i love Link's Awakening. the 'it was all a dream' plot twist is a handled a little bit different than the cliche as the player is made aware of it all being a dream while the dream is still going. So you have to end the dream to beat the game, wiping from existence everyone on the island.

My list: 10. Minish Cap 9. Link's Awakening 8. Majora's Mask 7. The Oracle games (I count them as the same adventure. But if I had to pick one over the other, I prefer Seasons over Ages) 6. Link Between Worlds 5. Twilight Princess 4. Link to the Past 3. Ocarina of Time 2. Wind Waker HD (SPECIFICALLY the HD remake. Without the changes that version made, this would be lower on the list, though still in my Top 10 somewhere) 1. Skyward Sword It also came to my attention when making this list that you don't leave very many of them out when making a Top 10. xD And after leaving out the four I knew were going to be at the bottom (Zelda, Zelda II, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks), it wasn't very hard to narrow down which extra ones to lop off. xD

That's a strange list. Normally, I see either Time at 1 with Wild/Mask, etc. or I see Sword, Wind, Past, etc. at one, nowhere near Time/Mask, etc. You got that list close to the latter, only, Time is 3rd when it normally isn't. I guess you accepted the fact that Time is simply a great game, regardless of what type of Zelda games you like the most. People need to understand there are two clear groups of Zelda games, hence such differing views. Most likely this is a good thing and was very wise of Nintendo. If they were all Sword or all Time or all Past, I don't think anybody would like that, not even fans of Sword (unless they were stupid and selfish).

Can I ask why Ocarina of Time is so high on your list yet Mask and other like-minded games are so low? Normally, they go together. Also, no Zelda 2 or 1986? Just wondering because I normally see Time, Mask, and Wild at the top or bottom, not split up. And, if Twilight and such is first, then it normally goes with Sword, etc. You seem to have a different view to most people, which is interesting. :D P.S Thoughts on Link's Crossbow Training? I am obsessed with it (though, naturally, it's not a 'real' Zelda game, so, it's not great, just great fun!)

I really can't help but feel that some of the older Zelda games (such as ALttP, the original, or OoT) don't hold up unless you played them as a kid. Because if you did play them as a kid, you already know all the secrets and stuff. There's no frustration because you already know what you're doing. But for someone who started with one of the later Zelda games, Wind Waker for example, most of the older ones would just feel cryptic from things like lack of dialogue that gives you information you need to progress.

OoT (Just play the game and you will know its top 5 material tho this is the spot i think it deserves) 2.Wind Waker (exploring the world is amazing some of if not the best boss fights my favorite story in the zelda games 2nd best graphics and ganondorf was a treasure of a villain) 1. I never owned a Nintendo home console, so I only have the experience of three Zelda games: Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. Minish Cap is probably my favorite. It's an addicting adventure, it's rewarding, it's packed with secrets, and it just works really well. Phantom Hourglass sucked. Okay, maybe that's too strong a word, but everyone knows the horror of the "Do it again, and again, and again" dungeon and... THAT puzzle. I don't even need to be more specific than that. If you've played Phantom Hourglass, you know exactly what THAT puzzle is. Spirit Tracks was a pretty good improvement on Phantom Hourglass; I liked it quite a bit. Had some great music too.

