Yep. The movie is Canon to the Manga and Kaiba didn't get to witness the Ceremonial Duel. He got there too late and he then later created "Duel Links" system to find a way into the Afterlife to Duel him. Search "Transcendent Game" it served as a preface for the movie.

Well, besides plot convenience, you could say that it was thanks to Kaiba for giving Yugi the Millennium Puzzle and bullying him into bringing the Pharaoh back to life... So in a sense yes, Kaiba brought the Pharaoh, and also went to the afterlife to challenge him. Not giving Yugi the M.P and pressure him to bring Atem back (plus plot) and the pharaoh would have not appeared once again.

Actually, in the Japanese version of the scene where Marik uses Ra on Joey, Kaiba actually praised him for making Marik go that far, having the internal monologue "Not bad for a deadbeat". I believe this is actually the closest thing to respect Kaiba ever showed Joey. Also, with Kaiba's threat in Duelist Kingdom, I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing in his situation. Mokuba is the only meaningful family he has left. Their parents died when they were kids, and their remaining family stole their inheritance and left them in an orphanage. And while many of Kaiba's acts are despicable, he's not an absolutely terrible person. He actually refused to be adopted unless Mokuba was adopted along with him. And with what he said to Alister, he was originally pointing out the hypocrisy in Allister's actions, saying " How many orphans will you create? How many brothers separated like you and your brother?" In short, quite a few of Kaiba's worst moments were the result of dub choices ruining his character.

Think that's bad? In the manga, kaiba did the following: 1. Created an amusement park full of lethal booby traps and marketed it towards children. He attempted to kill yugi by electrocution, decapitation, being crushed by a giant cube, and being shot by trained military personnel. 2. He drove his stepfather to suicide. Don't get me wrong, Gozaburo was absolute scum, but Kaiba still acted maliciously and felt no remorse for what happened. 3. Invented a torture device that could drive someone insane in minutes. He tested it on humans off screen and told yugi about it. Kaiba then uses it to torture Grandpa in order to extort Yugi. Finally, Kaiba uses the device on Mokuba as punishment for losing a game. Yugi pulled Mokuba out, but Kaiba was going to leave him in there. 4. In order to get the first 3 blue eyes cards, Kaiba arranged the deaths of their previous owners. He didn't obtain any of them legitimately. 5. We also know that kaiba had assassins, a serial killer, and a torture expert on payroll at the time. The torture expert is implied to be a war criminal. Kaiba was a completely different character before he became an anti hero on Duelist kingdom

The amusement park, falling cube room, and military shootout happened and the torture box was used on grandpa, but the line about "human testing" was left out. There's also no mention of kaiba assassinating the blue eyes owners in season 0's anime, but he definitely stole the cards. Other things were taken out of season 0. For example, the guillotine was replaced with a giant robot and the electrocution scene was taken out entirely. Gozaburo's suicide was also taken out. Gozaburo walks to the window and considers it, but faints before he can do anything.

I’m not going to lie. I really see a lot of NPD or maybe at least BPD with NPD traits in his character. I think while he seems to have low empathy (not willing to even stop a tournament pause even with legitimate deadly consequences for Joey, not caring his supposed step brother Noah was neglected, threatening his own life as a manipulation tactic etc.) even after Yugi dispeled his darkness , (so technically, we mainly see him as one of the best versions we’d be able to see him kinda) being unable to stop thinking of scenarios as black and white extremes (“If I can’t win this tournament for this island i built; I’m blowing it up”), needing external validation in being the *best dueler* somewhat to feel worthy and deserving of respect (and maybe gain some supply, idk if that would be the case) , himself experiencing likely severe C-PTSD from abuse as a child, etc. leading to him consequently treating Mokuba as an expendable when he punishes him with a literal torture device (mirroring how he interpreted familial relationships) A lot of it shows his trauma did a lot more damage that shapes him overall the older I see him develop overall.. He has the capacity to show his cognitive empathy improving the more exposure he has to Yugi’s friend group and adjusting his social cues to be a bit less transactional, and is able to show respect to others more readily with that support he claims no need of as well.

