The goth bands/ songs listed are Souxie and the Banshees (24) The Cure (21) Sisters of Mercy (18)(14) Joy Division (13)(6)Bauhaus(2) The Birthday Party (4) is punk technically. But it is closer than Evanescence. This person who made this list knows nothing about goth music. The majority of the songs on this list are Metal bands. Less than a 3rd of the list are goth. If I didn't list the band it is because it's not goth. You're welcome.

That's the most american definition of 'Gothic Songs' i've ever seen. To be fair, 'Gothic' is not really a music or sound genre, and the different sub genres (in style and taste) have very different music accompaniments. And i kind of DO understand why there is so much Symphonic Metal in here, as back in the day it was more commonly known as 'Gothic Metal' (actually in Germany, Symphonic was one of those musical genres that united all kinds of goths, metalheads, medieval and viking reenactors and larpers), especially thanks to Nightwish and Tristania. What i don't get: Of all the bands and songs, it's EVANSCENCE? Seriously? And let's not even talk about how and why Rammsteind did end up there.

Some of these picks are just so arbitrary it seems. I’m surprised “cuts you up” by Peter Murphy isn’t here. And I think Clan of Xymox “Louise” or “A Day” would be a good fit somewhere. Why so much Nightblade or whatever? Never heard of them. From Joy Division I would’ve picked “New Dawn Fades” or “Decades”. Could’ve used more Cure like “Charlotte Sometimes” which is like the quintessential goth song. Also “Fire of the Mind” by Coil… “This is the House” by Depeche Mode, a lot by Dead Can Dance, and… you know what it’s your opinion :P good job.

2 Evanescence songs in 25 and My Immortal in number one is just ridiculous. Gosh some of the artist in the list are way more iconic: Sioux&theBanshees with Spellbound or Cities in Dust, SoM with Lucretia or Black Planet, Depeche Mode with Enjoy the SIlence or even Joy DIvision's LOVE WILL freakin TEAR US APART or the goddamn CURE. Not even to mention Echo, Xmal, Selofan, Pink turn Blue, Xymox, Diaframma, Mephisto Walz, This Mortal Coil, Twin Tribes, She past away, Horror Vacui, Lebanon, CCCP, Molchat, 45 grave, strawberry switchblade, Cocteau Twins or New Order! I hope it's just a prank, because seems pretty weird to me and now im sad >:(

hmmm im not sure about this sisters of mercy,bauhaus and souixsie are the most gothic but old school. Rammstein is industrial so it can count i guess besides I love them haha. Evanescence being number 1 im not sure should be there I like them too and their kind of gothic but in a hard rock poppy way the cure is the same kind of gothic but more new wavey pop. I dont know why nightwish and the like are on here,that is symphonic metal like theatre of tragedy is actually kind of gothic but not nightwish dont get me wrong I love the song :her ghost in the fog, but its a metal song

The Cure has it’s goth side and it’s pop side. Albums like Faith and Pornography aren’t poppy at all. They’re pretty challenging listens. Disintegration is a nice little melding of the two styles. But I respect your opinion and I may be wrong. I usually am 😸.

I’d have some sort of respect if maybe joy division was number one, not a pop song. The eternal or decades would fit number one easily though joy division were post punk, his life his music(Ian) was truly gothic to me. Type o is not goth and most of the songs on this list don’t fit

what a complete and total load of shite this list is, Nightwish, O Type Negative, Rammstein, Cradle of Filth, Evanescence are rock not Goth, Siouxsie and the Banshees are Punk Bout the only ones you got right were Sisters of Mercy, who have better tracks like Alice, Marianne, No Time To Cry, Walk Away, First and Last and Always to name just a few, Bauhaus and possibly the Cure I don't class them as Goth. What about the Mission, Fields of Nephilim Balaam and the Angel, the Rose of Avalanche, the Skeletal Family all had some great track...... I' guessing this was complied by a Nightwish fan.....

Well a lot of people consider Evanescence goth in the way that people consider Marilyn Manson goth. Goths tend to enjoy industrial music as well so I can sort of understand why Rammstein is here. It’s just a label and the person just wanted to make a list, I don’t think there’s any reason to flip out over it. This is just a random person, it’s not Spin magazine.
