Here is my weekly edition of the Top 100 fantasy books! Yes...I know it hasn't been EXACTLY a week, kinda more like two weeks...but hear me out! I'm 38. In April I will be 39. Just because I'm ALMOST 39 doesn't mean I am 39. So this video is officially ONE week old, because it hasn't hit two weeks old yet.

The thing I noticed about the Tawny Man Trilogy, and what I think makes people not like it as much, is that the whole series reads much more like a single book. Each individual book doesn't really have the set ups + pay off's that you usually get in a single instalment in a series, which makes them individually weaker.

Just wanted to drop a comment saying thank you for this new series, so thorough and informative.

Great video. I've read 2 of these (FFC and BSC) and plan to read 5 of the others mentioned. Yay, nothing new to add to my already-way-to-long TBR 🙂

Of Blood and Bone is awesome, continues Gwynne's unforgettable characterisation and epic battles. I love that Drem is partly based on his son Will

The Realm of the Elderlings is hands down my favorite bigger series. I typically don’t re-read books but will 100% return to this series in the future.

When do you anticipate doing your re-read of MBotF? I'm on my first read currently, about halfway through Deadhouse Gates (and absolutely loving every page). I'm not doing a binge-read through the series, though. I plan to read ~3 books between each installment, with the ultimate goal of completing the main 10 around this time next year. I know I'm early, but I'm getting a strong feeling that I'll want to dive right back in with a re-read combining the "main 10" with the ICE novels in 2025. If you're planning to start your re-read around then, I'd be stoked to follow along on your Discord channel! Thanks for your content. You have been a huge inspiration for getting me back into reading over the past few years along with Brian Lee Durfee and Mike's Book Reviews. Your recommendations have been stellar and I appreciate you more than you know. Cheers!

I paused The Wandering End (after The General of Izril) to binge The Farseer Trilogy. W-O-W!!! Superb, intense, wonderful! I can't wait to read the rest of The Realm of the Elderlings!

I love seeing A Feast for Crows on there. A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite series, and AFFC and ADWD are both great books. I think they’re unfairly criticized because they aren’t as strong as the first 3, but the first 3 are universally agreed upon as some of the best books ever written. If you compare AFFC and ADWD to all other fantasy books, they’re still better than most.

Matt, I regret to inform you that I have no heart. I'm 3/4 of the way through Assassin's Quest and I haven't cried once during this trilogy. lol Sure, things are pretty terrible at times, but tbh some of the things that I thought might happen that would have been the worst of the worst didn't happen. It's been more tame than a George RR Martin novel.

I read the whole trilogy and didn't cry.

I never made it through the slog in Wheel of time. I was in the situation where I had to wait for years on the next book and I gave up.
@shawnturpin1977 ай бұрын
I read the slog books as they came out and then I reread the whole series straight through and the slog books are definitely much better when you can immediately start the next book.

The Faithful and the Fallen series was good, but not my favorite. One part that I really loved was the whole storyline with Veradis and the bright sun stuff. I thought that was super interesting and memorable. I read that series almost 4 years ago, I think, and I still remember it.
@Selitos6768 ай бұрын
I also felt that it was good and not great. Maybe it was the writing but I was always just a little bit bored, couldn’t connect to most of the characters. Veradis and corban were the only characters and storylines that I liked. And his other 2 series are a step down imo.
@akellerhouse838 ай бұрын
@Selitos676 I DNF'D the next series after FatF. I don't know what my problem was. I just couldn't get into it. I haven't started his newest one, but I am considering it.
@Selitos6768 ай бұрын
@@akellerhouse83 same, I always intended to go back and read a time of blood but 2 years later and I still haven’t. Shadow of the Gods was really bad for me, slow, boring and didn’t connect to any characters. If you didn’t love other JG books, it’s more of the same but less epic so I doubt you’d like it. But everything is worth a try for yourself.

I will be patient...but you HAVE to read The Runelords by David Farland. Specifically the first four. But...man...im just 10% positive youd love it. Its got Sandersons favorite magic system, and the man taught Sanderson, and Brian Lee Durfee how to write.

Maybe it's just me, but I am currently reading guards guards about 70% done and while I find it good I just don't think it's that funny, it was a little funny at the start, but i just don't find most of the humor funny. Like there are chapters in the first law that alone made me laugh more than guards guards has done so far

Humor is completely subjective, so this humor just isn't your thing. That's totally fine!
