@@adamgreenhill110 yeah I love fireball too, drinking it right now. If I were to try and find the actual reason, I'd say it's probably called a whisky because it contains whisky and it's easier to market it if they call it a whisky rather than a "flavored whisky mix" If you're buying cheese and you see "cheese" and "cheese flavored product", you're probably going to buy the "cheese". That being said, hoensly, who cares. As long as you know what you're actually getting, it's easier to just call it cinnamon whiskey. Everyone knows what you're actually talking about, and that's the point of language anyways.

When I wasn't a huge whiskey fan, I had always turned my nose up at fireball because of its association with "drink to get drunk, frat and sorority whiskey." Then I tried some for the first time, and, as a huge fan of fireballs as a child, I have to say, I enjoyed it. It definitely tastes exactly like a fireball. Liquid candy. So I have to give it to fireball - I consider it more liquid candy than I do whiskey, because the point of it, it seems, is expressly to *not* taste like whiskey, but while I haven't really had it since, I can say that I could enjoy fireball whisky the same way a person could enjoy a "coffee frappuccino" from starbucks instead of a nice pour over or some other intentional brew of coffee. I'm still a whiskey noob, and while I wouldn't drink fireball for whiskey substance, I would maybe drink it if I can't find fireballs and decide I want one, but also want something alcoholic at the same time.

I've gotta say this as someone who's lived in Kentucky and been into bourbon for over 12 years. I'm actually really impressed with Jack Daniels positioning in the whiskey market. Most whiskey that relies on a name or marketing jacks up the price artificially, looking at you Buffalo Trace. Jack Daniels has the recognition and more than enough of respect to keep prices high. And when I first got into whiskey 12 years ago, I felt they were a bit overpriced for what you get. But over the years, they've kept the price consistent even right now as American whiskey is gaining world enthusiasm.

It's most likely #1 because of how well it mixes with coke, making it a very popular choice in bars for people who don't like whiskey straight. And since it's in literally every bar in the US (and every countrry ive ever been to for that matter), those people always have that "go to" drink for easy decisions.

HAH, I am here just to comment that Kesslers made #18 in all of the USA just from the amounts consumed in Wisconsin. I'd never heard of it before, but as a mixer whiskey it punches above it's cost.

Man, living in Wisconsin, there is Kessler literally everywhere. Anywhere liquor is sold, you'll find 1.75 for like 15 bucks. Any like family gathering or social event, it's for sure going to be there as well. Mainly ends up being a mixer for "WI old fashioneds" or just whiskey and sweet/sour/coke. I drank way too much of this one night with some cheap energy drink (when I was like a teenager) and I've never been able to smell it the same again without imagining that night and wanting to just throw up on the spot.
@socoblue19885 жыл бұрын
Fellow Wisconsinite here. Can confirm that I see it everywhere. I don't really have much experience with it, but I've always looked at it as a "well whiskey" or just something to mix with and nothing more (which is what most whiskey bought is used for anyways).

Annnnd I'm back again!....one of my most favourite moments was sitting on the edge of Loch Lomond in Scotland with a couple whom we had rented a B&B from and asked them what the 'locals' drank..and they pulled out a bottle of Famous Grouse...was very nice indeed, certainly a daily drinker for sure.....then later that night I reached Nirvana. My wife had a special gift for me (it was a wedding anniversary after all!)....I sat there overlooking the Loch with a couple of nice Dun hill Mild gold corona cigars and a several (a lot) of drams from a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet 1, 18yr old that she had bought for me!!...now THAT is a memory I shall have forever...it was sublime....

Hey y’all, new subscriber here and new member of the whiskey tribe. I’m SUPER new to the whiskey world and because of your vids (love them btw) I have decided to start my journey. Stopped at the store today and wanted to try a sweet scotch to begin. I asked the girl working for a cheap option in the 20 to 30 dollar range and she helped me ultimately choose Speyburn single malt scotch - Braden Orach. She said it was a 10 yr., come to find out the Braden Orach is actually a no age disclaimer (although they do have another type that is a 10 yr., maybe she was mixing them up). I will be sipping tonight (both without and with a dash of water) but hope I didn’t make a terrible choice for my first scotch. Hope for some replies from anyone on other options for the future, feedback, etc. Glad to be a member of the tribe 😊

the problem with being a Canadian hobo is it gets to -40c before wind chill and -70 with wind chill also trains just stop at places on the great plains and the driver gets on a different train leaving you 80 miles from any inhabited place or water for 7 weeks

I remember this police search video on KZbin, in which someone who was towing a boat into Canada had several dozen bottles of Bourbon discovered hidden on the boat during a search. Ultimately, a $500.00 fine was levied on the driver for bringing American liquor into Canada, and he was allowed to continue his journey and keep the Bourbon, but only after paying the fine. Well, if it means not having to drink Canadian whiskey, I say it was well worth it! - j q t -

I put it in the same category as Smirnoff. They're great for what they are: cheap and inoffensive. Of course they aren't going to be that interesting to drink straight, but if you have to, they're way less harsh than store-brand liquor. And in a lot of mixed drinks, most people wouldn't be able to distinguish a more expensive brand anyway.

My sometimes daily drinker is Tennessee Fire, it's Jack Daniels' version of fireball whiskey but t's a hell of a lot easier to drink, and a bit sweeter. It's just sweet with a big cinnamon taste and the perfect heat kick and goes down smooth, I love to sit back and drink some of that with ice.
@fredmidtgaard54873 жыл бұрын
The thing is that taste to a relatively large extend depends on surrounding smells, subtle or not. In Europe, I would not drink Jack Daniels, but in Tanzania where I live much of the year: Yes, for sure! It fits the hot, dusty environment perfectly!

I tasted it all - American, Japanese, Scotch, Irish, Swedish, Canadian, and every other country that produced an export/import whiskey for consumption. My favorites still are bourbon - Wild Turkey and Makers Mark, and Laphroaig 12. And I have tasted most of the stupid expensive and hyped whiskeys of the world like Old Van Winkle and so on... didn't make me change my favorites.
