I really appreciate you and Dr. Baker, so much wisdom and common sense. I was interviewed by Dr. Baker in June of 2022, 69 at the time and now coming up on 71 in April. Carnivore has changed my physical life for only the better, from a near invalid to being able to go up the stairs again and going outside for walks. So thankful to have discovered (from my daughter) carnivore!

I like to think Mark Twain would be carnivore if alive today. Great conversation. My wife is shifting from keto to carnivore after seeing the beneficial effect on me, and my daughter and son-in-law have gone full keto and and are now considering carnivore. I live in rural Western Australia and buy lamb and beef direct from local farmers, and my food bill has gone down while my health goes up. I like supporting farmers direct rather than our big grocers, so I have a lighter conscience also. 🙃

I'm someone who can only do 3/4lb in a sitting so I don't restrict how often I eat. I appreciated the OMAD video, I think it was spot on as to why you shouldn't. And to hear Shawn say he eats 2 meals makes it even more justifiable IMO. I started following him last year and couldn't figure out how often/much he ate so I'm glad that was cleared up here.

"ate 8 pounds in one sitting." I read an account by an explorer in South Africa / Namibia in the 1700's - the natives eating after a big kill - he wrote that most people ate about 9 pounds of meat, and spent the rest of that day relaxing (digesting), and cutting up the remaining meat and boiling it in salt water to preserve it for a day or two.

I feel there are so many grey areas in this lifetime, nutrition included. There is no one way of doing things, no right or wrong answers and we’re all unique creatures in our own right. But after many years of living life in the fast lane, nutrition has taken a back seat. We’ve become too comfortable with so much at our fingertips. Our body depends on us to feed it nutritious foods to keep us alive and thriving. We need to get back to basics, cooking our own food and enjoying meals with our families. Not always grabbing something and running out the door or getting on the internet. Live on less and enjoy life with family more. Our time on this planet is brief. Don’t wait until it’s too late and miss out on what really matters here. ❤️

Dairy is probably inflammatory for me so I want to quit but I'm kind of out of most options, I have to eat something...😅 I still eat meats but it's not easy when I react to everything or can't get/can't afford best quality animal foods.. 🤪

Measuring Ketones and not looking at blood glucose seems odd. He stated in this video and in another recent video he eats Ribeye to get a 40 : 60 ratio of protein to fat. The arctic explorer Steffanson reported he ate a 15 : 85 ratio of protein to fat during his year at Belvue Hospital. It is probably a certain number of grams of protein per individual to trigger insulin production for health and fat gain.

@booswalia Жыл бұрын
I just can't seem to get enough meat into me. I'm only 120 pounds, 68 y/o and I'm losing weight fast. How do you get past the full feeling to get the food into you? I"ve been cheating a bit with smoothies just so I don't lose more weight. When I was a young child I had problems swallowing meat. I couldn't make the muscles in my throat make the move to swallow it and I would chew one little piece for the longest time after everyone else was finished. Eventually I grew to love meat thankfully or I'm sure I would have just disappeared into 'thin' air.

So I have iron overload can this way of eating be to much?
@NutritionwithJudy Жыл бұрын
There are a lot of reasons for iron overload, you may need to eat the less rich heme iron meats initially (e.g., eat more chicken), but these are all bandaids to figure out what is causing the excess iron levels. Paradoxically, sometimes high iron is actually a deficiency in iron, just at an earlier stage of illness.

I have been getting this too. Plus my liver enzymes have been climbing since shortly after going carnivore. I keep searching for answers to this but haven't found any yet. I have never been subject to elevated liver enzymes before, except for when I had mono decades ago in college. I'm concerned.

Always odd to wrap your mind around carnivore. One pound of 80-20 ground beef is 1150 calories. Eating three pounds a day of that would make me gain weight, not lose weight. But the doctors always say eat until you are comfortably full.

1 lb in one sitting? oh my word, I struggle with getting 1 lb in a day!
@NutritionwithJudy Жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone should eat less than one pound in a day unless they are eating chicken breast only, but even then that's only 102 grams of protein within the meat. Most of us need to eat at least 0.8 grams of protein per 1 lb of ideal body weight. if you weight 100 lbs then maybe you can have 80 grams of protein. But most people should be eating more than 1lb of meat a day on a carnivore diet.

I can easily eat one pound in one sitting. It shocked my husband when he first saw that. I think I could eat 2 lbs, but my budget prohibits that.

I have always not been able to eat breakfast so I would just start my morning with bpc for my brain because Alzheimer's runs in my family in the women and I get chronic migraines. So I usually start with lunch and I don't like fatty meat so what I buy are sirloin patties and each Patty is 28 g of protein and then I add beef Tallow to them. And I usually will eat two for lunch struggling to finish both of them and then try to eat two for dinner but I never can finish them both so I just barely get in about a 100 G of protein a day but technically each one of those patties is 1/3 a pound and I do eat three so then I guess I do eat a pound a day

With the carnivore diet experiment happening very quickly, we will see if there is an onslaught of disease related to it. The speculation is that cvd, certain cancers, liver and kidney diseases will happen in rapid succession across the population of strict adherents. Will the carnivores be in denial if and when that occurs? Will they point the finger of blame at non-carnivore causes? There's a lot of money at stake, so I think we can rest assured that will happen.
@NutritionwithJudy Жыл бұрын
hey! Thanks for stopping by :) I need a lot of research so I'm not worried with the things you bring about. I have a "why carnivore is the most anti-inflammatory diet" talk and need to record it for YT. (We know that most modern disease stems from inflammation). Hopefully you'll come back and watch that.
@veganforlife5733 Жыл бұрын
@@NutritionwithJudy Thank you for responding. Have you seen any of Dr Will Bulciewicz's commentary about the relationship between fiber intake and the gut microbiome's role in the immune system? I have seen the downplay among carnivores and ketovores about the role of dietary fiber. Certain types of diseases can take significant time to develop, and often it's too late by the time they manifest within the body. Plz find Dr Bulsiewicz on yt and have a listen.
