Interesting list. They didnt miss many. They did however choose some poor songs to represent some great bands. Some i wasnt fond of either lol.
@jennifer5130 Жыл бұрын
Never heard of half of these bands, I must have selective hearing. You must checkout Billy Thorpe from his amazing version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow as good if not better than Judy's, on to his later stuff. Choirboys are good. Easybeats are great.

Ones worth a further look Are You Am I, Eskimo Joe, Choirboys, The Angels, Ted Mulry Gang, TISM, Helen Reddy John Paul Young, Baby Animals, Billy Thorpe, Russel Morris(not on there I think), Jet, Sherbet, The Seekers Air Supply, Pseudo Echo,1927, LRB of course, Aus Crawl, Noiseworks, Hunters and Collectors, Eurogliders, Hoodoo Gurus, The Cruel Sea, Guy Sebastion, Mi-Sex,The Mixtures, Normie Rowe, Ol '55, Ray Brown and the Whispers, Bobby and Laurie, John English, The Bootleg Family Band, Brian CADD, The Twilights, The Reels, Southern Sons and probably another 50 I don't remember. Barn in AU and never heard of 99 percent of these song, and glad I have not.

In my opinion the most important Aussie band was the Easybeats. They were leaders in the industry. I'm with you on the noise. How anyone listens to it is beyond me. I was surprised at how many I'd never heard of. It seems I didn't get around. Thanks Mike. Lots of fodder there for new videos. Have fun.

Hey Mike, I was born in the 1950s here in Aus, shhh don’t tell anyone 😂 and I was pulling the same faces as you, “Uh, who are they?” I was never into many of those heavy bands. Some others I hadn’t heard of and I’ve still got all of my vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs. Laughing here at us pulling the same faces lol 😂 😊
@ownyourcrazy8734Ай бұрын
I doubt I've heard of half of these artists, let alone songs.

I noticed a couple of bands that were left off this list. They could have replaced a couple of those god awful screamer bands with the like of Darryl Braithwaite solo, The Presets and 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts that has Russel Crowe as a singer and also Rogue Traders.

The metal stuff my son would appreciate. The '75 to '89 is my stuff.

I note your reaction to most post 1990’s groups was nowhere as positive as the pre-90’s. And that is no surprise, even though many of the pre-90’s weren’t showcasing their best numbers!
@goannaj3243 Жыл бұрын
They missed Bee gees and Kevin, I think you will like TISM and Boom Crash Opera, not quality maybe but fun.
@DavidPola1961 Жыл бұрын
The very first one was the Cockroaches who became non other then the WIGGLES my brother was in the same class as Anthony Field . There were many i have never heard of and many who were missing .

Good afternoon Mike, that was beautiful. Thank you so much for giving Australian musicians a go. Always appreciate your reactions .But to be honest I like the music my parents played ie Queen Dire Straits Cold Chisel Jackson Browne etc

I am heavy duty Aussie and know about 20% of these. Terrible.
@SalisburyKarateClub10 ай бұрын
A lot of those songs weren't necessarily the best songs from the various artists. Wish they didn't cut them too quick, but a plus, for the ones I didn't like it was too long

I didn't have sound on but l noticed you were boping more to the 80s stuff...

its a good compilation but it sucks that there's literally only 2 seconds of each song so you dont get to actually experience any of them

Pick 75 obscure bands, mix them with 75 popular bands, put them in some completely random order, voila - this countdown.

I doubt these were the top 150 of all time. Certainly a wide selection. Not a lot of pop music touched upon and Australia does have some of those too.

A lot of people outside of Australia are completely unfamiliar with a genre & period of time in the 70's, 80's & 90's which is "Aussie Pub Rock". Dive into that rabbit hole and see where it takes you. ;-)
@carolynh8866 Жыл бұрын
Gees Never heard of more tham half of these. Not sure how Farnsey and Jimmy were so far down the list. And interesting that 90% of the top 40 where from the 80's. We sure had the best music in the 80's. Few artists that are missing Guy Sebastian Tesky Brothers Vanessa Amorosi Bee Gee Pete Murray Tina Arena Bernard Fannin The Whitlams Hunters and Collectors Southern Sons Deisel and the Injectors

Well this video is one person's opinion, I like many others might disagree with the order or some songs chosen (but we didn't make a video ourselves). I will give credit to this video that it showed a good cross section of what music is available in Australia, and yes some won't be to your liking, that's ok, there are plenty of other bands for you to choose from, the really best bit about Australia's music scene is the variety of music to listen too, there's bound to be many you like, and indeed Mikey you did seem to enjoy more than you didn't like, no one expects you to like everything, that's why we have choice 👍

Not a huge fan of the thrash-scream stuff either. Sometimes the complete song can be better than the sample, but it's not my style in general. Two that wasn't on there that was a bit surprising were "The Beejees" and the "The Warumpi Band" (Original singers of "My Island Home).
@aussiehorndog Жыл бұрын
Thank you for appreciating our Australian musicians Mike. Unfortunately, even as an Australian follower of our local music and musicians I have not hard of 35% - 40% of these bands. Many are just noise and not musical. This list is obviously slanted to the taste of the compiler as many of these acts should be placed much higher, and others much further down the list.
@peterlinsley4287 Жыл бұрын
Just a run down one the first group, the Cockroaches, after they broke up the guitarists and piano player had a change of audience and became the biggest band in the world the Wiggles they're of course Anthony the blue wiggle and Jeff the purple wiggle the lead singer of the Cockroaches Anthony's brother was also Captain Feather Sword.
@antheabrouwer3258 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, this list is not so good. I thought there were way better songs for most groups. You had thumbs down for Riptide. This song is still played all the time when I go out and I love dancing to it. The Easybeats were iconic and very much loved. I hate all the metal stuff. Daryl Braithwaite and The Presets, Guy Sebastion to name a few huge icons in our country!!

I had no idea some of these were Aussies. Wow, we have more influence than I thought in the USA music market.

Funny thing about this video. The good songs are too short and the crap ones are too long. It could have like having teeth pulled if that trash metal had played any longer. Here is a one hit wonder song for you to listen to, by Jimmy and the boys. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqK4ZKmem9h4r7M Worth a watch big Fella keep up the good work.

The top 50 would have been a better option. There's a lot of dead wood in there.
@samoman678 ай бұрын
It would have been nicer if the songs played a little longer. I think this is a video more about what this person believes is top Aussie music and I cringed a few times if Im honest. I live in Australia and have a music channel and I haven't heard of half these bands and I don't think this really highlights the true talent in this country. There are so many top bands not listed here.
