Thank you for this video! I am a 41-year-old male diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 39. I have been noticing the curve in my upper back worsening and I want to do something about it! I'm sure it doesn't help that I've been a "sloucher" my whole life. I have a foam roller at home so I'm going to at least start with the stretches that you showed. Thanks for helping me get started on the road to improvement!

This is amazing! Thank you! Especially the second exercise helped me eliminate my hump, and realign my spine! I like to do the second exercise with the black foam roll for 15 minutes. It is amazing when I look in the mirror and I do not see my hump anymore! Yes, I feel a lot of pain for a few minutes due to the fact that things are being re-aligned. I guess it is normal. I tried so many other procedures with chiropractors , PTs, and watched tons of other videos here on KZbin, a waste of time and money! These exercises worked for me immediately. God bless you, brother!

Hey thanks for the video, but I do have one question, you say kyphosis can be structural "due to the spine being shaped differently" or from bad habits, but isn't the spine always shaped differently with kyphosis? If your spine is not rounded you simply don't have kyphosis, you just have bad posture? Will exercises only help against bad posture or also against a hyper curved spine that originated from bad posture?
@AlignTherapyUtah4 ай бұрын
Good question. The spine can be rounded in both functional and structural, but the shape of the individual vertebrae is different in structural. Exercise can help reduce functional kyphosis, definitely! Training to improve strength and posture for structural is also helpful as it helps to improve the available range, even though the bones are shaped different. Short answer, it can help both!
@Wurto4 ай бұрын
@@AlignTherapyUtah thanks for the answer! What is also confusing me is whether structural kyphosis is always something you were born with or whether a functional kyphosis from bad posture will eventually become a structural one over time? Thanks again for the exercises, doing them daily now :)

Today in 2023 pain has raised to both hand and chest rib uncomfortablness along with neck. Hand gets tingling and numb completely sometimes while sleeping. Your videos helpes a lot. I would have to disagree. The way to work with kyphosis is to fo extension. That is the only way to reduce the flexed spine. But, you are correct that it has to be done correctly to avoid arching the low back. Kyphosis can be either functional or structural and poor posture is the functional kind. Structural kuphosis needs more specific treatment but the underlying problem is the flexion, so extension needs to be included, but controlled.

@@AlignTherapyUtah I dont have posture kyphosis i have structural kyphosis. for someone with structural kyphosis even standing up straight causes pain. when you have structural you have limitations. If i down straight arm pullbacks i get flare ups. if i do dumbell rows flareups. i switched my shoes recently to brooks ghost max and just walking gives me a flare up. i went to pt for 1 year horrible pain.

@@Spidermonkeys29 sorry to hear that. It has to be gradual but if you stay in flexion (i.e. kyphosis) then it reinforces it. To improve it, you have to work against it. In your case maybe more gradually. This video is more guidelines. If you are having pain with it, I would highly recommend the Schroth Method.

Good point! Make sure to keep the low back neutral and not arch. I should make another video showing this. Thanks!

@@AlignTherapyUtah You should call someone with kyphosis and try this with him.

Im struggling to do this even without the weights due to TOS but i believe the TOS is caused by my hypnosis and posture but i cant seem to fix the posture due to the TOS. Feeling very trapped and not keen on TOS surgery if due to kyphosis as of high failure rate and the risks involved. Or would surgery help release all that fibrosis bands that are causing this state to thwn be able to work on posture. Its hard to do when eveything so tight jacked up and compressed . I can't seem to make any positive progress and am in severe disabling pain both nerve and muscle wise

@@beatz3279 sorry to hear that. I assume you have worked with a therapist on this. I would highly recommend manual therapy to loosen things up.
