I think if Malenia'd just jump back when she starts the waterfowl dance to give you an oppurtunity to be able to dodge then she would be perfect.

Throw freezing pot before she even started to cast that waterfowl dance the moment she was airborne. Malenia isn't really that hard for me, of course the first try I got one shotted because after the cutscene she's already in front of you no time to react.

Or maybe make tyat the waterfowl dancw starts at the end of that cool retreat she does after you attacking her for a while, making it smooth, also adding a speed boost at the start to make it even possible for her to hit u

Although due to the length of the throwing animation, as you said, you have to start throwing pretty much as she jumps up, so you still need to know its about to happen (which in that case you could just run from it like everyone says). But its definitely nice for getting a hit in directly after cancelling it, and freezes her so you do more damage for a bit. Also @JANugur I like that idea of her jumping back, or at least just telegraphing it a bit more. It would help a decent bit without changing too much

Even heavy monstrous poise breaking knock back attacks like Radhan's ash of war cant interrupt that, and u r telling me that a fucking freeze pot interrupting the attack is intended? I dont mind ppl using OP stuff as long as those r intended by the game designers to be op, but using the freeze pot is the same as glitching her out and then killing her.

I finally beat Malenia a few hours ago and it was one of the best feelings I've ever gotten from a game. I still feel like beating phase 2 was just luck.

Ironjar Aromatic can be very handy if you also stack heavy def/poise gear. Combined with a weapon that can damage her faster than she can heal, and you can make pretty short work of her. I would advise also having a weapon with bloodhound quickstep that can easily be switched to, because her opening Scarlet Aeonia in phase 2 still will hurt bad if you take a direct hit + the full DOT. Since the ironjar Aromatic makes it basically impossible to move, you'll need the Bloodhound step in order to evade this attack ( incidentally, regular quickstep & the Bloodhound version both work great for quickly moving thru lava, and also for getting thru poison fast without having to roll and get covered in it. Basically almost anything that slows your movement down can be mitigated with quickstepping

As long as you have a bit of distance when she winds up her waterfowl dance, you will be able to dodge it hitless (keep this distance by doing the hit & run strat). Tho, if she’s at point blank, you are likely to take a hit or two, but you won’t die.

Draconic Tree Sentinel is certainly annoying but he isn't mandatory. You can do Fia's questline and beat Fortissax to get into the capital that way.

Crucible Knight is one of my favourite boss fights. He’s actually pretty easy to parry. I’m a souls vet and never used parry before but he made me learn

I like to use the buckler shield on crucible knights. The buckler parry is sick. It does take time to learn. I still mess up from time to time.

Malenia wasn't a big deal when I had a blood knight build on my first playthrough (using magic, dragon communion incantations, mimic tear, and other tools that one might consider to be quite cheezy). But going back with no ash summons, no magic, pure melee fight with Malenia was the biggest challenge I have faced in gaming to date. It took me 14 hours to finally down her. I felt so good when I finally took her down that I started helping people with her in my free time, even soloing her for other people twice (perhaps I have achieved 1% of let me solo her's power), and I cannot tell you how many times we were doing perfect, and the host just dies to waterfowl dance, ending the attempt. Her insane aggression, able to cancel any move into her floating kick, her random timings with waterfowl after kicking me in phase 2 that require both perfect s and perfect dodging when up close are things I will not soon forget. The only other boss that gave me anywhere NEAR as much trouble as Malenia was Maliketh, and even then that was only 2 hours of grinding to take him out, a good 12 hours less than it took for Malenia. I am confident in my ability to perform in that fight, having read almost all of her moves and knowing when to dodge and punish (I have never used Bloodhound Step against her btw), but even with the amount of experience I have with her, I still think she is by far the hardest boss in Elden Ring.

If you're confident in your ability to dodge malenia I recommend using the Shabriri's Woe talisman when you coop. It makes enemies more aggressive towards you so malenia will target you even when you're not close it should help your host alot.

The problem with the duo’s in Elden ring is that none of them are unique bosses designed to be a duo. They’re all copied bosses with their aggression presumably tweaked. Their moves don’t compliment each other in a way that can have them be punished fairly. Some of them can be fun with a summon but they really should put more care into their future duo’s. Either design the whole fight from scratch or keep the copied bosses separate

That harkens all the way back to Bell Gargoyle. .and to be fair they usually pair you with 2 different versions of each boss with different weapons. So there *is* a rhythm and difference to their attack patterns.

I've played Dark souls 3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. Malenia is by far my hardest boss. I took me around 120 attempts to beat her. No other boss took me even 50 attempts.

