Coach when you mentioned barbell push press, it reminds me of dumbbell push press which is much harder. Can you explain what factors make dumbbell movements(push press, clean, front squat, deadlifts)harder to perform than traditional barbell movements at the same weight? Thanks.

Dumbbells cause instability because of their free nature so it causes the athlete to use their core to stabilize the weights adding more difficulty to the exercise.

Thank you for the info. Do you still recommend weighting shoes even for those with exceptional mobility that are comfortable in flats? I lift in notorious lift shoes because I compete in powerlifting but I do plan on competing in weightlifting. Thank you!

Does it still count as a clean and jerk if you don't do the split part but still do every other part of the movement???

do you think if someone is struggling with his split jerks should consider to change to squat jerks and vice versa? Or will be too hard to learn one technique from the beginning?
@GarageStrength
@GarageStrength 4 жыл бұрын
Every athlete is different, but we strongly recommend working the split jerk for at least a year before considering a switch. The Power Jerk is still a useful variation in training regardless 💪

it is because you probably have core issues. The back squats are a lot easier than the front squats.
