Public transit is so underrated. I love being able to get around without a car. Soo much of the city is accessable by transit I always feel like I can go explore, work, or play without having to worry about how to get there.
@JacobKlippenstein2 жыл бұрын
@@AlanDantes76 I've lived in Chicago for 15 years and I've never had a problem on public transit. Yes, everybody is welcome on the CTA, but overall it is safer than driving. And no, it does not generally smell like piss. Just be careful where you sit. If you aren't sure just don't sit there. Not that hard.

I moved to Chicago 42 years ago (in 1980) from Indiana. I came for a job. I didn't plan on staying this long, but then I married a Chicagoan, bought a house here, and had a kid here. Even though I'm a country girl at heart, and it took me over 10 years to decide I liked Chicago, I really love it now. We get SO much bad press. I really HATE "Chiraq!" And Chicago is FAR from "the murder capital of the country," but we still can't shake the bad press. Thank you for doing the videos showing the good things about Chicago! You're doing the city a service, and it's appreciated!

I came back to Chicago from Virginia because of the public transportation and friends. My friend came back, oddly enough, because he couldn't stand the constant 80 degree weather in Hawaii. While it sounds nice, after 2 years, he got tired of it and wanted some cold weather and snow as well. Also, his buddies are here. Oh yeah, and I missed going to Sox games!

#1 reason is walkability: from my condo on Lake Shore Drive I am next to Lincoln Park, a tunnel from North Av Beach, a lakefront walk to downtown. I can walk to grocery stores, nightclubs, El Stops. The bus stops by my front door, or I can walk to more busses on State or Clark. The only real downside is the winter, but that's when I live in SoCal or Mexico. Keep making this great videos. Maybe do one about all the great universities in the city.

Chicago's real estate is relatively affordable for a big city. There is no way I'd be able to afford my condo if it were in NYC or SFO. All I'd be able to buy is a postage stamp sized apartment in any other Alpha city.

What areas look most like manhattan new york? My whole family and I were born in chicago but I didn't live there long and I'm planning to move back in a few years. I really love new york as I've heard it's far more urban but moving than far is a big commitment so I want to find an apartment somewhere that looks like manhattan. I love high rises and big city vibes. I know the loop is the most urban area but how do I live there easily?

Neighborhoods that approximate a part of the Manhattan experience would be: The Loop, Streeterville, The South Loop, Old Town, parts of Lincoln Park, and the West Loop.

I know LA will have the most out of anywhere else but it is also crazy expensive and I feel it could be harder to move to since I’m not from the West Coast. I don’t know if you can answer this but do you know Chicago has plenty and enough of a network to get you somewhere?
