Jesus would have been emaciated regardless because his ribcage would have bulged out during his crucifixion. Also, karah means dig (often in the context of a well), the best translation is therefore bore, as in boring a well. This lines up with oryxan. Pierced comes from the Latin pertus meaning bored through, and this was used in the translation soon after it was adopted into the English language. Jesus is the well of living water, and at the hand of God they bored a well, and from his wounds flowed living water (interesting connection). Also, Job was written centuries after Psalm 22. Enjoyed the video though.

Two Americans asked God for guidance from their heart in whole sincerity, it was Allah who answered their call, one man came from Jewish family and other man came from U.S military family. Both men came to Islam for the miracle their experienced, true story posted on YT, unbias reports, both men started to hear Islamic call-to-prayer Azan in the middle of nowhere, both men reported same incident. Both men were former """enemies""" of Muslims. If it were NOT for the miracle, they wouldn't have bothered with Islam, both men were truly longing for God and guidance. If Jesus was born to a virgin - then how can he be in David’s bloodline? Joseph was in David’s bloodline according to Matthew but again Matthew claimed that Jesus was born to a virgin. It’s contradictory.

Also, according to most apocrypha and biologically speaking, at the time of her betrothal to Joseph, Mary was 12-14 years old, and he was 90 old. Contradictions from every angle.
@exoplanet1123 күн бұрын
The authors of those (conflicting) genealogies would surely have realized that. Thus, I conclude that those texts were originally written BEFORE the "born of a virgin" narrative was created, and then inserted into the next copy of the text. The earliest christians (Ebionites) denied Mary's virginity. Greeks had been worshiping virgins (parthenas) ever since they built the Parthenon, honoring the divine virgin Athena. At some point, I suspect, Christians trying to sell their new Jewish religion in Greece realized that if they just added a holy virgin to the story it would sell better.

According to the Bible, Joseph had two male parents (Heli and Jacob). Who was Joseph's father? From which of David's sons was Jesus descended, Solomon or Nathan? Solomon? "David the king begat Solomon ... and Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ." (Matthew 1:6-16) Or Nathan? "And Jesus ... Jesus was known as the son of Joseph. Joseph was the son of Heli... who was the son of Nathan, who was the son of David." (Luke 3:23-31)
@EvilXtianity23 күн бұрын
The word used in Hebrew scriptures (Isaiah 7:14) is "almah" ("young woman having reached puberty"). Importantly, the Hebrew word which could have been used, but wasn't, is "bethulah" ("virgin"). When Jewish scholars translated the Septuagint into Greek in the 3rd century BC they translated "almah" into Greek as "parthenos" ("virgin"). So then we got Isaiah's prophecy that the Messiah would be conceived by a virgin instead of by a young woman. The Gospel of Matthew (Luke copied Matthew's account; Mark and John do not assert a virgin birth) attempted to justify Jesus' divine parentage by tailoring the story of Jesus' conception to match the fulfilment of a prophecy that was never actually made. In the entire Christian corpus, the virgin birth is found only in the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke.

Daniel 9:26-27 (the final "week") clearly describes the 7-year period from 171-164 BC, centered around the persecution of the Jews by Antiochus Epiphanes. Most scholars understand it that way. Everything fits, almost perfectly... even the destruction of city and sanctuary. (1 Maccabees 1:21ff, 1:29ff, 4:36ff.) The two key indicators here are the stopping of sacrifices and the abomination of desolation... both incredibly rare events, and both which undeniably describe Antiochus. (Compare Daniel 9:26 to Daniel 11:31. Both passages mention both of these events. Daniel 11:31 is about Antiochus Epiphanes.) The covenant is described in 1 Maccabees 1:11ff, 1:41ff. The "anointed" is the high priest Onias III, murdered in 171 BC. IT would be an unbelievable coincidence if these events had nothing to do with the persecutions in 160s BC, especially since all 4 visions in Daniel 7-12 appear to end about 165 or 164 BC.
@exoplanet1123 күн бұрын
@mjt532 Thanks, that's useful. Based on this, when would you say Daniel was written? Looks like it would be sometime after 164 BCE but before a detailed memory of these events was lost. Perhaps around 100BCE. Is there a historical consensus? And was the book added to (like Isaiah) or redacted much in the subsequent years?
@mjt53223 күн бұрын
@@exoplanet11 Most scholars date this passage around 165-164 BC... because the prophecy falls apart in 164 BC. That's what happens in all 4 visions (Daniel 7, 8, 9, 10-12)... everything goes perfectly until 165 BC, and the prophecy fails at this point. I don't know if anyone thinks there was substantial redaction after this period of time. Many scholars think that the prayer (Daniel 9:4-19) was not part of the original prophecy. We have very early copies, but not early enough to preclude any redaction.