Just as warning, this comment will probably get long... That'll happen when talking about multiple points though. I'm going to go on record predicting that it'll be hard to rank Breath of the Wild against the other Zelda games even years down the line... I've been playing it and loving it for what it is, but due to the sheer scale of it... I get the feeling it's going to be a hard game to really want to replay after I finish this run of it. Especially for me, being a completionist of sorts, but I just feel like it's going to end up as one of those games that you love but can't go back to because it won't be as special the second time around. I could be wrong, of course. I was very wrong in predicting that Nintendo'd miss the mark with it, trying so hard to be Skyrim that it forgot to give compelling tasks to do while exploring, but they definitely made it feel rewarding to explore the world, even for a more completionist, goal-oriented player like me, and that takes some serious skill in a game this scale. But it's just so different, and yet so familiar, that it just... I feel like it's going to be unfair to it or to the rest of the series to try to directly compare them. I'm going to say that... I'd switch TP and SS, at least. Honestly... The problems with TP are too glaring to me to accept Midna as making up for them, even if I love her as much as you do. The beginning of TP is just so slow, and it just blurs into where it builds up that you feel almost cheated when you suddenly get to the first dungeon. The music... I honestly have a couple parts I remember as good (the title screen, Hyrule Field, Midna's Lament, and Hyrule Castle) but the rest of my memories are negative. The enemy music is bland and the way it interrupts the regular music and then itself when it ends is just beyond annoying after a while (especially when it kills the mood by overriding Midna's Lament...), and I would sooner drop an anvil on my toes than subject myself to more of the Ordon Village music than necessary. Add in that it has probably my least favorite 3D Zelda dungeon ever (Waiting Room in the Sky), and... yeah... The Double Clawshots are nice though. Skyward Sword, on the other hand... I honestly find that its pacing issues, at least to my tastes, are much less pronounced, and I never had problems with the sword combat or even Fi. ...My main complaint with Skyward Sword is the emptiness and disorganization of the skyfield compared to the Great Sea (which had much better exploratory value because of its organization and distribution of points of interest, something that I kinda miss in BotW from time to time admittedly even if that's technically a lot less empty). But what SS gets right, in my opinion, it gets right a lot more than people give it credit for. Heck, I sometimes rank it above OoT, though they'd probably end up fairly close no matter which I'd say I like better at any given point. (That's true of basically every Zelda game actually, I love them all except the first two.) ...I'm going to get TONS of flak for this, but... I'd switch A Link Between Worlds and A Link to the Past, and maybe drop ALTTP a few more places beyond that. Yes, it's a classic and there's not much it does wrong (aside from that god-awful bottle sub-menu...) but... I think what you said you love about it is exactly why I find it relatively less impressive: it's solid all around without being flashy about it. I just find that the dungeon design in ALTTP is just so... basic, vanilla. It's understandable since the series was still finding itself and it was the first game to have more detailed layouts and such than the outright blockiness of the original, and I respect that. And being the first game in the series I played, I have certain nostalgia for the music, visuals, overworld, and that classic title screen with the Triforce. But it's just... The package is solid and a great game by any standards, but I find it hard to say it stands out compared to the rest of the series, and that's what's being compared here. Meanwhile, I have a similarly hard time finding anything I dislike about ALBW, and it does have the flash to stand out compared to the other games. It took everything that I do find memorable about ALTTP, and brought it to the present of the series while also having some experimenting that led the way to what BotW did. Hands down, it was my favorite 2D Zelda game in 2013 when it came out, and remains so today. And one more weird point... While the top three I'd say are good, I'd go OoT

Twilight princess is my favorite even though I KNOW it isn't objectively the best. I played it in the 6th grade and while I had been playing Zelda my whole life, it's the first one I beat and darker grittier more realistic art styles have always been something I appreciated more even as a child in 2003, I didn't appreciate windwaker's style as much when I played it on the collector edition demo. TP has great story telling, epic, dark, heart breaking and beautiful moments in its story. So I know it is not the best Zelda, but my rugged confident heroic twilight Link will ALWAYS be my favorite Link.

While Ocarina of Time is not my favorite Zelda game (hello Wind Waker), as someone who doesn't have the nostalgic attachment maybe people do, I think the game has aged very well aside from the obvious visual component (except the Water Temple, that place is gorgeous still). The only parts that didn't is the camera lock on system, which can be inconsistent and occasionally causes you to lose track of where you want to look. But that's pretty minor for me. I actually think the camera in OoT works better than in TP....

Unpopular opinion. Ocarina of Time and Link To The Past just don't do it for me. I l really like these games, I have immense respect for how revolutionary they were for the time and how they did things for gaming that might not ever be replicated. But I simply don't enjoy them as much as some of my favorites. Link Between Worlds is a perfect (sequel?) re-imagining of Link To The Past. It takes everything that made the original great, improves on it, and add news element that work perfectly. Games like Windwaker made vast improvements to the 3D formula. Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time are great, and revolutionary for sure. But they are by no means perfect games.

The windwaker graphics was really only an issue because it felt like a lie. They showed off that demo of realistic graphics so they made expectstions.

You should have added Breath of the Wild in so we wouldn't all predict the Ocarina of Time cliche. We all knew it was going to be #1 without BotW.

This guy's a real one & prob from my gen. for choosing ocarina & putting majora at 3. There seems to be band wagon hype on majora just to not pick oot.

Don’t get me wrong I love ocarina of time but I do have to admit what yours mask has a very interesting NPC conversations/activity and most of the NPC’s don’t do the same thing over and over and over
Majora's mask was always my favorite but I'm replaying at the moment and I just find it's really depressing me 😬 I honestly don't know what my favorite is anymore

My top picks: Twilight Princess Minish Cap Majora's Mask Wind Waker Spirit Tracks (minus the sage duets) Ocarina of Time A Link Between Worlds Oracle of Seasons (minus the dungeons. I'm sorry, I just hate the dungeons in this one)

5 Best Zelda Games of All-time 1. Ocarina of Time 2. A Link Between Worlds 3. A Link to the Past 4. Spirit Tracks 5. Original LOZ game (1986-1987) 2 Worst Legend of Zelda games; 1. Zelda II 2. Majora's Mask. A Link Between Worlds was the 9th game I played. Game Boy and Game Cube I never played. So Windwaker, Four Swords and Minish Cap get no rating when u never played them!
