To be fair, if Dragon Ball Evolution wasn't made, Toriyama wouldn't have gotten out of retirement and made Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, Dragon Ball Super, DBS Broly and Super Hero.

What’s hilarious is that the live action Dragon Ball movie was originally set to be the first of a series of live-action films, with the sequel adapting the Dragon Ball Z anime. Thankfully the sequels were cancelled due to the box office disaster. Akira Toriyama wouldn’t want his legacy to be butchered by Hollywood.

Bio booster armor Guyver is one of my favorite anime from the 80s. It’s a shame that it’s been forgotten. Out of control was never even released on DVD.

While the first American live-action adaption of Bio-Booster Armor Guyver did suck, it's sequel Guyver 2: Dark Hero which had actor/martial artist/stuntman David Hayter who later been known as the long-running VA of Solid Snake in MGS1, 2, 4, and Big Boss/Naked Snake in MGS 3 and a writer for some of the best Sci-Fi/Action films as the lead role of Sean Boswell/Guyver Unit-01 was actually good yes the sequel actually felt like what a properly made American live-action adaption of Bio-Booster Armor Guyver should be, and it did so well that as David revealed in a interview that New Line Cinema actually came to him and offered him the chance to reprise the role of Sean/Guyver Unit-01 for a third film and he accepted however Guyver 3 was hit with so many problems during pre-production that by the time the film was ready to begin with production New Line Cinema's time with the rights with sci-fi/horror/action Manga/Anime ran out.

The only thing about Death Note (2017) that was remotely good about it, was Willem Dafoe as Ryuk. That was an exelent casting choice. I grew up watching the Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy, and I've never forgotten how freaky he was as the Green Goblin.

I'm surprised Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't on the list. Or rather, did anyone actually want a Fullmetal Alchemist movie? I saw some of Cowboy Bebop but i couldn't continue after the second episode. As for Dragonball Evolution, I saw the movie on HBO. That movie was an insult to Dragon Ball. Fun fact: Justin Chatwin and Emmy Rossum who starred in that movie are also on the series Shameless.

Dragonball Evolution failed because Stephen Chow(Kung Fu Hustle, great film see it) didn't direct and was not allowed to submit any ideas. Instead we got the guy that directed two Final Destination films and Jet Li's The One to call action and some guy named Ben Ramsey(who had never written anything before) to pen the script.

I love Bleach so much so that I have a combination of Ichigo's hollow mask and combat pass tattooed on my leg. When I saw the live action adaptation of Bleach on Netflix I tried to watch it, but I only got about 5 minutes in before I had to turn it off cuz I didn't like it. Then they ended up trying to dub it later and it still didn't work. I'll just stick with the anime version.

There were no race problems in Ghost in the Shell. Scarlett Johansen was a great pick, and the only people who had a problem with it were activists, not fans. She's a machine and being hidden from her past--obviously there's no reason for her race as a flesh human and as a machine should match.

I don't think anyone has said it, but One Piece. No one wanted it, no one asked for it, and now we cannot wait for season 2 as the creators did everything to make it work. Granted there are parts in which people dislike or don't work well, but it was still a fantastic time. Looking forward to season 2.

It feels contradictory having Death Note that high up. I think plenty of people asked for a Death Note adaptation. It wasn't a terrible idea considering that it focuses on psychological drama rather than action, so as a concept it's not doomed to failed. Having it above something as ridiculous as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure makes this list just weird.

I would've liked a proper adaptation of Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball. It's a shame the one's we got were just plain awful. Ghost in the Shell i watched and didn't hate it. Wasn't anything special. Scarlett Johansson i thought was fine. Alita i hadn't even heard of. Read some reviews and saw the trailer and thought i'd give it a watch. Really enjoyed it. Irony there that number 1 was the best film out of all of them and it really was the one i wanted the least.

The worst live action adaptation definitely was Dragon Ball Evolution. I saw a little bit of it on TV once and I just turned it off because it was abysmal. Though funny thing is...a former friend of mine actually kinda liked it for some reason. The best live action adaptation for me? Yeah I'm gonna be biased and say it was Bungo Stray Dogs: Beast. The graphics may have been cheesy but the fact that the script was co-written by Asagiri himself and the cast was done by the stage actors, it more than made up for it. Though it didn't follow the novel exactly, I still loved the new direction that it took especially when it put more focus on Oda and gave us some insight of how Chuuya handled...what happened at the end. Even an inclusion of a certain anemic rat villain was really awesome too. It wasn't perfect by any means but it was still a movie that I waited months for.

Alita Battle-Angel is the best by far. It's not great or anything, but it is enjoyable if you like CGI fight scenes. and I'm guessing, KZbin won't allow you all to show footage of Bleach, One piece, Pokémon, and my personal favorite Samurai X. Even with its controversies and inconsistencies, it's still the best one of all the anime movie adaptations shown here.

In fact he said was perfect in the role because Major ISN'T Japanese. Major isn't even her real name. Major has no race because she isn't human. Netflix's Cowboy Bebop was a huge disappointment. John Cho and Mustafa Shakir were amazing as Spike and Jet, and they kept Yoko Kanno as a composer, but that was it. They did an amazing job with One Piece though.

I have seen a trailer for "Speed Racer" when I was little, but didn't know the name of the movie. I have also seen a trailer for "Alita: Battlr Angel". had no idea the other movies on this list came out. They all seem great. Also, I thought the live action One Piece would be one of them. The guy's hairdo in the live action Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a different hair color compared to the anime.

I remember watching the live action version of The Guyver and being appalled at the cluster fuck they had created. They shifted the story to America, made Sho Fukamachi American and basically nothing like the original protagonist, and the effects were bad enough that it made the Power Rangers look like Star Wars. You know it is a total failure when the movie's highlights are J.J. Walker turning into a Zoanoid and Mark Hamill's CIA agent turned into what appeared to be a giant cockroach.

Knights of the Zodiac probably went bad only cause of like The Last Airbender (film to Avatar). Trying to squish a whole season into a single movie is a bad idea. Turning a movie into a series instead is sometimes ok, as it allow to expand to the story, so long it doesn't get off track or drags out. So that's why for KotZ. I'm not saying it's the worst, I'm saying on why its listed here.

That movie got bad because of the poor direction (Masami Kurumada choose a director who didn't even allowed Mackenyu to study the role of Seiya and wanted to make another story which ended up worst than the CGI reboot) and writing, the cast was fine and the CGI wasn't bad. The guy who directed clash of the titans (Louis Letterier) is a huge fan of saint seiya and he inspired in it to create the armor for the movie, he should've been the one directing it

DB Evolution should've been 1. 2 would be on Cowboy Bebop with how bad it was. Alita: Battle Angel was fun to watch even without knowing anything about it's origins. Hoped for a sequel after it's ending. Speed Racer was fine for me

We already have one for Gantz; it was done by Japan as 2 films and a CGI film and written by the author of the series. Highly recommend you check them out. As far as Claymore, we need a better/complete adaptation as anime first. Guyver on the other hand is a guilty pleasure for me, especially the sequel Dark Hero with David Hayter (Solid Snake of Metal Gear).