Yet somehow God didn't think it was necessary to make sure that that one word (the word translated as "they pierced") was faithfully preserved for us... the single most important word in the passage, by a longshot. To claim that Matthew is saying that Jesus is fulfilling prophecy is to misread scripture. What Matthew appears to say is that Jesus fulfils scripture. Now, what does that mean? Many biblical scholars point out that it could mean giving fuller meaning or even an expanded meaning? So, saying Jesus fulfilled prophecy could be just plain biblically wrong in the case of Matthew’s gospel

He was illiterate, and any first-hand disciples or others with knowledge of this "Son of God" must have been illiterate, too. There are zero first-hand accounts of his existence. Can you imagine JFK, but he was illiterate, and no one existed that had ever met him and was capable of writing down their dealings with him. But he was the leader of the free world. The argument that 'most scholars agree' is a stupid argument, IMO. First, most does not mean all. 2nd, at the end of the day, there are no concurrent extra-biblical accounts for him, the books written about him were too late to be eyewitness accounts, and the stories about him are either like stories of other dying/rising deities or in some cases, a few are written so they can be tied to OT prophecies.

Wrong. The books written about him were written by eye itnesses in their lifetime and within 40 years of his death that we have found so far. A new discovery may put that to within a decade. Also, there a Roman documents, and historians that saw Jesus, felt with him, and witnessed some portion of His life that collaborate it. I can Josephus wrote about his crucifixion which was also documents in formal Roman documents. Next..?
@starpenta23 күн бұрын
@CEPrepper you have been misled. Again, there are no Roman records that say anything about him. There are some that mention Christians but not Jesus himself. And if they bothered to crucify him, you would think they would have. About Josephus, the statement he made about Jesus is doubtful that it was written by him bc it pretty much says he lived and died for us. So why did he remain a Jew if he had written and believed that? In another verse he writes something like James, brother of Jesus, was walking down the street with (?). 2 things 1. Was that brother as in brother in Christ or 2. There were other Jesus' at the time, including a Jesus et Ben that did try to start something but was killed by Roman guards during a scuffle. IDK where you read that tvere were gospels that were contemporary to his supposed life but I haven't heard that any gospels that were contemporary to his life have ever been found. And I've read that several times by different sources. Besides, even if there was a gospel found only ten years after he died, memories are not reliable, if they were fishermen they would have been illiterate, none of them would know the birth story and there are times that stuf is written only the subject would know, not the author. BTW, read each gospel 1-5 chapters at a time. Compare and contrast. I dare you. It will be an eye-opening experience.
@starpenta22 күн бұрын
@@CEPrepper, IDK who mislead you but according to many PhD sources that have studied this subject, the book of Mark would have been earliest, and it was around 40 years later. But even if we were to believe that the gospels were written by the disciples ten years after, 1. they were fishermen so the likihood that they could read or write is none. 2. even if they relayed the story to someone who could...memories are faulty, especially in older people, and there were things mentioned they could not have possibly known. For example, how would they know what happened when he was born, or what he said to the fig tree when they weren't there, or what he said when he was alone in the Garden of Gethsemane? There are no Roman records of Jesus. There are a few 1st or 2nd century historians that wrote about the Christians, but nothing about Jesus himself. Josephus writings were problematic. If he thought Jesus were a real person that died and resurrected, then why did he remain a Jew? A challenge for you. Read each gospel chapters 1 & 2 at a time...compare and contrast them. You will have an eye-opening experience.

The Daniel 9:26, 27 says the sanctuary “and the city” would be destroyed. The era you described, it was only the sanctuary that was overtaken and they were still sacrificing, but their enemies were sacrificing pigs. But the entire city wasn’t completely destroyed until 70 CE, and the sacrifices ceased permanently. This is described in almost all biblical versions. It says “the city and the sanctuary would be destroyed” in verse 26 and then in verse 27 it says, “in the midst of the week” the sacrifice would cease for all overspreading of abominations, even until the consummation, (until the end). This backs up Isaiah 66:3 which calls the sacrifices an abomination.

