DragonBall Evolution was supposed to be Dragonball right? then why- -is krillin not in the movie -is Roshi not old -does Bulma not have blue hair -do Cymbal, Tambourine, and Piano not appear -doesn't Great Ape Goku not kill Gohan, "Piccolo" does -is Mai working for "Piccolo", not Pilaf -can Mai shapeshift -is Goku a teenager and at school -did they not get this movie right at all

Animes were just never ment for live action. The plot lines have to many events The logic doesn't fit in a real world settings Most character don't look as good in our dimension prime form The jokes don't translate. And some characters personality don't translate very well.

I remember when I was a kid and Dragonball Evolution was on FX and I really wanted to watch but my mom made me do my homework and I never got to watch it. *Now that Im older and watched it, I think my mom saved my life* Also I loved Speed Racer, I dont know why people hate it.

Speed Racer dosent really belong here. It stayed true to the source material because The Wachowskis gave a damn about it, and were fans of the show growing up. I'll admit the CGI is a bit dated, and some parts are a little cheesy, but all in all, its still a great film.

Neither did I, actually. I remember as a kid when they used to show it on the NASCAR channel, and on occasional nights where I stayed at a neighbor's house after school, I would watch it. I didn't know it, but it was essentially my first taste of '60s anime. The rest were either from the '90s or more current.

Well it was pretty bad compared to the anime, but nowhere as bad as any of these movies on this list. And what pretty much saved it from being total garbage was the actor of L and AMAZING casting of Ryuk. I mean come on. You gotta admit that despite that shitty story and most of the shitty cast, if there's one thing they did right was Ryuk. Willem Dafoe completely nailed that role.

Dragonball Evolution would have been good if the names of the characters weren’t the names of the main characters in the anime, they could have called Goku Jim, or ChiChi Sally, or something like that. They also could have made it better by not using the Dragon Ball title and instead they could have called it the attack of the green man or some other dumbass name, they shouldn’t have disrespected the Dragon Ball name like that.

I also have a similar sentiment (situation included) on that *STEAMING PILE OF BULL FUCKING SHIT* movie when my older cousin play that movie at our DVD player (of course) my first reaction was like "Oh so Dragonball suddenly has now a live action adaptation eh? I hope this looks good" and 15 mins. Later my reaction at that time was like "Ok! That's it i'm done with this steaming pile of bullshit this movie has no connection to the series" and after that i walked out That movie is so *BAD* it made me insane for an hour and later that night i almost destroyed our DVD player i confront him to his room and i tell him "Don't ever play that movie again i'm begging please" luckily he says "Yeah sure i really find that movie really boring and really bad it's not worth to watch to be honest"

Adrian21 That's because Rurouni Kenshin is basically a history lesson on Japan. Fictional yes, but most of what happened in RK happened in real life. Well, liberties had to be taken though, seeing as the real life Battousai was executed in the end. It's a long version of me agreeing with you.

Rurouni Kenshin is just awesome. It works because: - You have a director and writers who understood the source material. Despite a few changes, they were able to capture the themes and stories - They brought the story much closer to reality. The movie is closer in tone to the OVAs than the anime or the manga. Comedic scenes are kept at a bare minimum but in parts where you need them to be. Rarely do jokes fall flat - Stellar casting. When the movie was first announced Nobuhiro Watsuki (RRK's mangaka) was asked if he wanted a certain actor to play the role. His answer was Takeru Satoh and he got his wish. The producers could have gotten everything right but cast the wrong guy and it would all fail. Takeru Satoh was able to channel Kenshin's gentle personality as well as the hitokiri (see playing 7 different characters in Kamen Rider Den-o paid off well and the fact he's grown into a really good actor). Not just that. Satoh put in the work months before, training in kenjutsu, aikido and battojutsu. He did all of his stunts (/watch?v=bWHd5_W4QPg) often times with very little wirework. He would read the manga between takes and being a fan of the manga helped him become Kenshin. - Stunts. The movie could have overdone the wire fu but Kenji Tanigaki chose to keep it grounded. they chose to use a mix of martial arts and kenjutsu with little to no CGI apart from blood splatter. The swords may be fake, but they actually connected and the actors had to wear body padding for the blows. I could go on and on because as a RRK fan this was like my dream come true.

don't blame dc or anime for incompetence on the part of writers and film makers...DC's problem is they don't understand what makes their character likable ...and they don't take time to develop them. even marvel needed a solo iron man film, a solo cap film , a solo thor and a solo hulk film before they made the avengers...they gave time for people to give a shit about the characters...DC literally introduced wonderwoman, batman , dooms day and lex in one movie with death of superman after man of steel and resurrected him in justice league while introducing aquaman, flash and cyborg...not only do we not give flying fuck about superman because of this, we hardly got time to know the characters well...anime has a different problem altogether...the fight scenes in shonens look cringy in live action, so if ainimes which involve less fighting are better adapted like deathnote Japanese liveaction

I'll be honest, the live adaptation for Speed Racer is 20 times better than Dragonball Evolution, saddest reason is that despite of how silly those 3D graphics were, it managed to bring some charm, funny moments, depth, and a lot of good scenes that stayed true to it's source material for the most part, I can't say the same for Dragonball though...

Even though the Guyver was the first American made adaptation (to my knowledge) I agree it seemed more like Power Rangers and is painful for me to recommend to people when I suggest the Guyver series as a whole. But that being said, even though it was before its time if a Guyver movie were to be made now, with the right producers/writers/directors/cast it could be epic.

It was Attack on Titans authors decision to change the script considerably. But it’s cool on the internet to mock it while ignoring this fact. Black Butler was great. There’s a manga, an anime, and a movie, so would you like to see them all 100% copy each other? Yes? Well, that would get backlash too. Two of the greatest live action anime films though are Gintama and Blade of the Immortal. Check those two out! They’re faithful yet also they manage to make it original.

The Japanese live action death note makes alot of changes and cuts out alot of material (Higuchi and the whole Yotsuba arc are cut completely). But they make a real effort to capture the spirit of the series, Light Yagami is done well and Kira is just as ruthless as he is in the anime, L is also excellently portrayed as the eccentric detective, Misa Amane is the most improved character she's more than just starry-eyed Yandere in the movies, even Naomi Misora plays a major role in the first movie, but easily the best character is Ryuk, he is fucking hilarious!! Yes I highly recommend watching the Japanese live action, it is the ONLY live action anime I've ever liked.
