As far as Winnie the Pooh, the absolute most horrendous, despicable thing they did was quite literally make Pooh and Piglet just redneck forest hermits that put on Pooh and Piglet masks and kill people. Cause they literally had hands. With FINGERS!😬 and their outfits didn’t remotely resemble the cartoon. They basically looked like a cross between Wrong Turn and TCM. But, end of the day, every director has to start somewhere. And if they see potential in WtP BaH director, they’re gonna keep giving him enough money to make more movies. But yeah, Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey was absolutely horrendous. Only thing that even slightly saved it was the main girl.

There used to be a thing in comic collecting (might still be idk) called event fatigue. Since the entire premise of Marvel movies became events and tie-ins that would get people to justify high ticket prices, they kind of made the audience's event fatigue inevitable (I know the tv shows are designed to be the "regular issues" component but the budgetary difference in tv shows doesn't really matter as much in comics. interested in if Gunn can avoid this issue with his reboot.
@razvanzamfir1545

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 did actually well. Spiderman across the spiderverse also did well. Both superhero movies. I think the fatigue is with Disney quality and predictable, low affair movies where green screen is used in abundance with no real thought given to the script (cause we can always change it in post).
@octogigas
@octogigas Жыл бұрын
The reason he can't is because different brands require different approaches to succeed at the same time. If even if he's trying to avoid the fatigue, he's just turning DC into Marvel 2.0...with him writing and directing half the projects and casting all his friends, to most audiences, it'll just feel like more of the thing they're already getting tired of. Which is why DC started failing in the first place.

Disney was a complete Dumpster Fire. Like Haunted Mansion and Elementals is worthy in the list too. But just hearing Phoebe Waller call herself “resourceful, daring, beauty, and self-sufficient“… not only is that cringe, but it’s so painfully obvious that Kathleen Kennedy pandered that into the movie just like Star Wars.

Lucasfilms formula: 1. Pick a beloved legacy character 2. Make him old and grumpy 3. Make him depressed 4. Introduce new diverse gender swapped version of that character 5. Purposely make everyone hate that character with horrible writing 6. Release movie thinking no one will notice. 7. Blame fans for being racist, sexist, and homophobic when movie fails. 8. It's kind of crazy how all three of the Lucasfilm IPs have been completely jettisoned and gone to shit: 1. Star Wars (I don't need to explain how the fanbase is torn asunder) 2. Indiana Jones (this new movie becoming one of the biggest bombs in movie history) 3. Willow (an UNBELIEVABLY awful show. And one that you can't even find anymore; whether that be on a streaming service, physical media, or to digitally download). Congratulations Disney and Lucasfilm. You fucked up all your purchased IPs.

