Honestly I can't stand all the defense Goku gets over the way he acts. Saying "it's just his nature" is like saying it's okay when any jerk acts like a jerk simply because that's how he's hardwired. Timothy Amaya Alien or not it doesn't matter. Human beings fight our instincts and nature all the time. Goku is just a selfish jerk, but fans refuse to admit it for some reason. He's honestly one of the least likable characters on the show with absolutely no character development since day one and little to no real depth outside of "I like to fight and eat." As for Sasuke I'm not defending him. Personally I hated him as a character from the beginning even before all the crap he pulled. I was simply using him as an example of the hypocrisy here in not holding Goku accountable for his actions. If Goku is justified in ignoring his responsibilities then Sasuke is justified in his actions as well considering what made him that way. P.S. My point isn't that both should be justified. My point is neither are, and both should be blasted for acting like a couple of numb nuts.

jakexx2 Goku's a nice guy, but nice and good aren't really the same thing. He doesn't really do any of what he does out of a sense of duty or selflessness ala Superman. No, more often than not Goku only saves the world because he wants to challenge himself, or in the cases of King Piccolo and Frieza out of revenge (not that revenge is a bad thing.) Heck, Goku flat out put the entire Earth and those he cared about including his own son in danger multiple times just because he wanted to test his opponents at their full power. That's not an admirable action in any way, shape, or form. Also you're wrong about Chi-Chi forcing Gohan down a path he didn't want to go. Gohan flat out says throughout the series the HE wants to be a scholar. Yeah, I'm sure his upbringing with Chi-Chi as a mom helped mold him that way, but to say he was forced just shows a lack of understanding who Gohan is as a person. Piccolo, who was more of a father to Gohan than Goku ever was, flat out says that Gohan isn't a fighter to Goku after Goku pushes his son into fighting Cell. If anything Goku is the one that tried to force Gohan down a path he didn't want to go.

I think it's important to distinguish bad relationships from poorly written ones. Some of these, such as Light and Misa, were MEANT to be toxic relationships. If written well, a bad romance can make for great drama, but if written poorly, it can be terrible. This is especially true if the badly written relationship is supposed to be romantic by the author's intention, such as with Sakura and Sasuke, or Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

Thank god someone else said it! Light and Misa, and I would argue Yuki and Yuno, were MEANT to be written as toxic. They're tragedies, not romances. The Reason for NO. 1 is easy, STOCKHOLM SYNDROME!!! After this I am NEVER going to accept Beauty and The Beast story as a case of Stockholm Syndrome again. Satou and Shio - Happy Sugar Life Shio is a heavily abused, emotionally vulnerable and exploitable little girl who's 5-9 years old Satou is a young adult woman who has essentially kidnapped and groomed her into being her romantic partner, not letting her leave the house, talk to anyone else, control all aspects of her life, and oh did I mention she's in a romantic relationship with someone under the age of 10???? Its argued that the relationship is not sexual, and that Satous attraction is purely emotional and due to Shio's innocence. Shios abusive background also means that she needs to be kept safe from her own family, but how Satou does this is disgusting and isn't justified. She keeps this girl in her house, all day every day and trains her - literally TRAINS her, on her to act as her romantic partner. They practise their wedding vows every night after she spent the entire day sitting at the door waiting for her return Satou is a Yandere psychopath who feels zero empathy. Her infactuation to Shio is a result of her feeling something for someone for once, as sex, relationships and empathy for others is almost entirely meaningless to her She uses all as a weapon for her own gain She uses allusions to pedophilia both to control Shio and several other characters also after Shio. By isolating this girl, killing anyone who tries to come between them, and conditioning her to want to love and be with her forever, it has to be one of the most fucked up relationships in anime Whether the anime is self aware of this or not is debatable. I am in the camp that it kinda is, and the only reason it is depicted in such an excessively cutesie and romantic light is because it's from Satous point of view snd how she sees it, not because they want to depict this as being an actual "Happy Sugar Life" It's just what Satou sees. It's her fantasy. Then again, the story and character building is set up so that Satous actions are in a sympathetic light; the fact that every adult in Shios life has failed her for example and so she needs someone to take her in and protect her