Yes. In English version they removed any death scenes and sexualy suggestive scenes. For example, there's a moment when Kisara is naked in the original, but they dressed her up in English, or when Tea is about to get raped, but they changed it into getting robbed. Or when she's concerned that Bakura will stare at her but, that's completely removed. Or when Kaiba shoots YuGi. OK, that one was a joke.

The reason Kaiba is such a jerk was because he unknowingly got himself Mokuba adapted by a CEO aka Gozaburo Kaiba who made Kaiba the way he is, that and after their parents' deaths their relatives used up their inheritance and left them at an orphanage which was one of the reasons why he's very protective of Mokuba, it could be possible that Kaiba may have abandonment issues with those certain relatives and have a lot of resentment towards them as much as towards Gozaburo.

Wheeler was not a third rate duelist, and Seto was an idiot for treating him like one. Wheeler was a second rat or possibly even a first rate duelist among the ranks of Yugi, Mai, and Bakura. He was finished in the top four in Duelist Kingdom and in Battle City. Seto Kaiba was a horrible person. Also, the fact that he admits Mai is a good duelist while Joey is as good of one as her, yet he does not acknowledge that, is stupid.

In the original manga he's like a million times darker For example, he forced the foreign possessor of one of his blue eyes to *commit suicide* just so that he could gain the possession of it, he created Death-T where he literally hired serial killers just so that Yugi and the others won't make it to the top, literally threatening to kill a bunch of children to beat Yugi in a card game. He also attempted to murder Mokuba when he lost to a duel against Atem, which is... Pretty dark. In fact, he was SO evil and broken in the beginning of the manga Yugi had to use the penalty game "mind crush" on him, which quite literally broke Kaiba's brain in pieces and sent him to a coma during more than half of duelist kingdom, where he had to revisit his entire life and rebuild his entire spirit piece by piece in order to wake up as a "better person". But even so he still stayed a jerk lmao (at least he had character development in the manga)

The one thing that 4Kids had that were just as good as the likes of Funimation and ADV Films and that was their enormous talent pool from the NYC Area. While nowadays it's gone down since 4Kids but in it's heyday the NYC Area Voice Actors and Actresses were just as good and famous as the ones that were in The Dallas Fort Worth Houston and heck even LA talents in voice acting and 4Kids dubs of Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh shows it. Sure 4Kids as a dubbing company were bad but if you look at the other parts of dubbing they were good in one area and that was their voice actors and actresses they were and still are fan favorites even nowadays. Dan Green Wayne Grayson Eric Stuart Veronica Taylor Rachael Lillis Lisa Ortiz they're still very popular voice actors and actresses nowadays. That's why I hate it when people say that 4Kids were a bad dubbing studio because they were technically good in the talent pool that they had. If they changed the way they dubbed anime and did more uncensored animes I think they would still be around.

In Kaiba's defense for number 9, Gozaburo was one of the worst parents ever, on top of being a war business man. I don't blame Seto for trying to dethrone him. Hell, even Noah, his biological son, turned on him. Also, if you check on a filler from before Battle City, you'll see that the big 5 betrayed Kaiba first. They reprogrammed his virtual world and tried to trap him in there. EDIT: just finished watching. I'm afraid I can't defend any of the other things on this list. Kaiba may not be as bad as Zigfried, but those actions really make me sick. I feel bad for Mokuba for having that kind of brother. At least Mokuba was reasonable.

If you were including the manga, you'd have included the entire Death T arc, which included Kaiba hiring murderous mercenaries and a known serial killer to waste Yugi and friends (including Tristan's/Honda's baby nephew). Also, his mistreatment of Mokuba prior to and during that arc (not even counting how, in the Virtual World arc of the anime, he mistreated Mokuba MORE as part of his plot to overthrow Gozaburo - something Noah rightly pointed out). Then there was his actions before Yu-Gi-Oh GX, where he deliberately made the Slifer Red dorm the lowest of the three at Duel Academy, resulting in even more elitism among the students.
