True. My favorite JRPGs of all-time are Fire Emblem Thracia 776, Revelations Persona, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, as well as Arc The Lad: Twilight Of The Spirits. I also like Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Force and Omega Quintet. I need to play the Breath Of Fire (1 CIB for GBA, 2 CIB for GBA, and Dragon Quarter CIB for PS2) games I bought this year as well. I really need to buy Fairy Fencer F: Refrain Chord and Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2, too.

The AR Tonelico series looks pretty cool. I still have to buy AR Tonelico 2 (CIB). I bought AR Tonelico: Melody Of Elemia (CIB) earlier this year. The thing with Atlus (that is both nice and annoying, ngl) is that they're not releasing incomplete games in favour of giving the package later. They're releasing full games and then building on top of it with bonuses, which often times trivializes a sizeable portion of the original game (Persona 5R being one of the best AND worst example of this). You're not really meant to experience the second release first because of this, which is why many view them as side-grades rather than full on upgrades. It's not content that was cut or anything like that, it's content that was created *after* the initial release and the first release is very much intended to be the normal experience while the re-release is bonus. The annoying part is that it COULD definitely be released as DLC instead of a new package altogether. But tbf that's a culture that stems from the PS2 days when updates weren't exactly possible, so repackaged versions were kind of a frequent thing, like Kingdom Hearts with the Final Mix versions or Monster Hunter with the G/Ultimates. It's just that for whatever reason (money, most likely), Atlus never went the DLC route like the others did.

I thought the new Legend of Heroes of game would easily be my most anticipated game of the year. But noooo the gaming community said “hold my purse” and is dropped banger after banger. Even Unicorn Overlord has been amazing. I can’t wait for Metaphor and SMTV vengeance.

We had numerous releases in Q1, but the quality left much to be desired. - Persona 3: Despite enhanced visuals, the gameplay felt dated, resembling a PS2 game rather than a step forward from Persona 5. - FF7 Rebirth: Seemed forced, with the final battle lasting over 2 hours without a save point, highlighting a significant issue with Square Enix. - LAD: IW: Undoubtedly the standout game of Q1. Even now in mid-May, it keeps me engaged. With its compelling character development and captivating soundtrack, LAD: IW deserves recognition as one of the top games this year. The emotional impact of Kiryu battling cancer hits hard, adding depth to the storyline. The Yakuza series is growing into one of my favorites. - Unicorn Overload: Another strong title, though the reliance on auto-battle can make it monotonous. While I appreciate auto battle systems, I prefer the option to disable them and not solely depend on automation. I’m optimistic about Nordics surpassing Nox; the latter felt overly repetitive. A new Trails game is an instant purchase for me. It seems like JPRG studios have wrapped up their releases for a few years after a solid Q1. This is disappointing as the lineup for the rest of the year in other genres appears lackluster.

Seriously, why the hell is the “Suikoden I & II” remaster taking so long to release??? I bet hobbyists could have had this finished & looking better than the final product in 1/4 of the time… (and where is my “Suikoden V” remaster or re-release? Holy crap, that game’s storyline & characters are like the “Game of Thrones” of JRPG’s!!!). Also, support NIS America! Apparently, NIS Japan is suffering. Sucks cause NIS has brought us soooooo many games we in the U.S. would not have received otherwise. “Disgaea” would not have come over as early, & with the promotion it did if not for NIS.

God I hate console fanboyism. I got an Xbox but I don't celebrate p not getting games that do get released on PS5. Cuz, these aren't Playstation games, they're multi console, most are, at least. Hell, thanks to GamePass my wallet isn't crying. Unicorn Overlord didn't get a release on GP but I was happy to pay $$$ for it. Same for SMT5 if we don't get that on GP. Also, keep in mind, I did play many of these series from the 1st release so I'm more than knowledgable and have seen more console wars than 95% of gamers. Like, I played Dragon Warrior 1 and Final Fantasy 1 upon release. Yeah, I still have my old FF1 box. I didn't keep it in mint condition but I wasn't thinking there was gonna be a world at this point. I was also a big Fallout 1 then 2 fan so I kinda felt nuclear war was an eventuality. Which, thanks to Israel's desire to start a war w Iran, might yet happen. I gotta admit, tho, that pixel arts popularity for most gamers that don't have a decade of memories playing JRPGS on (s)nes is a nice surprise. As an older gamer u imagine kids can't appreciate that shit. But yeah I'm glad you kids do.

Most of these games get a PC release too, so it's not that these games have any form of exclusivity. Personally I a glad most games are multi-platform, because more people can enjoy them. As a side remark - I am no lover of pixel-art games, where it's obvious that the pixel art was intentional and not caused by a limited budget. I played games since my first Tic-Tac-Toe on the Cosmac Super Elf (1977). I am no stranger to pixel art games (Castle Quest, Repton and Citadel on the BBC-B computer), but I rather see more progress than going back to pixel art as a kind of "nostalgia" thingie.

