I feel that Lois and Peter demonstrate two different kinds of toxic parenting. Peter is the overt kind, alcoholic, openly negligent, selfish, insulting, and even physically bullying. Lois is the subtle kind, outwardly pretending to care but never giving anything of real substance and usually, if not always, having ulterior motives and/or only being nice for appearance’s sake. Then there’s her passive aggressive and hypocritical nature.

Kind of crazy but I watched this series for awhile and never noticed that. It actually reminds me a lot of my grandparents to my dad. His dad made him bare knuckle box his friends (older) kids to toughen him up and would randomly shove him to the ground as a toddler for the same reason. Grandma claimed to be a good mother most of the time but was pretty subtly cruel to him doing things like co-signing a loan for a car and then repo-ed the car when he made a payment in the afternoon instead of the morning, had him arrested (at age 15) when he disobeyed her, and got her other kids to bully him and isolate him, treating him like the black sheep.

Lois saying that she's a "good person" sounds more ironic in the present day seasons since she's more of a narcissistic person who always sees herself as the victim by calling herself the "good person" for everything she's either done wrong or has no reason to be petty towards someone else all the time. We all wrongfully blame others for our actions sometimes, but if we play the victim and say we are good people by doing immoral and awful things all the time, we'd be like Lois Griffin, or Eric Cartman, or lord forbid, Warren the "Eagle" from Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared. Sure, in previous seasons, she has her own faults like shoplifting, spanking Stewie when he was on a "no" phase because she lost her temper, letting Bill Clinton sleep with her and remaining indifferent on the concept of gay marriage, at least she recognizes the stuff she's done were wrong.

My opinion: (I grew up in a household where spankings are punishment for being bad. I mean, since they work so well, the child should learn not to be bad right? It's not "abusive" to many parents.) I absolutely hate Peter and Lois as parents, they're overall damaging to their own kids. I'd like Seth to make an episode where the children get taken for good, even if it's not the last episode ever, it'll still make me happy to see these two physically and mentally abusive parents get their poor kids taken away.
@professorhaystacks66069 ай бұрын
In the episode my issue is she does it out of anger, not as a purely corrective action. May have done so too hard as well, but it's hard to tell. The later episode wehre they retcon Donna to be in favor of spanking is a more nuanced take. 'course there's then... everything else they've done to their kids, and to act like spanking is worse seems disingenuous to me. But that's just me. In my household growing up they stopped when the kids got old enough to understand they were being punished by other means. Makes sense to me.

For someone who works at retail and Number of jobs I've seen Approval Seekers like Lois they feel the need to be wanted and liked despite the fact it will backfire on theme also they are quick to do and says things to get people to Notice theme despite the fact the person might not want to talk to theme showing that Approval seeking is dangerous and can get you into trouble something the cable guy and DC superhero girls try to warn us about

My school had seniors assigned to freshmen to help them in their first few weeks and depending on who your senior was, anything could happen as it was an all boys highschool. If you had someone cool then they would help but most had jerks who did stuff like make the freshman their butler, had them pay for their lunch, or had them do dares that usually didn’t end well

To be honest I thought Lois was a good mother but when I see this video now I see what she did to her family and what she deserves I always feel bad for Meg the most in this family so that’s why Peter and Lois are in the toxic relationship in this family

5 of the episodes I disagree with. Plus there are worst things Lois has done that this list does not address for reasons. #1 Abusing her kids(could have done 5 part examples and leave the Meg ones separate, Drowning Stewie, gaslighting her family) #2 Cheating on Peter(8-10 times) #3 Seducing and Sleeping Around with random people like Meg's boyfriend. (Granted if there was an episode beforehand of Lois being a Mrs.Robinson level of a Milf that every man young and old wanted then we could understand her perspective better) Side note for most people Lois was a Milf to a lot of young men. Also the best recent episode of this is when Lois and Meg are competing to seduce a handyman while Peter and Chris are away and her seducing Joe. #4 Going Mental during Christmas and ruining it for everyone. #5 Her crimes and drugs. (stealing and running from the law) #6 Murdering people
@the1magageneral323 Жыл бұрын
Belittling Peter(happens way often nowadays even in some classic episodes worse than MEG) and her kids. The new Lois is an example of toxic femineity that some women don't want to address, but the complain of about men being toxic just because.

