I recently bought the DWF and couldn’t be happier. It was on offer @ £789 in the UK in July which made it over £300 cheaper than the Samsung with its maximum discounts. It is now only £900 in the uk so still way cheaper than most of its rivals. I came from the G7 Odyssey which is a superb screen but the DWF is a different league. Definitely recommended it to anyone!

My man I bought the Alienware AW34DWF because of your original video and I’ve loved this monitor to no end. The more recent firmware update definitely made it just that much better and actually get to enjoy my HDR settings. Even though I kind of want to reduce in size to a 27” since I play a lot of FPS games. Still this monitor has given me zero issues and remains an absolute quality product out of AW. Kind of hope AW will put out a 27” of the same standard and quality as this one. They need to give up on PCs and stick with monitors full time.

If you're an FPS player then you definitely made the right choice going DWF! I originally purchased the DW (non-F) and the input lag is way worse than other OLED displays I've used. When playing a 60FPS game, it felt like my mousepad was made of ice and my mouse was wearing iceskates~

Have both the DWF and 27GR95 mounted right now with the intent of sending one back. Got the Alienware for $799 and the LG for $849. I had decided yesterday that I’m going to send the LG back, but this video just positively reinforced that decision.

What's the reason? I'm a very competitive player, 240hz vs 165hz is a deal breaker but I also do a lot of photo editing
@wolfmanwarden2849
@wolfmanwarden2849 Жыл бұрын
@@DaftFanPunk the GR95 is very nice, BUT I’m in my mid 30s now and want a nice balance in my gaming experiences. Truthfully this came down to my personal preference and the protections you get with the warranty. The Alienware, for me, provides good responsiveness for multiplayer and excellent color and picture for single player titles. The color and HDR experience feels superior to me on the Alienware as well. The blacks were absolutely crushed on the LG. I’d say that’s the main drawback of that monitor. The brightness didn’t bother me on the LG, but the Alienware is also superior there and I don’t think it’s close. The Alienware also looks better in SDR content than the LG and I’d say that is actually important to consider. The warranty is superior on the Alienware, though I believe LG did add a 2 year burn in warranty for the 27” monitor. I can’t speak to photo editing, but I’ve read other places that OLED is not advisable there due to burn in risk, though I’ve read other places that it’s worth the risk. My guess is that the Alienware would be a superior experience in that regard unless you don’t want the curve during editing and don’t need a bright monitor. Sorry for being so long winded.

Joined the 42" C2 gang at the start of the year and absolutely loving it. Didn't take me long to see why it's a popular choice. @@alanclark9000 I love OLED and have an LG OLED in my living room. @parasitegd
@parasitegd Жыл бұрын
@@alanclark9000 OLED is out of the question for "regular" desktop use, where you have a lot of static pixels on the screen on same spots for hours and hours (baby sitting the monitor, which can be annoying when you do work, and burn-in is still pretty much guaranteed after some time). If you do only gaming, then sure OLED would be THE choice (and it is for TVs), but for productivity and regular usage (work+chill+gaming) mini-LED seems to be the best option. At least on paper. Therefore we need more hands on quality reviews to see, if they are worth the price or should we stick to LCD monitors.
@alanclark9000
@alanclark9000 Жыл бұрын
@parasitegd there's a lot of youtubers that review different oled monitors. After watching so many, you will think you will get burn in with any oled. It's just these oled monitors having the problems. From the c1 to c3 and b1 to b3 all have pixel shift. Plus the c1 isn't the evo panel so even less chance of burn in. I rather have a led monitor for work because when you wanna chill out you don't wanna find yourself at your desk because it's the best display in your home, then you are gonna feel like you spend to much time there.
@parasitegd
@parasitegd Жыл бұрын
@@alanclark9000 I own C2 as a TV/screen for my consoles, but I would still not buy OLED for desktop use. The reviews out are nowhere near the position to test the burn in, because they just haven't used the monitors long enough to test such thing. Rtings are the best ones for such test and currently it doesn't look good for either QD-OLED nor WOLED screens (they just recently updated their test results and added few monitors besides TVs). Besides the burn in and the need to baby sit OLEDs, there's one big disadvantage for work/desktop use more - the clarity of the text.

