There's also the Patriot who wrestled his last WWF match on Superstars/Shotgun Saturday Night /show on tv on November 1, 1997 but taped a week or two earlier/ against Jim Neidhart which he lost by DQ. During the match, he suffered a tricep injury which originally put him out of action for 4 to 6 months. When the timespan of being on the shelf was extended by 5 to 6 months, the WWF released the Patriot which annoyed me as I liked him.

it's recently been leaked in an interview with mark stanton, the man who helped secure owens harness, that owen hart is the one that initiated the release trigger mechanism causing him to plunge to his death. owen waited until the moment he was to descend, to allow himself to be fully suspended. once all his weight was in the harness, it began to crush his testicles. as soon as he began descent, he began screaming, and at that point, the operator of the drop line didn't realize he was experiencing problems and just continued his descent, and was not commanded to bring him back up for readjustment of the harness quckly enough. procedure calls for the participant to be fully suspended before descent in order to ensure participants comfort. apparently owen was hostile about the whole procedure and refused the testing process citing that he just wanted to get it over with and he'd be fine.... they were still given the 'go ahead' and sure enough, owen panicked from the pain of his testicles being crushed in the harness, and instead of sticking through the pain until he could be fully lowered, he released himself...
