saving him from near death with stuns and shadowstep a bunch. Fun stuff. I still have a low level troll hunter with no pet and an *axe* wearing white armor to replace his greys I bought in orgrimmar from the leather NPC. Just as a relic and reminder of what I once was whenever I log in. I will always be that noob.

My first WoW character was a Draenai Shaman named Katallina, and we decided to move her over to Elwyn Forest since one of my friends was going to level a human priest. I somehow confused the river between Elwyn and Darkshore with that tiny stream that's near the Abby. I died and ended up in a Darkshore graveyard. It took our entire nubby guild to get Katallina back to safety.

The moment I decided I had to play WoW was seeing my boyfriend riding around SW on a nightsaber. "I can ride a giant cat? Sweet! Sign me up!" My boyfriend told me that he "had to farm for days" to get that mount. Noob me spent a good while looking for a 'farm' to earn my giant cat. I was prepared to sow/tend/harvest whatever I had to for said mount. XD ...4 years later I am still loving the game and have over 100 mounts, but I still haven't told him that.

At the time 5 gold was a ton of money. I was doing quests for 40 silver, and I saw that as a ton of money. So 5 gold was a crapton of money to me. So I asked the guy how much damage the squirrel did. I didn't realize it was a non combat pet. He said it does pretty good damage for a level 15. I gave him the gold for the mechanical squirrel and he quickly put me on ignore.

I first started playing when I was eight, and ended up making a dwarf hunter as my first character. I never figured out how to change my hearthstone, so every time I used it, I went right back to the tutorial zone. On the run from there to the first town, there was this one spot by the road that always had this one, single bear. Being eight, I decided the bear was my nemesis for whatever reason and would fight it on sight. Usually the bear won. When I eventually got high enough to tame pets, I tamed the bear and went on adventures with it. Spike the Bear was with me from vanilla to now.

You wanted our noob stories? Ok, I have been playing WoW for 3 years now, and I am still a total noob. I only quest now and do garrison daily's. When I tried to do dungeons I got yelled at and cussed at a lot because I was new, so after a few tries, I finally gave up. Every time I go into a dungeon now ( to help a guildie with dps), I get so freaking nervous that it can actually make me sick to my stomach. So, all those great WoW players out there, you can totally kill a new person's joy of the game. I still play, but I would much rather play all alone now just roaming around with my pet. lol Honest story. Ilvl still at 695 Tanaan jungle gear. This game is so easy to learn basics, but really difficult to master the mechanics. First time in a dungeon someone told me "CC" I was like what is that? Crowd control. Oh, what is that? Freeze trap, lol. Why not just say freeze trap? haha The videos you make are good, but totally above the head of someone that doesn't understand what all those abbreviations are. AoE, BoE, CC, and there are a whole bunch of them. A noob that actually loves the graphics of Wow. Just saying.

Here's my noob story and it's still painful to think about. I was running a 5 player dungeon with my Draenei paly playing as a DPS and at one point the healer told me to turn off "RF" or she'd let stop healing me. I had no idea what RF meant. I was in the dungeon with a friend and I panicked. We were both trying to figure it out. Suddenly she yelled in my headset "It's Righteous Fury! Turn it off! You're pulling aggro!" Of course, it took me a second to figure out how to do that. And, just as I was about to click it off, I died... Once I made it back to the group (with RF turned off), they'd just about finished the dungeon. Before we got out of there, one of the other players typed "Ha ha! Paly fail!". In a bubble. So everyone could see. Oh, BTW, I think I was level 50 something at the time. Man, that still stings.
@pawninwordsandsoon9 жыл бұрын
When I first started in late vanilla I completely ignored questing. I thought that quests are just optional, something that you would do for fun and not a leveling tool, so I was just going around killing mobs (you can imagine how painfully slow I was leveling). I also thought that armor is the most important stat, I would replace a green item with stats with a grey item just because it gives more armor. I was leveling a protection warrior and I was dual wielding. I thought that to give somebody an item, I should just "drop it on the ground" so the other player can loot it.. and ofcourse the items got deleted.

I first started playing wow back in vanilla, I made human warlock. My friend who played took me to Stormwind, to show me the city, then he logged out, I spent 2 hours in Stormwind, running around and around, because I couldn't find the exit, I didn't know I had a map, didn't know I had a hearthstone, then in my running around I decided to do my warlock quest, so I figured out how to ask in general where to go, some nightelf took me on the tram to the Iron Forge land, where I ended up in the gnome leveling area, to find my book for my HUMAN warlock quest ... that wasn't my only noob thing. One time a friend and I went to shimmering Flats, here again I couldn't figure out how to get out of shimmering flats, he had me set my hearth stone to that area, and I didn't want to go back through the needles and get killed by the horde, finally a couple days later a guy took me to tanaris. When my friend and I were level 40 on our druids, we decided to venture into western plague lands, back then it was way to high level for us, we went up by scholo and I found a thing laying on the ground blood of heros or something like that, my friend said don't click it so I did, and we were both killed instantly.

