Claissic X-Men 1 is indeed ... classic and it deserves all the praise you gave it, I would put X-Men 4 (Lee) on there because Wolverine looks like a feral vampire on it. There's a few Silvestri covers that would end up on my top 10 like 252 or 234. Great list for sure!

Classic X-men has a lot of underrated covers. Great covers that people just don't care about because they're reprints.

I would argue that X-Men 50 IS Polaris’s first app. That’s when we see her first get her powers… where she becomes more than Bobby’s random girlfriend. Most 1st appearances are counted when the character actually has their powers/costume. The first app. issue is so random and doesn’t really matter that much… but that is just my opinion. X-Men 50 is such a great cover.

Fun little thought experiment, but no love for the Silver Age books other than XM50? Could make an argument that XM1, XM4, and XM14 (my personal favorite) should all be included.