It's intentional, and it's working as intended. You are all falling for the bait, hook line and sinker. Communism and Religion Abolished - all religious and metaphysics is rejected. Engels and Lenin agreed that religion was a drug or “spiritual booze” and must be combated. *To them, atheism put into practice meant a “forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.”* Step one of the "Four steps for ideological subversion" (Yuri Bezmenov, 1985) Demoralization - this is a process which can take about 15-30 years to perform (a generation). *During this stage, the moral fibre and integrity of the country is put into question, thereby creating doubt in the minds of the people. To do so, manipulation of the media and academia is required to influence young people.* As the younger generation embraces new values, such as Marxism and Leninism, the older generation slowly loses control simply through attrition. *Again, true facts no longer matter during this stage, but rather creating perceptions are of paramount importance.* Eliminating American exceptionalism, *fundamental change of national identity, structural deconstruction of foundational principles, elimination of religion. Embedding a new societal design upon the psyche of generations through ideological academia, peer pressure by elites upon academics and society to convince that prior values were inherently flawed, racist, prejudiced etc. National identity is diluted with aspersions toward historical references. National History is re-written, re-defined, and molded to fit the new intended behavioral model and create the new values.* --Established IP like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Indiana Jones, Star Wars (etc) are historical references (cultural, social). You are not meant to accept "woke" (Marxist) ideologies, but rather rebel against it. Reverse psychology is a technique involving the assertion of a belief or behavior that is opposite to the one desired, with the expectation that this approach will encourage the subject of the persuasion to do what is actually desired. A Controlled Opposition is a protest movement that is actually being led by government agents. Nearly all governments in history have employed this technique to trick and subdue their adversaries, notably Vladimir Lenin who said, "The best way to control the opposition is to lead it ourselves." So the pendulum swings, now violently, now slowly; and every institution not only carries within it the seeds of its own dissolution, but prepares the way for its most hated rival. William Ralph Inge "Democracy and the Future" The Atlantic Monthly (March 1922) ---Assert Atheistic, Liberal Communism in such a way people will go the intended direction of Ultra-Orthodox Religious Fascism. Hegelian Dialectic: Problem, Reaction, Solution Problem: Liberals are destroying everything; The economy, entertainment and society are crumbling under their leadership (institution). Unless they are stopped, the US/West will become a Communist society. Reaction: We need a leader who will fight for us and save us from Communism, restore the economy, and reset everything so it will be as it was before. Solution: A revolutionary change of power in which Conservatives can restore the nation and Make America Great Again. Eliminate all possible Marxist threats to our "Democracy" by labeling them as domestic terr-rists (treason to the State) and deplorables who are not worthy to live. Promise to make the US "One Nation, *Under God* " by enforcing religious laws (from the Talmud) passed in 1991 during George "1000 Points of Light, a New World Order" Bush Sr's administration called the Seven Laws of Noah. Step 3 of the Four Steps: Crisis - this is a major step lasting up to six weeks and involves a revolutionary change of power. This is where a cataclysmic event (civil war, invasion) upsets and divides the country thereby creating panic among the citizens. Recent examples include the 2011 upheavals in the Middle East, most notably Egypt and Libya. To Americans, symptoms would include circumventing the Constitution and altering the checks and balances of government, and possibly martial law. Creation of economic, financial, and national security crisis. Also includes social crisis and breakdown of previous self-evident restrictions on moral behavior. Cloward Piven approach to overloading the system, more takers than producers. The crisis produces benevolent leaders who will promise to deliver things to meet people's needs (Hope and Change) through social and economic justice. False illusions that the situation is under control if strategic directions are followed. (Bailouts, regulations of industry and so forth). ---Immorality runs rampant and is praised by the Liberal MSM/Social Media. ---Thanks to Democrat policies on open borders, we have less jobs to go around, and more people to take care of through our taxes. ---Liberals promote certain people based on gender, race and sexuality, not merit, skill or actually being qualified/the right choice for the position. This is not social and economic justice, it's favoritism and bigotry while claiming to be the opposite. (Sorry for the self-censorship here, but it's necessary if I want to post this.) US Pubb Lick Law Won zee roh Too dash Won Fore Whereas Congress recognizes *the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our, great Nation was founded;* Whereas *these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, when they were known as the Seven N-ahide Laws;* Whereas *without these ethical values and principles the edifice of civilization stands in serious peril of returning to chaos; Whereas society is profoundly concerned with the recent weakening of these principles that has resulted in crises that beleaguer and threaten the fabric of civilized society;* Whereas the justified preoccupation with these crises *must not let the citizens of this Nation lose sight of their responsibility to transmit these historical ethical values from our distinguished past to the generations of the future;* Whereas the Lubavitch movement has fostered and promoted these ethical values and principles throughout the world; Whereas Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, leader of the Lubavitch movement, is universally respected and revered and his eighty-ninth birthday falls on March 26, 1991: Whereas in tribute to this great spiritual leader, “the rebbe”, this, his ninetieth year will be seen as one of “education and giving”, the year in which we turn to education and charity to *return the world to the moral and ethical values contained in the Seven No-hide Laws:*

It wasn’t to your tastes, but you saw that people who like the games enjoyed it, and you’re a big enough man to say “sure, if the game fans liked it it’s an alright adaptation.” Truly a terrible way to word what I’m trying to say but whatevs. I’m just glad it didn’t make this list because it resonated with the folks who knew Five Nights.

A bit off topic but since Jeremy brought it up, Nemesis could have been a good Star Trek movie. I love the concept of Picard meeting a clone of himself and seeing a side to him that is more leaning towards violence but for the ultimate goal that he himself desires, “peace”. That dinner scene between the two Picards before the film really got bad was actually pretty decent and helped me see the potential hidden within. There could have something worth exploring there.

I'm not even a hardcore Indiana Jones fan and "Dial of Destiny" still managed to offend me a lot by just being one of the worst adventure films I've ever seen. It's down there with "Mummy 3" and that sort of trash: lame villains, awful dialogue, bad story that doesn't excuse the film being as long as it is, TERRIBLE CGI effects where nothing looks convincing or good, seriously I'm so sick of movies looking the way "Dial of Destiny" does, it's like a Superbowl commercial with so much post production filters and terrible sets. The more I think about it the movie I despise it, it's down there with the post-Salvation Terminator movies, the Jurassic World trilogy and The Thing prequel when it comes to utterly tone-deaf legacy sequels.

Really don't get the belief that "Worst of the Year" lists need to go. I think constructive criticism is just as essential to filmmaking in the 21st century as strong praise is. Also I do respect that Jeremy mainly focuses on mainstream movies that he hated rather than go after stuff that is either low budget and/or a good portion of the general public hasn't heard of.

It works as a contrast, but the reason most people dislike it is because it's very popular, it does very well on all media and if someone takes that as a sign that more of their effort and content should be that. You'll get very unpleasant and whinge'y content akin to the cinemasins type of youtube era. But if you don't have that passion and love of the craft to contrast it with, it just becomes garbage.

@@lukesmale24 The dude spent his own money reviewing films all year. He owns and runs a youtube channel in 2023. Ad rates for every form of media are in the toilet. That is an objective fact. top 10 lists are evergreen money making content have been, will be and are now and will be for all time. Statistically if you reviewed films all year a high percentage would be bad and you would hate some of them. Hence they end up in the list. Its his list and the criteria are solely up to him.