@@the1magageneral323 Technically 2 and 3 can be considered the same thing , it involves cheating. Yeah everyone in the family has become more awful in letter seasons. Toxicity can exist anywhere regardless. Usually toxic masculinity is brought up Because people often denounce it as fake or something that's untrue, most often not having a full conversation about it. It's also likely brought up because humans have historically always lived in more patriarch societies.

i feel like this is just a continuity problem I've noticed it all of Seth's animated shows even The Simpsons and Rick and Morty have as issue with this as well i believe it's just the nature of animation because the characters never age they never really grow physically or emotionally so your limited to the types of storylines you can do also there isn't a lot of cannon the jokes and episodes are one off every one is like a reset whatever happen last week didn't really happen

The only highschool tradition i remember is a portion of the graduates coming together to pull some kind of prank every year before they leave. I dont remember if there actually was a prank when i was apart of the graduating class but i remember someone throwing a sexdoll during something (i think it was the christmas show?) happening in the auditorium. I think there was something with either a specific number of goats or chickens (all numbered but they purposely skipped a number) but i cant remember if i heard that about my school from when it was brought up. I remember they did give examples of "good" pranks but i havent thought about it in so long. Aside from the sex doll one. I was there for that one but dont remember seeing the doll before the teachers gtabbed it.

40:40 Yeah in my opinion I say this was the MOST worse thing modern Lois has done! Sneaking and coming onto Meg's boyfriend Anthony! I tell ya Meg really should've slapped the hell outta her for that. However if Anthony had truly been a good boyfriend to Meg he would've pushed Lois away saying "What are you doing Mrs Griffin? I'm dating your daughter!" Still that doesn't change the fact that Lois still did the most wrong coming onto him in the first place. Also about that next one Lois had some nerve just giving up trying to cheer Meg up so fast and giving her pills like that. See the fact is I just really miss the old Lois Griffin from the first few seasons when she was a more liking and caring mother character and those damn writers really should've just kept her that way.

29:44 Ziggy was an old comic strip character created by Tom Wilson he was mainly popular in the 70s and early 80s he even had a couple of cartoons which where done by the animation legend Richard Williams who’s mainly known for the animation of films like who framed roger rabbit, the pink panther films, raggedy Ann and Andy: a musical adventure and what would’ve been his magnum opus (if it hadn’t of been for studio meddling) the thief and the cobbler
@mrcritical6751 Жыл бұрын
To be fair it was less studio meddling that ruined Thief And The Cobbler and more the fact that Williams was short sighted and a perfectionist. The guy was given every opportunity to get the movie properly financed but messed up every time. He’d miss deadlines like crazy with every single investor or company he worked under. He literally did the old “definition of insanity” proverb, he kept doing the same thing over and over again and expected a different result by thinking the studios wouldn’t care he was missing deadlines by weeks and months as long as the animation was pretty
@gojirafan0577 Жыл бұрын
@@mrcritical6751 true he wasn’t completely innocent in all of this I mean he did keep missing deadlines apparently even people like Terry Gilliam were offered to help out in the production of the film
@gojirafan0577 Жыл бұрын
But it does seem like he did have a good career as his adaptation of a Christmas carol and who framed roger rabbit won him some major awards including some Oscars not to mention his book the animators survival kit has been considered one of the most important books of animation right up there with the illusion of life by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston

Wasn't the Hypnosis to get Peter to preform Oral Sex a consensual arrangement they made together with a sexologist/sex therapist? Because Peter wanted to please Lois more but had some weird mental block that kept him from eating red carpet? I am almost positive that is how it went. Now it becomes problematic when she abuses it, but I don't think the Hypnosis was the actual bad part. At least based on my memory of the episode

In my high school, there would be a trip for a bunch of 9th graders where they just play team based games and stuff. Which seems nice, but I would argue it is the hardest year because most of your courses are mandatory and few are open compared to all of the other years. You would also have to take math and science throughout the whole year not just a semester. It switches every other day. I didn't hear any freshman bullying stories, but I recently heard that the tables switched. Now freshman are the ones bullying older students.

56:44 one of the reasons that measles is so dangerous is because the cells that the measles virus targets are the same ones responsible for maintaining immune memory from both vaccines and from having a disease and fighting it "the old fashioned way." So theoretically if you got and survived something like chickenpox or tetanus in the past and then got measles, you could be vulnerable to getting sick with chickenpox or tetanus all over again, which you may not survive the second time around. 57:37 I grew up alongside a fair number of people who were born in Mexico before the mid 90s and they were all well vaccinated including against TB