For anyone struggling and looking for a really easy build, I HIGHLY recommend the Large Club. I just cleared all rememberences with it alone and it was genuinely one of the most fun runs I’ve done in a while. If you really want to turn your brain off, slap Wild Strikes on and burn the world down

I actually beat Margit on my 4th try, 1.5 hours into the game. I got some good bleeds in and one stagger. I was mainly just running in to grab my runes from my previous attempts though XD Tree Sentinel, on the other hand, took me many more tries to beat; so many, I lost count

The reason Margit ended up so low was because of how easy he becomes once you know the fight and the level you should be at when fighting him. Personally, I now struggle more with the banished knights inside stormveil than I do with Margit. The other thing with Margit being so difficult for first time players is that it trivializes godrick in comparison. From an outside perspective, it makes no sense that godrick is consistently ranked as one of the easiest bosses in the game when the bosses (looking at you grafted scion) leading up to him are so damn hard. Lore-wise though, I totally get why Margit would be stronger than the old, decrepit, insecure, and narcissistic Godrick.

In my first playthrough, I really struggled with the Fire Giant due to the camera angle. On my consecutive runs, I didn't force myself to use the lock-on when I was directly under him and that helped me a lot. Controlling the camera manually may seem difficult at first but for giant bosses it really helps to use the lock-on depending on your position. If you're under him, just don't force yourself to lock-on and that works wonders. For the second phase I used scarlet rot and even if he rolls away or doesn't expose his hands much, he's constantly losing health either way.

I found borealis infinitely harder than fortisax because of the health pool. The lichdragon didn't even bring me close to death, I guess I just had a good run.

Yeah, Borealis was way harder for me too. I managed to kill Fortissax damageless by running away and pot-shotting him with basic arrows from my basic longbow until he was dead 😂

Not to be controversial but I love the crucible knight duo, and I don’t get why people see them as unfair. It takes a bit of patience at first to figure out when you can safely attack, but once either of them gets to their second phase many of their attacks close huge amounts of distance, so the fight is pretty trivial since they basically separate themselves

@@Ab-he4vf yeah exactly. Ordovis has a specific ‘defensive stance’ he gets into when he turtles up behind his shield, whenever he’s doing that you can fight the spear knight 1v1 as long as you don’t get too close to ordovis. 2v1 just requires a different approach to 1v1, doesn’t make it worse

i never really understood why people struggle with beast clergyman so much. maybe i just got good rng but he gives me plenty of openings every time i fight him. same thing with maliketh in the second phase. not to put down anyone´s experience of course, just sharing my own. definitely one of the best bosses in the game for me. beaten only by mohg and maybe godfrey

I definitely agree with the first phase being easy, beat that part 1st try, found plenty of openings after easily dodged attacks, and barely got hit, even when I did get hit in first phase, he gave plenty of time to heal, I found the beast clergyman the easiest boss at his level in the game, but maliketh was a different story, pretty sure I died before I could even hit him on my first 5+ attempts, his openings are very rare and unclear, and he punishes every mistake heavily, his non stop aggression, and ability to jump at me from anywhere on the map made his 2nd phase incredibly hard for me, if that was the entire fight, and there was no first phase, I would have found him harder than malenia, still a 10/10 boss though, great design and extremely fun after learning his moves and openings

Funny, I loved the Margit fight and beat him on my second try first play through, then had a weaker build for my second play through and took me two attempts. I find him easy because of his hammer. He does the massive attack that is easy to dodge for an easy punish.

I honestly don't see the hate for the Full Grown Fallingstar Beast. He's one of my favorite non-major bosses, mostly because it takes all the moves from the other variants you find, and adds even more attacks. It feels like a culmination of the design. It has a nice visual variaty of close, longrange and area attacks, and the weakspot makes it more interesting. Sure the rocksling is tricky to anticipate, the AoE gravity field has to be avoided on sight, and the Gravity bolts from the ground are relentless, but it makes you use all the different defensive options you have (Blocking, Jumping, Torrent, Arena Awareness). The cherry on top is the reward. Fallingstar Beast Jaw is metal AF, and the weapon art is one of a kind.

Personally I absolutely despised him because depending on your timing if you accidentally don’t start running at an exact time some of his gravity attacks will just fuck you up. I like the normal Fallingstar Beasts but the Full-Grown is a pain in the ass cause of how tanky he is

I find that my feelings towards the boss change with the build heavily. I struggled so much with a Greatshield / 1h weapon but then was able to really blast through him during a dual wield colossal sword build. His defense can just be a pain in the ass to grind through with lower AR builds, fun fight though id say.

