Wow cool, Im famous :D ..but thats the wrong run and far away from being a "Top-Speedrun" for a number of reasons.... - several months before that particular Doom 1 E1M1-009 shown here I made Doom2 LV01-005. There I kinda showed what today may be called an unseen "glitch" -> running from the very first Gametick by simply start to speedrun just before the game was even loaded - this skipped the "usual waiting GT´s", saving about 0.2-0.3 seconds in any single map run from now on. Guess I opened a .lmp before for the first time somehow and saw all the "do nothing" commands at start and fooled around then with my starting setup to record. (Remember the time! Pentium 166 - Doom in DOS starting from a Ramdrive to fasten the reloads - usually with .bat to restart over and over again automatically. Needs a quick Ctrl+c break in case you beat something, or the new WR gets overwritten and deleted forever in 2seconds by your next attempt ;) However, I even told in LV01-005 " Next Stop E1M1", totally aware that someone could take this immortal one easily... But I was alone ....felt like uploading and competing against myself only having more Compet-N points than next 2 countries alltogether, but I guess lots of people just didnt have had "internet" yet -well, at least nobody seemed motivated to do the work needed on E1M1-009 for several months! So guess I finally thought something like "ok then I really have to do the shit/trash myself" and did in like 10mins. ;) It is NOT "Top" in any way imho, but glad you people like that old stuff. -Tons of people did and showed somewhere they can do E1M1 in 9 seconds! Foremost to mention our beloved and unfortunately already gone Compet-N Admin Adam Hegyi who did the N1M1-009. I think some people even done E1M1 in 9 seconds for episode runs. But nowadays I´m not sure anymore about the .lmps. This steam action and tons of mods stuff - sometimes its even a different map, probably a different game - the vids here often dont prove anything comparable anymore. (No SR50 while turning folks! ;)) The .lmp must run under "original" Ultimate Doom DoS conditions. Maybe thats the reason why nobody can upload even a same time? All playing a different game.. :) And Im quite sure you shouldnt use that lazy speedrun site as (only) ressource to find "Top" speedruns - Concerning Doom they didnt even copy all the real Data from the Doom-Archives to theirs (too much work and devotion needed to do so manually, I have to admit) but someone else put the first E1M1-009 there at least for you to find looking impressive enough ... -Last but not least, concerning personal excitement, cooperation and/or working hours you COULD have chosen some other Speedrun from me which may be considered "Top" for some people, but e1m1-009 ? erm no,...sry.. Im afraid but simply lets agree a difference here maybe. However, thanks for mentioning me at all so I could post this WoT ;)

Zak Mcallister Any game you really like, honestly. But if you wouldn't speedrun your favorite games right off the bat (because they're overly long or you just feel you're not gonna have that much fun running), you can always pick a game like Super Mario World where you'll always be able to finish on reasonable times even if you're not that good.

Hi apollo Market researcher here As a fan of your content, I encourage you to title your videos without things like "Top ten" Something like "Most influential world record videos" or "Most significant/thrilling" et cetera are more receptive to clicks both from new prospective non-subscribed viewers (by 29.2% +/- 11.5% in the video game category.) For the subscribed category, 88.7% view it regardless, but that's not the whole story. They're more likely to ignore it in favor of a personal search for something that matches their interests more (numbered lists are quantitative, impulse is usually qualitative.) But you want those views as early as possible and with as little disappointment as possible so that you have a larger principle amount by which the views organically increase. You're looking at a difference by the current youtube algorithm of about 28.6% +/- 4.9% suggestion relevancy, 46.5% (no margins for this study) less likely to be spread via Twitter, and most importantly, 58.1% (no margins for this study) less likely to get immediate views from followers. Having loyal fans be excited about your new uploads is very crucial, especially for your niche audience that expects you to be ruthlessly honest.

That's surprising. I generally gravitate away from video titles like those and towards the more all-encompassing "Top Ten" title. The latter creates a more immediate sense of intrigue going in: What factors will this be judged by? Which of these factors will turn out to be more or less relevant than others in their placement? Will the Number 1 pick do one or more of these exceptionally well or will it have the best overall mix of all of said factors? With only X number of spots to fill, what things that you like will actually make the bar and how high on the list will it rank? What does all of this say about the personality and preferences of the uploader? Titles like "most thrilling" or "most significant", while valid categories, just don't have the same punch to them. They don't feel as specific to the tastes of the uploader, so you don't go in feeling like you'll be getting a unique experience from anyone else making a similar list unless you're already familiar with the uploader's personal style. It comes across as the person making the specificity of their metric the selling point of their video rather than making their personal character's take on a malleable and much more subjective premise their selling point, and to me, the latter is much more interesting than the former. It's why I tend to gravitate towards the more open-ended titles like those of RebelTaxi or the more personalized titles of Caddicarus (both of whom exude personality in their presentation) as opposed to titles that are just so specific that i just have to wonder "why are the things on this list even relevant to anything outside of this extremely specific sub-category of this medium?" (WatchMojo can be particularly bad with this). I acknowledge that I may well be an outlier in this (and that's fine, I'm an outlier in quite a few areas), though I'm eager to better understand the rationale of those who disagree with me on this and, perhaps more pressingly, know the sources you've acquired these statistics from.