@Alldressedup1009 жыл бұрын
Shannan Miner I know what you mean but that's not what we were talking about. The blood used for scholomance was called "Blood of Innocents". However, the Blood of Heroes has nothing to do with that. It could be found in the Plaguelands. Clicking on it would spawn 1 - 2 elites that could hit really hard. It was used for some receipts or quests in vanilla. However, since I started playing in BC I personally never had to farm this. I was just curious. Sorry for my English

In the early days, there was less to do at the top except grind, but the early levels were rich with interesting quest chains. When they realized so many people raced to max level, they drastically reduced the time to reach it and so they gutted the rich quests from the beginner areas. However, you could still quickly out level an area and so you skipped content that had a lot of creativity in it. Oh and there was a lower limit on character slots. There was no dual spec, so if you wanted to try a different one you rolled another character. Some of the zones had BAMs that were a challenge. So, it made more sense from a fun standpoint to re-roll characters.

My noob story(stories): First up is the leveling, I had no idea how too do quests back in vanilla, and I had no idea you could look it up on forums, so after spending countless of hours on each quest, I decided too only farm mobs. This resulted in me hitting lvl 60 about 1 week before TBC launched. (I started playing about 2 months after vanilla came out...). Story 2: As I said, lvling took me a while, and another reason for that is that no1 wanted too group with me for dungeons. I couldn't understand why I allways got kicked from groups right away... Until one day, when a guy in my group for ZF in tanaris, started laughing and askes wtf was going on with my spec. Turns out I had put my talentpoints completely randomly, I had most my talents in feral, claiming I was a healer, equiped with agility on half my gear and intellect on some pieces. Up until this point I had no idea what my talents did and that they effected my character, I didnt even know that my stats mattered.Thats my story

When I was around 8 years old I started wow on my dads account, I made a warrior named 'Shadowwarrior' (total noob name) and at level ten I got stuck in warsong gulch in level 1 gear, never made it out of there

I was a macro noob. I didn't understand what macros were for, I thought I can create spells. I copied the text of the shadow bolt, but changed the damage to 200000 on my lvl 40 warlock. I was surprised that it just said the text when I hit the macro. I thought I'm gonna be one shoting everything , and wondered why people don't do that ...hahaha

I am still a noob as I only started playing wow during MOP... but so far my biggest noob noob moment has been with my first character, a tauren moonkin. I started playing the game alone without any friends to introduce me to the game and since I have been playing solo games before, wow being my first mmo, I just didn't feel brave enough to get into a guild... All this lead to a major lack of information on how to play moonkin and I found out somewhere between lvls 60-65 that it would be beneficial for me to play in the moonkin form... I had had no idea that I could drag the spells from the spellbook to the action bar and as the spells do not appear automatically on moonkin form like they do on basic tauren form I kept playing without using moonkin at all...

You forgot the ability noob. Only uses what shows the biggest number, and keeps his eyes on the ability bar. And keybinds? 1-9 of course.

I know all about my class, but my main problem is always looking at my bars in combat. I'm trying to fix it, but it is so hard.

What is this "1-9" you speak off? Is there a better way to use abilities than the mouse? Yes, that was sarcasm and yes, I know some people can make mouse clicking work for them but number keys, shift/alt/ctrl+number keys, qerty and zxcvbnm is usually much easier to learn

When I started wow I played a human hunter. I was asking Marshall Mcbride how to dismiss pets and wondered why he wasn't answering...

When I was a noob, I was that person who tried to do dungeons and battlegrounds at a low level without heirlooms when everybody else had them. In PvP I was getting one shotted every time. Also in dungeons I had NO IDEA what Aggro was, I was a melee rouge at the time and I wasn't the tank, but I ended up pulling aggro every time. Needless to say, I never did dungeons or PvP again until I had a better understanding of the game. To all noobs, don't do what I did XD

I only just started WoW a couple days ago. Rolled a Hunter because, pets are awesome. Currently at Level 22 and am just questing for now. I do all the quests in one area and then I jump to a new area. It's been pretty fun so far and i look forward to getting killed in raids

First day one wow.. not sure how I figured it would turn out. bunch of "friends" saw me for the picking. quickly ported us to dalaran, we all mounted up on two seaters and flew out to BFE in IC. They told me we were going to do a glitch that only worked if my hearth was destroyed... (good thing i believed them, right?) so we get to the spot, the kick me out of the vehicle, kick me from the guild, ignore me and left me to die. lv 22 hunter and i was fucked big time... i ended up making a new character after several weeks of playing that one. I was also 10 so the game made no sense to me for about 4 years

I used to be the worst kind of noob: i did not know what WoW is about. I started to play cause all of my friends did it back in BC. I istalled the game, started, picked the druid and just played. I liked druid, it was pretty awesome on balance talent because of the Moonkin look. Once we went on a raid or something, and I told my friends "Hold on guys, I have to go downstairs" and started following one of my friends. Now, when I returned, the whole raid wiped because of me. "The big f*@$ing bird just made us wipe!" That wa the point I stopped WoW for about a year. After that I always learned about my class and did the right thing. Now I'm back in the game and just enjoying it!