I will talk about some duo boss since you mention at 14:50 About Crucible duo since is the one on the screen, and I think it was one of the best duo fight in this game and my favorite Crucible fight, idk how most players are playing these fights and what determines these enemies AI, but in my case it always went this way : shield crucible advances, meanwhile spear crucible uses his spear holy attack from the distance, but still, this fight always took me very few tries so maybe I was just lucky. It happened the same against the Godskin Duo, a 1v1 against one of the godskin while the other would throw a fireball from behind, it was basically a collection of 1v1s, pretty boring fight but hey I take it. Valiant Gargoyles are some weird version of demon princes, with one attacking you and other using poison but it's a bit inconsistent so sometimes they will gank you, and those guys moveset is just too bonkers and difficult, it was my 2nd hardest boss in the game for sure. Commander Niall if you run towards him, allows you to get 2 hits off, and you can backstab one of the knights, after that, double sword knight will be a lot faster than the other two, so you can isolate him, Niall is the most passive but shield guy can get to you with some of his attacks, if your weapon can't stagger these knights, even with jump attacks, I can see how it becomes a bit of a problem, Niall solo part was actually the most difficult part for me. Crucible + Misbigotten is mostly a dps/stagger check, Misbigotten is a lot less tanky that the Crucible Triple chrystallians was a backstab fest with assassin crimson dagger, and a flail +5, it was very stupid but very fun. If it's not obvious, I am talking about the no summon experience, I think that sometimes summons can actually make duo fights harder since it becomes all more chaotic and less controlled, but this is just my impression. In this 3rd playthrough, I will try some other duo/gank fight without summons, today I did fricking Pumpkin duo, and it was pretty manageable and I always thought it was a terrible fight (still is probably), one of them is sitting at the start of the fight, so you can focus on him and with a stagger, most of the job is done. Number 0 : soldier of God rick This mad beast can one shot you no matter what level you are not only can he move a heavy sword as fast as a katana he has unbelievable defense and health being the most advanced ai of the game he can read your attacks and even parry, some say a certain useless magic gained from a god is his weakness other than that he is unbeatable

TOP 5 hardest bosses for me: 1| Malenia, Blade of Miquella 2| Mohg, Lord of Blood 3| Radagon of the Golden Order/Elden Beast 4| Maliketh, the Black Blade 5| Margit, the Fell Omen

Maliketh’s phase one isn’t too bad if you bait out the combo that gives you the biggest opening to smack him. I think the combo is a lunge with his blade, a swipe from his right, then from his left, then he gets up on his hind legs and slams straight down. He might weave in another slash from his left before this though. If you bait out the slam he doesn’t move for awhile after that so you can get some hits in. I found that the openings are only given depending on your positioning so if you’re too far from him in phase 1 you won’t get the slam you want. You gotta stay pretty close to him to bait it out. Kinda crazy how the bosses sort of reward you for not running away sometimes.

Maliketh's entire first phase can be turned into a beating to a pulp with positioning. Some rock barrages are nullified by staying in his face, some by staying on his side, a lot of his swipes can become jumping heavy openings if you play them right, same goes for the circular shockwave. He was actually one of three bosses in the game where I'd sometimes run out of stamina since I was dancing with him so much (the other two are Radagon and Malenia)

Margit is harder than Morgott, simply because Morgott's first phase can be made into a joke by staying at a distance until he uses his throwing spear to jump attack, whereas Margit will stand around and wait for you to approach most of the time.

Yeah, I agree. it's not even close imo, Morgot is very intuitive, at least to me, I first tried on my last two playthroughs. Margit STILL kicks my ass, I'd even say he is as hard Maliketh (Who I find to be a fair challenge) if it wasn't for the ''run away and do it later'' strat

Morgot himself is a more difficult boss he feels easier because by the time we get to morgot, we have pretty strong gear. as compared to Margit where most people are underleveled. If it was morgotts moveset in the beginning instead of margit. People would have even more trouble.

It´s nice to see that everyone has their own struggles. I would personally put "fire giant" on #2 right after Malenia. Nor sure why, but I had so much difficulties with that guy. And "godskion duo" and "godfrey" were quite easy. I guess it depends on the buiild and the level so much.

Crucible knights are hard as hell until you get REALLY good at parry. Then much easier. I like the fact that you put in the point of where in the game you meet these bosses. That makes them much more of an issue.

For Elemer he is easy to parry once you learn him. Or you can use a great shield like the fingerprint one and it will block most of his hits. Except for the grab it doesn’t block that.

