China has over 1 billion I don’t think they had a choice either way plus most of the people are all cramped near two rivers and the East due to a huge desert that takes up most of China

Never understood why Arab countries have so many skyscrapers; you have so much land to expand outwards, why go up? Would have been cool to see all that money spent on cool Islamic architecture than gaudy glass towers.

I completely agree, I love Islamic architecture as well! Although, they probably don’t have that much space to expand into to be honest, it’s mostly just desert. To be fair, the urban areas used to also be desert, so they do have quite limited urban space.