If I had to qualify which of the two in the relationship was worse... yeah, it is really hard. Sasuke has done things, both good and evil, that are beyond anything Sakura has accomplished. You get *why* he keeps making such choices even while you know he knows better: tragic, confusing backstory is tragically confusing. Sakura has fewer opportunities to do such things, but also isn't dealing with the same junk in her backstory. If she did, I don't know that she'd make better choices, just like I don't know if Sasuke would still go down this road if he'd been from an unremarkable family. The only reason I was rooting for these two was because I found it preferably to either ending up with Naruto, but in a weird way, they are a terrible couple perfect for each other. @_@

Sasuke and Sakura gets even worst after they get together. Right after they have a daughter sasuke ends up going on a long term solo mission that takes him away from the village for over a decade. The bastard doesn't even take the time to maintain any kind of contact with his wife and daughter; the guy doesn't even know what his daughter looks like(god forbid he have a photo). He left Sakura alone to raise their daughter and to make matters worst the stress of essentially being a single parent seems to be taking its toll on sakura, and Sarada ended up developing serious issues because of his neglect. He ended up, predictably, to be a terrible husband and father. There is just nothing that ever made that relationship work... what's irritating is that the story somehow want's try to convince the audience that Sasuke is a decent person, when he so obviously is not; he's just terrible. (which is additionally sad since Sarada was a legitimately good character with the one downside being that kishimoto forces her to have a positive view of her terrible neglectful father) Honestly, i would have preferred Sakura getting together with Rock Lee over sasuke. Hell, she'd be a lot better off being alone than being stuck with sasuke(people can be happy on their own too y'know). Its just that bad.

She's so frustrated with her life that her child starts asking questions and she destroys their >unpaid< house for it. Kishimoto even made Sarada doubt her motherhood (of course, because you're gonna doubt the parent that was always there for you, instead of the one you don't even remember). At the end Sasuke gives the infamous "poke" to his daughter and Sakura waits like a puppy for a hug/kiss/poke/wtv and he tuns around and walk away. I love Kishimoto but there's no way that's a healthy relationship, hell, he must know it, it almost seems on purpose.

The light navels seem to imply the summoning ritual is the reason. From what I could gather, the ritual slightly alters the mentality of the summoned familiar to make them more drown to the summoner. I do not like Sword Art Online. I think the biggest problem is the protagonist, himself. He's an over-powered Gary Stu and there's nothing there to balance it out. Seriously, the only people I would buy Sasuke ending up in a relationship with are Karin or Naruto (and both of these are pushing it, as Sasuke has only ever used or killed the people he claims to care about). Most of the couplings in Naruto felt forced to me, even Hinata and Naruto. It felt underdeveloped to me, because I felt Naruto had never reciprocate Hinata's feels in that way. Naruto and Sakura would have made the most sense, and was one of the few couples that really had time to develop a real relationship and chemistry in the series.

yea I raged when I found out that Sakura choose Sauske over Naruto and that Naruto choose Hinata of all people. I mean COME ON! Wow, I didn't realize Kagome got so much hate. Ever since I watched InuYasha I always thought Inuyasha to be the bad guy in the relationship only because his constant switching from Kikyo and Kagome was annoying. Ichigo and Orihime? I guess fans consider them a couple but I never did. she had a crush on him I think but I never seen it reciprocated as anything more then deep friend ship like love for a family member.

commando61961 Cause unlike Orihime, she wasn't totally useless as she managed to be useful at later parts of Shippuden (during the Pain assault and Ninja War). As a wife she is pretty damn good at it as she can keep Naruto on top of his Hokage duties without being overwhelming about it despite his rather clumsiness and laziness at the profession at times, and Naruto appreciates her for doing this (very much by the looks of things given how they got 2 children, and still have a stable relationship) As for the mother part... she has managed to utterly perfect and improve the Yamato face to scare Boruto into utter submission

Dread Knight Also, Hinata's confession of her feelings to Naruto was a real confession and, to top it all off, we got a whole movie to show how they get together.