I’ve beat melania on all three of my play throughs. The second time was the hardest in my opinion because of how lucky I got on my first time with her. But it really made me learn her move set and how to dodge some of her ridiculous attacks

Elemer also hates Lightning/Piercing. I found out when I used Bolt of Gransax against him, and I brutalized him. Crucible Knight is fun for me: I figured out his parry timing!

I know I'm late and idk if someone said this already but here is a tip for Godskin duo. If you are using fast or medium speed weapons you can keep racking up damage as they die because I guess their hit box is still there. Hopefully this helps someone not lose to them when they are 1hp.

Fighting Radahn pre-nerf was high key batshit insane. Fought him sometime within the first week of release, and that dude was so mobile and dealt so much damage that I was shook to shit. I couldn’t even comprehend it at first. Not even Friede matched it’s insanity for me. Still, after like 12 tries he fell. Very happy to have fought him Pre-nerf

When I fought Melania with mimic tear and an op bleed build it was easy. When I fought her on my solo Nagakiba samurai character it took me 9 days of straight fighting. Every evening after work it was a dance with Malenia. She’s definitely deserving of the hardest boss ever made title

So I am doing a second play through currently on an all Strength/Faith character after I 100% with an Astrologer. When I fought Malenia the first time, I julled her my 4th try. Used Ancient Death Rancor on her all of phase 1. This constantly would knock her down and I would get a bunch of gree damage. The only time I made it to phase 2, I killed her with Comet Azur. No summons though. However, I am going to see how much harder she is with my heavy boi while I use a greatshield as well. Probably gonna be harder but Imma get her down. I honestly felt that Elden Beast was the hardest for me in the whole game. Took me hours to kill him!

The problem is just that the video will be 40+ minutes and take a super long time to make. Sometimes people don't stick around for videos that long and it'll be a long time before it's out. I'll think about it. Maybe I'll skip through some of the less important bosses if I do that and not really commentate on them.

Morgott will always be the trickiest for me. I don't even die to him much, in fact my first character I got him second attempt, but it's just that I will never learn how to respond to his combos to find an opening, partially due to undodgeable attacks, but also because of just how aggressive he is leading me to trade damage on many instances. Maliketh is similar, except the reason I'll never be able to master him is because he has too little health and most of the fight is just him distancing himself.

Crucible knights (sword+shield) are the enemies I hate fighting the most. They’re so tanky, they hit hard no matter when you come across them, and their range is so freaking long. They aren’t mechanically difficult to overcome, but they’re just so annoying to fight

Waterfowl Dance ain't bad once you figure it out, least so long as you aren't close to her. The moment she jumps into the air, just run away and you'll avoid her first attack, you'll have to dodge if close which is tough. Then the second attack is just timing, with the third being rolling towards her. If done properly the forth will miss. Takes some getting used to but actually isn't to difficult to figure out

Some of the boss you talked about are very easy like the draconic tree sentinel or even the fire giant i got them on my first try but for placidussax i almost died but still got him first try the only boss that give me trouble is the death rite bird

I had seen both versions of the Godskin twins, so often alone, and together (Seethwater Cave), that when I met them for the final time in Crumbling Farum Azula, I defeated them the second try. I almost defeated them the first time. I'm currently bashing my head against the wall, named Milenia. Yay.

I love how everyones experience varies :D I for one did almost all lategame bosses on first three tries... draconic tree sentinel, fire giant, morgott etc...I even managed to do godskin duo on first attempt. Only malenia, hoarah loux and radagon/elden beast gave me some trouble. BUT I died about 60 times on fucking first crucible knight. I died for 3 hours straight on fucking Margitt. And dont even get me started on those goddamned bell hunters who spawn in shacks at night. I guess it all comes from chosen build. I ran heavy armor, 60 vigor str. build with dual halberds or dual spears, so I had brutal alpha strike damage on jump attacks and great stagger, so even Malenia wasnt THAT hard (minus oneshots), because I could always do hit and run tactics. So naturally these knights and margitt and such with coded healpunishes gave me the worst time, because hit and run just doesnt work too well on them, they just go after you and smack you for that :D

I'm kind of surprised people had difficulty with Margit due to the fact I beat Margit on my 2nd try without shakle and without the summon in front of the door. Good to know now why people had difficulty with him.

Irrelevant to the topic but draconic tree sentinel is not mandatory. You can teleport into Leyndell via a transporter next to Fia after you defeat her champions. Did this in NG+ and completely skipped DTS.

