Very useful Francis!!!!! Deffo need more of these videos for new drivers as I find them very useful. There are 2 problems I find myself getting into all the time as a new driver 1 - people drive toooooo close to the back of my car and it really infuriates me 2 - there are so many people on the road that just randomly change direction without indicating or just make dangerous manoveres from nowhere. As a new driver these things are extremely scary. So I bought a dash cam and with the footage I have I could make a you tube channel already 😂
@nzlittlebeeАй бұрын
Oh my gosh, I relate to this so much. The tail gating is quite intimidating. Sometimes I've pulled over just to let someone pass me, even though I'm not going too slow. I also relate to others re indicating. A lot don't seem to indicate correctly on roundabouts or lane changes and having someone near me move lanes out of nowhere with no warning is scary! A dash cam is a great idea 😊
@alisont308Ай бұрын
Dash cams are an essential, helped me out when someone drove into me a month after I got my new car, had such good footage of the other driver pulling out not looking, found no fault to me. I also hate people pulling up behind me so close, just no need, I always leave a good gap. I find everyone always seems to be in a rush, I always allow extra time.
@keith6400Ай бұрын
1 Tailgaters are easy to deal with. If you have the extra space ahead of you as the main man indicates in the video you do not have to instantly react to the situation ahead. as you have given yourself time. If there is someone close behind the space ahead of you allows you to slow down more gradually when required. What you are avoiding is sudden hard stops which can involve a rear end collision.

you just gotta rationalise it out. like everyones in a rush and no one on the road cares about you or what you're doing in your car. you can make mistakes and you might feel like youve got in someones way but realistically you've probably only held them up for under 5 seconds and in another 5 seconds they'll forget about you completely

These tips were super helpful! I just got my first car after 18 months of saving and not having driven since passing in May 2023. I was booked in to go get dashcams fitted in my car today but was too nervous to drive there on my own because of 2 big scary roundabouts on the way. 😢 I was so excited to get my first car and now i'm terrified to do a 7 minute drive to Halfords, I feel so silly!

I'm super chuffed with myself !! It's took me until the age of 52 to learn and I've passed first time 😊🎉 I lost my husband in September of this year to lukemia , and he was my the obe I did all my practice with . I was so nervous thinking will I ever be able to drive with someone else supporting me ?? I've been learning since August 2023 and had proper instructor since January of this year. I was determined to keep my test date on 13th November despite losing my husband , it's been a very awful time , thinking I wpuld never be able to continue. But I did it !! He will be so proud I'm sure !! I'm still amazed but I'm actually feeling really calm behind the wheel . Thankyou again fir your videos and tips it's really really helped me xxxxx

Thanks for the tips. Waiting for my car be delivered since it's 17 miles away from my home and just to take my Jaguar XE and drive straight in unfamiliar road especially I drove manual and this is automatic and I have no experience so the best way to start is right from your home in familiar places in a quiet times in the evening.
@ArkhamDeluxe22 күн бұрын
That is probably the best way but for some reason my car was in Woking and I picked it up and drove it down to London and it was basically the first time I drove an automatic after learning in manual 😂😂 I'd say if someone tackles a big trip early with their first car, that will just relieve most of the stress or anxiety a person would have as your subsequent trips will be simpler in comparison.

This was really helpful. The driving too close to cars is definitely something to be mindful of as a new driver. Often very easy to lose spacial awareness when your focus becomes on getting to your destination quickly. Better to leave more time, be late and keep a safe distance than get yourself too close to the car in front. Quick question Francis I use a Tom Tom for sat nav but if I want to use my phone for a sat nav does it have to be in a sat nav holder securely or can it be left on the side providing your not touching the device? I’ve been avoiding this method for sat nav due to uncertainty

It takes practice and experience. Don't be too hard on yourself about making mistakes or not being smooth. Your instructor probably had a newish car that's a lot easier to drive than what you've got now. It takes time and you just need to get from a to b. As long as you do it safely we're all good

I feel horrible to admit this, but the day I passed my test I was out driving and my brother sent me a message, and I could see as I put it into a phone holder. I was just going around a small road and I was getting ready to click the notification before I realised it was really stupid. Since then I've just thrown my phone into the back or kept it in my bag so I physically cannot touch it but I can Bluetooth it. I also don't use the phone holder unless I'm using my phone as a sat nav.

My boyfriend had the same situation, but they were the same brand, model and colour. The cars were practically identical, just the registration number different. The thing is as long as im progressing into the space all is good and i know whats around me its fine. Nobody is going this person cant drive. They can see the. space is extremely tight . Safety! It’s very easy to think once you’ve passed you can drive how you want to drive but actually driving the way you were taught is how you should drive all the time. For instance driving too close to cars. It’s something that new drivers can very easily start doing but actually it can be very dangerous and often causes accidents on the roads. This isn’t to be doom and gloom but new drivers should always be mindful about what they are doing and not take a blasé approach.

Most people would place to the far right of the windscreen. so you can see it but it's not blocking your view. I think perhaps the best ones are the ones that attach to your vents. Then they're not in the windscreen at all but still easily seen. Note though that vent holders wont attach to all vents. I learned this the hard way!
