Slightly Artsy rest is easy to use. It’s a direct hit box, so you have to jump on top or dash into the character. For example, if I put an opponent to sleep in ultimate, I short hop and down a into rest. True combo that guarantees 40%

Michael Hendrix It’s mainly because it made competitive play impossible. That’s because not knowing your opponents moves means it’s impossible to prepare and it takes any skill after preparing for matchups. Also, none of the moves were that interesting.

@@GodzillaGamerITA i like to think that the team working on smash 4 were working on palutena's movelist, went "Wow this is a great idea", and then struggled to think how they can apply this to other character's movesets. my favorite was ganon's sword, simply because it was nice to see him use one finally, and now its all of his smash attacks in ultimate which is sweet.

You couldn't use them in competitive play, and casual players don't have the time to set up their custom movesets when they have friends over and everyone's fighting over who gets to play. That means most people won't end up using them.

This is going to make it sound like past me was an idiot (and he is) but back in like 2010 when I had very limited access to console games and the internet in general I had a copy of Brawl and would watch the E3 Brawl trailer many times because that was a thing you could do in Brawl and I always wondered how Kirby did "that big spinning move" as I called it back then because I didn't even know what a Game Cube was until around 2011 so didn't know what Melee was so I tried for HOURS to try and do "that spinning move" before giving up. When I found out about Melee and got my own copy for chirstmas I was so happy that Brawl Kirby didn't have that.

I said it badly but meant that I'd like it to be possible to have an additional Double Jump without equipping a lot of stats in all modes. Smash Run is a separate point which I'd accept without stats but hope to get the whole package for. Spirit Board is an okay substitute for now but they could even reuse Assist Trophies as enemies for a Smash Run 2 with a little tweaking.

Now if you want a real number 1: Piranha Plant's footstool jump retaliation attack. Only possible when Plant is crounching for one, but every single character in the game can airdodge away. You can't even use it to troll a fetus in the womb because the opponent needs to footstool jump on the crouching Plant in order for the move to activate.

However, there's a good point against Rest in Smash since SSB4. Since the opponents gets KO'd much faster, and recover much faster, and the Rest animation lasting for so long, you can just end up trading stocks. That is a bad reward for such a risky move. - The solution is to drastically shorten the length of the move when you make a hit. In Ultimate, the move is _slightly_ shorter if you connect it. But it's still not enough.

I was actually relieved that Kirbys hammer got changed in Ultimate, I hated it when I miss. Since it had God awful lag, charging it helped me gain patience over my opponents.