It's definitely a daunting task. Took me a whole year just to get playthroughs done with Sky 1-3 and the Crossbell duology (with other games in between to break up the monotony) to be prepared for Cold Steel IV as I had jumped in to Cold Steel without prior experience in a Trails game. It is most definitely worth it though as the ending of CSIV wouldn't have hit as hard if I hadn't done so. I normally don't get emotional in RPGs and I love RPGs. Those that get me emotional by the end of it will always hold a special place

The trails games are garbage i dont recommend anyone to play it unless they are interested in the combat. i started with coldsteel 1 to 4. The narrative was garbage, but at least grabage is recyclable but people kept praising the politics and oh boy the was the worst thing about the game. The geopolitics in the game are so unrealistic to the point it hurts my brain the amount of suspense and make believe to cope with the bs is unreal. If you read and keep up with real life politics the politics in this game will make you wanna commit brain su. The fans out there keep telling me "it's because coldsteel is the worst of the series and i didn't play the previous 5". In my opinion i have played the 4 latest games back to back, and they have failed to make ANY INTERESTING story or political logic in 4 games back to back. How can you screw up this badly? So im gonna assume the 5 previous games to have at best a decent story and not well written. You're something to f up 4 games worth of story back to back. No logic in the story no logic in the politics. My problem with story it wasnt it was generic it was because how it was generic. You dont judge a story base in how it begins or ends but you judge it base in what happens in between. For example, what happens between point A to B or B to C. That doesn't mean the beginning and ending isnt important. But its easy to write a good beginning and good ending but its hard to write the details between the main ideas of the story.

The fuck you mean, garbage? Trails is EASILY one of thr best JRPGs out there. If you jumped into Cold Steel without playing the previous titles like I did (which I went back and played those to prepare for Cold Steel IV), then you are missing a massive chunk of that narrative. You're not going to get the full effect on the story unless you know what took place before it, especially when it all comes together in CSIV. You're complaining about the logic of the game which, again, requires prior knowledge of the events that led up to Cold Steel. The events in Crossbell, the business with the Bracer Guild from Sky, the backstory of vital characters and events that took place that aren't touched on in later titles much. You're doing yourself a major disservice if you don't know what the build-up was. You can't go into the Cold Steel games and think you'll understand the entire universe's lore because that's just not going to happen. After I finished CSIII, I went back to play through Sky 1-3 and the Crossbell games before CSIV released. When that was done, I went back to play through CSIII again and it was a TOTALLY different experience as every reference that was made in CSIII was now understood. I knew who the returning characters were and even though I had beaten the game already and know what happens, it was exciting to see those characters again. Excitement you wouldn't have gotten from a blind run with no prior experience into Trails.

In cold steel one the main villain are a group of terrorists that hate the Empire Chancellor because he improved their living standards. The gray hair dude hate the Empire Chancellor because his grandfather lost to him. His grandfather was not killed by the chancellor. In fact, he was kicked out of politics in his own country. because his grandfather was against making economic ties with the Empire, which improved the livelihood of the people. The people didn't believe in his grandfather claims not because they didn't believe in it. But because they were making s*** tons of money. from rising economy and good military safety by the empiral military police. if they believed in his grandfather claim that the terrorists who attacked the empire train track was the empire own police. who had no casualty cause they just blow some train tracks??? to make a look like some victims . anyhow no one in his country wanted to believe in his grandfather because if they do all the great economic and military benefits will go away. So when his grandfather died from natural causes (his grandfather died, and he was content with it). Despite the empires chancellor improving the economy, the livelihood of gray head people, and the safety of the gray head people. He wanted to kill the chancellor. Insane. Okay, let's talk about the other mercenary villain. This mercenary got money from the Nobles to attack the chancellor. This resulted in the chancellor defending his own life and killing everyone in his mercenary group except him. And for some f****** reason he's considered a good guy. You attacked a leader of a nation with no justification other than getting money from some Nobles. and the chancellor defending himself. And let's start with the girl villain. The reason she wants to kill the chancellor because he paid her own people money to destroy their town and build a train track over it. To improve both the economy and fast police response all over the country. (This happened in my country and people were happy to given loads of money for there own land). And the final one is apparently a professor in some University and he had a lot of disagreement with this Chancellor. So he decided to become a terrorist because nobody was listening to his opinion. These people have no problem in attacking underage kids in a f****** high school. Because they wants to kill a chancellor. The main heros of our story they hate the chancellor but pity the villains. Logic of cold steel 3 on 4 is so s***. Worse then the first two This was the f****** dumbest s*** I've ever read in my life. And that was roughly the main two games. So you telling me that playing the first 5 games will make this game understandable and logical. You're out of your mind. Let's not talk about the politics of 3 and 4 is far worse and insane.