I recently picked up the LG Ultra Gear 45” ultrawide OLED at BB for $1200USD. The next day it shot back up to $1600! It’s 240Hz and simply looks amazing. The LG Ultra Gear 45” is still on sale at my Best Buy location. It’s a nice screen, but I kinda wish it wasn’t as curved as it is now. I like the cut on the Samsung G8 and the bigger G9. Well, the specs of the screen are all nice except the pretty low resolution for such a big size. Unfortunately thats the most important thing at a monitor. I really hope in the future they will bring a similiar format out, but with a way higher pixel density. Right now I am using the LG Ultragear 38gn950-b, so 38 inch but 3840x1600 pixel, so even its smaller it has more than 20% pixels and these seems to be perfect for this size. WE'RE NUMBER 1! WE'RE NUMBER 1! I bought the AW3423DWF because of your videos and I freaking love it. The reviews helped me pick the DWF over the DW because of the input lag and firmware upgradeability. I was personally already happy with it even with "sub par" HDR performance and the fact the firmware is user upgradeable and alienware is supporting it is just that extra cherry on top. Absolutely thankful for these MUB videos! Your #2 was what I was cross shopping this with, hesitant on ultrawide but got it for less than the #2 monitor so even happier with my purchase! For anyone considering the AW3423DW and worried about input latency, it is only an issue if you are not using G-Sync, turning G-Sync on lowers the latency significantly, and I imagine almost everyone using this monitor for gaming will be using G-Sync. This puts it in the 5 MS range, about on par with an LG C2, but still slightly behind the DWF version and it's roughly 4 MS.

I’m extremely happy with my OLED G8. It was definitely expensive, especially since I’m not in the US, but I’m hoping it will last me a long time to make up for the upfront cost. I just really want to stress to anyone watching this that OLED displays are not for everyone. Beyond the G8’s price and questionable but ultimately non-factor choice of ports, it’s the display technology’s idiosyncrasies that will make or break your experience. Unless you’re careless or filthy rich, you will absolutely never forget that OLED monitor is at risk of burn in. Little things will gnaw at the edges of your mind - the borders between application windows, the line in the taskbar that ever so slightly juts out to indicate active apps even when the taskbar is hidden, even how long you’ve had the same webpage on in your browser - never mind how long you’ve been playing a certain game with all of its static UI. All of that shit will live rent free in your head 😅

@@raptorhacker599 yes, pixel shifting should help with any small or thin elements, like the taskbar issue. Bigger elements won't be shifted enough to help, but I reckon you really need to play for a long time with the same UI to get problems. I have the same OLED phone for about 5 years and I have some burn in from reddit, but that was me careless. After I noticed it I took precautions and nothing* else burned in and stopped getting worse. Asterisk* because this phone (S8+) has not 16:9 but 17:9 or similar aspect ratio, so I have very slightly burned in black bars from KZbin. I use zoom/fill feature in youtube to stop it from getting worse, but sometimes I need to see edges, so I have to switch modes. After 5 years, minimal burn in - satisfactory IMO.

Currently using a 38" ultrawide (LG 38G950) monitor for my daily driver and I couldn't imagine anything larger (e.g. 42"+). This already occupies over 3 feet (91+ cm) of width on the desktop and is borderline too large to enjoy comfortably from a standard sitting/standing position. Additionally, a large number of games and desktop apps just aren't enjoyable to use on an ultrawide this large or larger. For example, it's somewhat counterproductive to need to have a single desktop window comprise the entire screen in order to be able to type documents on center rather than offset to one side or the other. Or games where UI elements are just locked to distant and opposite corners of the monitor, requiring a ton of head swiveling to the point of disorientation, eye fatigue, and nausea. For this reason, I'm interested in keeping an eye on the 27-34" options, so thanks for a wide review and ranking sample.

I am looking forward to buy a monitor with the exact same screen ratio in the future of 3840/1600 = 2.4 So my dream in the future would be an LG OLED about 42 - 45 inch and 5184 x 2160p resolution (same 2.4 ratio) :D The contrast, HDR, the colors and the deep blacks of OLED is just completely unmatched. I have had first hand experience of serious burnin on a TV, and it was not pretty. Was hard to ignore. Especially since it only appeared in some scenes with specific colors made it even worse since it was harder to just ignore, basically blinking into view. Thankfully it was within 1 year, so within warranty. One concern with the recommended ASUS version of the 27' OLED is that seems ASUS's QA has not been up to snuff for a bit now. Fair number of consumer reviews are showing DOA units, units failing after a few days, etc. Add to that the general ASUS lack of quality on other products in the PC realm in the last few years As a personal example, recently got the ROG XGA27QM to replace a failed PG279Q; the newer display had really bad color settings out of the box, has flicker issues, and is oddly larger (bezel wise) than the older display it replaced. While the review displays may of been cherry picked, not sure the brand is one that deserves the high level of praise its been getting of late...

I agree with your list as it pertains to PC gaming. As for console gaming, the MSI MEG342C is the best QD-OLED for consoles because it supports all the HDMI 2.1 features like 4k120 with HDR and VRR. Even though the OLED G8 has HDMI 2.1 it can't upscale to 4k and it also can't do HDR at all on Xbox (unless I hook it up to my capture card, but even then the best I can get is 4k upscaling with HDR at only 60hz and without Game Mode for low latency). I'd greatly appreciate if you could possibly look into why this may be and it's apparently the same with the OLED G9 so it's not due to the micro HDMI port. Hopefully it's not the 40Gbps bandwidth vs 48 on the MSI and that Samsung is able to resolve it via a firmware update for both models, but some extra publicity regarding the issue would be much appreciated 👌