1 maccabees 1:29-32 Two years later the king sent to the cities of Judah a chief collector of tribute, and he came to Jerusalem with a large force. 30Deceitfully he spoke peaceable words to them, and they believed him; but he suddenly fell upon the city, dealt it a severe blow, and destroyed many people of Israel. 31He plundered the city, burned it with fire, and tore down its houses and its surrounding walls. 32They took captive the women and children, and seized the livestock.
@judygodwin88863 күн бұрын
Interestingly, the scholars are still not sure about when the Maccabean took place. There are a lot of similarities in the names of the characters involved in both eras, such as Judas, Mattathias, Simon, Jonathan. Some scholars think the stories in the Maccabean period and the New Testament period could very well be one event during the same period. One of the Oldest Bibles that wrote of the Maccabean period is unfortunately the Septuagint and there are no originals of the actual book of the Maccabees. Unfortunately, after two thousand years, we have so many corrupted scriptures, mistakes, mistranslations, we can’t know for sure.

I always thought that if it felt shoehorned in, it was immediately suspect. For example, why care about joseph's lineage when he contributed 0% to the child born? Why would a census be ran at a time they wouldn't have done that, and despite knowing beforehand that that would force the very young and old alike to travel great distances if they'd left home, and overflow the city because the city wasn't meant for that many people? Why flee to egypt with a woman who just gave birth and a newborn infant instead of going off the grid for a bit (remember, this was back when you could just disappear by going a town over)?
@extemporaneous454523 күн бұрын
And Jesus couldn't be said to be descended from King David's line because Jews, then and today, claim descent only through the male line. It was only sometime in the Jewish diaspora in Europe that the injunction that one could only be a Jew if one's mother was a Jew was inserted. This was to prevent the men from marrying shikshas, because the women could be strictly controlled and be given in marriage only to Jewish men. So the Jew claims his identity from the man his mother has relations with to conceive him. It is still a line of male descent. So whether in the first century or now, Jesus doesn't fulfill this most important requirement to be the "Messiah".

It is undeniably clear that it's easy to "fulfill" a prophecy intentionally... as some NT passages even state there are things Jesus did, "... in order that the prophesies might be fulfilled!" And there are numerous examples of ham-handed attempts by the NT authors to fabricate events, times and places, in order to conform to OT passages they deemed prophetic. In addition, many of the OT passages alleged to be prophesies were NOT in any way shape or form ever MEANT to be prophesies! Many of them are specific to events and people CONTEMPORARY to the time period in which they were written!
@CEPrepper23 күн бұрын
He didn’t do them to fulfill prophesy the way you say. He is God. He fulfilled them to fulfill them, not to make people believe but to 1 keep His word that it would happen as He said it would and 2 that once it happened as done and people discovered that it was fulfillment they would believe he was the messiah (Jews). He only cared about prophecy to the Jews - no one else on earth would have known riding a Donkey into the city meant anything.

@@CEPrepper Your logic is comically childish. No one "discovered" that he fulfilled any prophesies until 40, 50, 70, years AFTER his death, when they Were TOLD he fulfilled them by the Evangelists. Also funny, in Mark 10:18 Jesus separates himself from being god pretty explicitly. He says, "Why callest thou me good? There is only one who is good; that is god." When the authors of the gospels say he did these things, "... in order that the prophesies be fulfilled," I'll take them at their word.

56:22 - Your wrong when you say they have no explanation. A quick google search would show that of Daniel 9, the prophecy is believed to be linked to that of the Son of Lawlessness. The prince is the antichrist. The end to offering is shown in the new testament when the third temple will be built in Israel.
@hannahhodgins951614 күн бұрын
That already happened. The end times already happened. The third temple was never built Because religion is false
1) The lists do not contradict each other. They show two different lines. Matthew's list exists solely to show that Jesus is not a biological son of Joseph. Jeconiah was cursed to never have a descendant sitting on the throne (Jeremiah 22:28-30). As for the time issue, we clearly see that there are skips in the list of names. As one example, Matthews list jumps from Josiah to Jeconiah even though Jehoiakim most definitely comes between the two. Is this some sort of error? No. Why did Matthew leave Jehoiakim out? I don't know. This also solves the problem of the offspring of Zerubbabel. There could be a rather large skip between Zerubbabel and Abiud and Rhesa. I don't know why we need to _assume_ that a genealogy was kept. Genealogy was hugely important for the Jews, both for tracking the coming Messiah and also for the priests. 2) You're contradicting your own sources. You say almah doesn't mean virgin. Your sources say it doesn't _necessarily_ mean virgin, but it could. So then what about Luke 1:34 in which Mary asks the angel, "'How will this be since I do not know a man?'" (in the Greek), "knowing" being a very common euphemism for sex throughout the Bible. That sounds like a virgin. Same thing in Matthew 24-25, which says that Joseph took Mary as a wife, "but knew her not until she had given birth to a son." Also, the importance of the name Immanuel is not the name itself, but what it means: "God with us," which is what Jesus's physical incarnation was. Another common thread throughout the BIble is things having multiple fulfillments. Isaiah probably did have a literal son named Immanuel, and if some random scholar today were to point to this verse as a prophecy of Christ, then yeah, it would count as out of context. Except it wasn't just some random scholar today, it was Matthew, divinely inspired to pick that verse and tell us plainly that that was prophetic. 3) I don't see where this contradiction between Matthew and Luke supposedly is. Both clearly say He was born in Bethlehem (Matt 2:1 and Luke 2:11), and later returned to Nazareth (Matt 2:19 and Luke 2:39). Why does Luke leave out the flight to Egypt? I don't know, but that doesn't make it a contradiction. Why doesn't Matthew mention Jesus's family being from Nazareth originally? I don't know, but again, it doesn't make it a contradiction. As for this E.P. Sanders, just the first line of his Wikipedia page says all I need to know about him: "Ed Parish Sanders FBA (April 18, 1937 - November 21, 2022) was a *liberal and secularized* New Testament scholar" (emphasis added), and Bart Ehrman's whole thing is being a skeptic.