I'm not sure why people complain about waterfowl so much when the rot clone move has real problems - namely in melee range. You can get super unlucky and get one-shot by her deciding to just start doing that move in your face as you're punishing a whiff she's done. That area underneath her while she's in the air does an obscene amount of damage, has huge range, and its actual hurtbox exists the moment she goes into the air and staggers you if you're in it. The clones themselves? Couldn't care less. Waterfowl is also easy enough to dodge with enough practice and dedication, but dealing with Malenia's rot clone attack if she decides to do it in your face has to be the most rage-inducing experience in Elden Ring imho, and I say this as someone who no-hits her all the time. You shouldn't be able to get punished to the point of a phase 2 guaranteed death just because you punished a whiff. That, imo, is where I draw my line with the fight.

I found apostle way harder than noble for some reason. I beat noble my first try without summons when I found him, but when I found apostle the first time (in dragonborrow so the room was small), I had to use summons and even then it took me a while, even though I was a higher level.

Probably just me I fought most of these and I didn’t have that much trouble for some of em but I struggled with a fight with a finger that spawns in at the round table. It’s probably because I was fairly new to the game and didn’t understand his patters but he gave me the most trouble because I’d get most of his attacks down until he started switching his way of fighting some fights he’d shoot 4-5 ice balls at me and I’d dodge 3 of them and roll at him to land atleast a hit but there would be random times where he even went as far as to shoot 12 consecutive shots and it would cause my death multiple times. Finally the fact he would roll away from me before I even landed a hit made it even worst he would be close to finishing an attack and I was going to hit him before he did but he would instantly back away

Fire giant screws you up if your doing it with a friend as you dont have a horse so you have to run all over the arena to get to him and that gives him good opportunity to smack you and punish you if you dont know how to dodge. Me and my friend grew to hate this guy after many deaths.

Hardly met any challenge in the game on my first run cause i abused mimic tear in every fight and jumping bleed attacks with occult scavenger curved swords and seppuku(a friend dropped me the second)!Before that had a +10 Eleonora's poleblade which slayed Radahn before getting in his second phase.Early game i abused double uchi's with blood slash.On NG+ i will try to solo fight most remembrances and have a more challenging run non bleed dependent.Most challenging fight for me was of course Malenia which took me roughly 15 minutes to beat once i figured out the damage window after she blooms on the second phase and the Death rite birds.Mohg,Maliketh were too busy dealing with my mimic for me to land 3-4 jumping attacks and completely melt them

I feel like Radahn's nerf was unjust; the game was still new and players were still in the settling period of adjusting to the fine intricacies of the mechanics. Pre-nerf, I *just* managed to beat him utilizing the summons as much as I could, but after the nerf I learned his moves, the openings, what comes next yadah yadah yadah. Now that Ive fully grasped how the game is played, I would *love* to go back to pre-nerf Radahn

I actually died to fire giant about 10 times but I beat melania on my 2nd. Just shows how some bosses are harder for some and vice versa for others. I couldn't see the fire spells and they would one shot me everytime and his health pool was massive so when you have to dodge every fireball perfectly in a 5 minute fight was hard for me. Maybe I was underleveled.

Mohg is freaking brutal for me because the delayed attacks particularly his slam attack. I ALWAYS dodge to early and get punished badly. His thrust attacks are brutal and while the blood spread is easy to dodge the lingering effect can screw you if you panick role into it and you take massive overtime damage. The phase shfit can be absolutely brutal if you can't tank through it or you don't get the item to reduce the damage. He has alot of delayed attacks that can make the fight super hard. Finally I feel like people overlook his spear slam attack you get hit by that its over. The punishment is real because your always going to get staggered by that attack and 9/10 times the follow up is a fire blood breath attack. I think moag should be ranked 3 then malketh then malinia. People sleep on maog. But thats just my opinion.

There is no universe where Radabeast should be above Maliketh, Godfrey, or Godskin Duo imo, it's a very long fight but also one of the most intuitive out of the main bosses in the game and you get plenty of openings to punish, my theory as to why they're so high is because anyone who was reliant of status effects is gonna take about 12 years to deal enough damage to Elden beast because of the insane status and elemental resistances it has

Margit wasnt hard for me because my first run was unga bunga wretched and I forced myself to kill tree sentinel before continuing, then I leveled to use the golden halberd which just made the first like 40% of the game easy. However when I got to Radahn (pre-nerf), I was underleveled as all hell and was getting 1 shot by the arrows at the start so he was probably top 3 for me first run. and screw godskin duo. Even though Radagon was pretty intuitive, I still monke brained enough that he was kinda hard for me so I can see him being where he is. also Rot Mommy

Malenia is not hard because of Waterfowl she is hard because she gets unstaggered randomly and in the second face she unstaggers AND punish you with her own I-frames. This is a move that punishes you because you punished an opening and that is the thing i hate about this boss.