WHO'S THE SINNER? I'm just saying, If Yahushua offered himself up for a Human sacrifice, a sin offering for all, then Yahushua was a sinner. Why? To break YHWH's Torah is Sin. YHWH PROHIBITS human sacrifices. Lev 18:21, 24-25; Deut 18:10; Jer 7:31, 19:5; Ezek 23:37,39. YHWH makes it perfectly clear that no one can die for anyone else's sins. Exod 32:31-33; Num 35:33; Deut 24:16; II Kgs 14:6; Jer 31:30; Ezek 18:4,20; Ps 49:7. So did Yahushua stick his tongue out at YHWH and actually go against YHWH and commit a sin and die for nothing? YHWH forgave sin many many many times in the Tanakh. I.E. only 3, Kings Manasseh and David, and the city of Ninavah. No human blood, no animal blood,,, JUST GRACE AND LOVE. So YHWH was RIGHT for the first 4,000 years, never gave up HIS power to forgive sin, and said that HE will never change HIS Torah. It's all in there, but you have to read YHWH's words and believe them. But it's not over yet. About 75-120 CE some unknown Greeks wrote their gospel with the story that, YHWH, the creator of it all, GOT IT WRONG ! ? YHWH forgave and still forgives. YHWH's my shepherd, I shall not want.

Fellas, has there ever been a single discussion of the Bible without the mention of the word "corrupted"? All due to respect, as Muslims, we find that to be so alien of a concept.

Someone really smart should compile a list of every single prophecy put upon Jesus and show via a cartoon or drawings just how many 100s of things should have or would of happened to Jesus, like being starving AND eating all the time, being on the cross for days yet only a few hours, also at different times of the day, getting attacked by animals in the garden while with a naked boy and praying etc etc… if anyone gets what I’m saying, we should get this out for someone really educated on this to try and do it.. it would be worth a million times what words can describe

@stephenford335920 күн бұрын
Immanuel, meaning “God is with us,” is no more of a ‘divine name’ than any of the other ancient Hebrew names used at the time. For instance… Abiel “God is my father” Abijah “my father is Yahweh” Eliakim “God rises” Elisha “My God is salvation” Hoshea “Salvation” Jehiel “God will live” Orel “light of God” Uzziel “my power is God”

@@wickhunter7733No, no, they're correct. I'm atheist and even I know they are correct. If you bothered to actually read the messianic prophecies, like in Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and 1st and 2nd Isaiah, you'd see that everything they said is a correct representation of what the scriptures describe. Did you know that there were actually several people that Jews actually believed was the Messiah ? People like Cyrus, who rebuilt the Temple, and Simon bar Kokvah, who successfully led a revolt against Roman occupation, and even had coins made after him? Jesus did not do a single thing that the messiah was prophecied to do.

You could say that same thing about anything else in history too, I have a feeling your argument relies on special pleading. The bible is a collection of historic documents some being letters to groups. Thats how we know historical things that have been said by people in history besides Jesus it’s usually by peoples writings and letters. The bible is the best evidence Jesus is a false messiah because not only the gospels show Jesus as getting his promises and prophecies wrong but Paul and Peters letters do as well.
