I'm born and raised in Arizona, I remember when Jodi Arias killed Travis. There's so much more to the story, and her trial is something to behold. The other inadvertent photos at the time she was killing him are morbidly fascinating. She stabbed him 27 times, almost decapitated him, and then shot him in the head with .25 caliber gun. If anyone actually deserved the death penalty, it would have been her.
@stephaniebaker60012 жыл бұрын
I agree. AZ has the death penalty, so I wonder why she didn't get it? (I should read more about this, but UGH! She is just so scary and I'll have nightmares about this psychopath!) 😰
@emeraldoctopusss2 жыл бұрын
@@stephaniebaker6001 She didn't get the death penalty because there was a hung jury during the penalty phase the first time. When they tried a second time, one of the 12 jurors held out resulting in a hung jury again. In this state, if they don't get it on the 2nd try, it's an automatic life sentence from the judge. There was a lot of controversy over that decision.
@goodboy37002 жыл бұрын
She's a woman, they tend to be given leniency.

From what the jury had said afterwards, the first time around it was a man who wouldn't vote for the death penalty (they believed he had some affinity for her), and the second time it was a woman who they said wouldn't negotiate at all to the point they asked for an alternate juror to take over but it was denied and they ended up 11 to 1.

@@emeraldoctopusss It makes sense that it has to be a unanimous vote, but she was absolute crazy, she shouldn't be given affection & they should have sentenced her accordingly. @Katherine Lewis Right. I get what you're saying. We do lie and some of us do kill, but I just think what seperates us from monsters, is our ability to feel or at least show remorse. A "monster" by definition, is a person who excites terror through wickedness or cruelty. This wasn't a crime of passion that just happened in a moment of anger, this was premeditated. To stab someone in the shower 28 times, to slit their throat? That's a level of brutality you only see in horror movies. And if she had a gun the entire time, why not just shoot him and get it over with? Because she wanted him to suffer. And I'm not trying to condemn your way of thinking, but for her to do all of that, drag his name through the mud in a court trial in front of everybody, and then to say "I can't look at my victim's family because they remind me of my "abuser"...?" That is a person with 0 remorse and I just can't call someone like that a normal human being.
@thrallath4 жыл бұрын
Honestly from what was said in the video and what you said it sounds a lot like she had uncontrolled/undiagnosed BPD. If that's the case then I believe that she genuinely thinks shes the victim and is telling the truth about her reasons for being unable to look at the family. If your ever interested you should watch Fatal Attraction. It goes over all the symptoms of BPD and the movie does a pretty good job at showcasing just how bad it can be for both the person with the illness and the ones their fixated on. In Jodie's case that movie might as well be about her.

The first story uncomfortably reminds me a lot of my mother's friend's situation. He was previously engaged to this woman who was incredibly possessive and abusive. I remember when he came to my grad party a few years ago, and the whole time his ex-fiance would stick to him like glue and glare at anyone, male or female, who would talk to him. She never spoke to anyone but him and she even gave me the evil eye when I went up to just thank him for showing up! Then, when he, my mom, and I went out to lunch one day, his phone was constantly buzzing and ringing with messages and calls from her (she must've called him 50 times in a single hour)! More unfortunate stuff happened that I won't elaborate on, but trust me when I say it was bad. It may sound like I'm exaggerating, but there were times were I genuinely feared for his safety. Thankfully though, my mom's friend managed to safely leave the relationship with that woman and is now doing much better both health wise and mental wise. He even found a new, not crazy and incredibly sweet girlfriend~

Wow, that story you told gave me the chills. I don't know how anyone can stand someone who is so possessive. My first boyfriend was possessive, although not nearly as bad as your friend. I broke up with him, (it took 2 tries). I never went out with anyone like that again !! The partners of these people either get out safely or spend years enduring misery. The story of Amero torments me every time I drive to my Daughter's home. The drive to her town takes you right through the town that was once known as Steelhead Haven near Oso, Washington, a town that was wiped clean off the face of this rock on March 24th of 2014. 43 people were buried in a blink and all evidence of the town was gone. As I drive to my Daughter's home, I am made to look at the barren scar of the mountainside, a wall of rock, dirt and mud that fell away that day with enough material to bury the highway under a mile of up to 40 feet deep in some places and erase lives like no other force on earth. RIP Steelhead Haven. OSO STRONG.

As a Colombian, Armero is well remembered here. One of, if not THE biggest singular historical event in our past 100 years (along with the assassination or Jorge Eliecer Gaitan in 1949). Everyone in the country knows about it, knows about Omayra and has heard her story. I hope that has helped people fear and respect nature. Colombia isn't frequently struck by natural disasters. At all. Very few if any earthquakes, no tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, so we're just not used to dealing with them.

The whites of her eyes or sclera are basically filled with blood. This is due to the micro capillaries (small blood) vessels in her eyes rupturing. And this gives this eerie look to the poor girl. As far as I looked up her condition is probably due to girl having both hypothermia and as a result succumbed to an infection that went on to full blown septicaemia and that's what caused this look by swelling her face etc. As an E. I was a kid myself when Omayra died. We were given daily, if not hourly updates on the news and in newspapers about the rescuing attempts. I realize just now that it lasted only three days (which is horrible enough as it is) but as a child, I felt like it was weeks before that poor girl finally died. We were discussing the rescue at recess with my classmates and we were so hopeful for her. She was just slightly older than we were and her death made us cry. After all those years, I never forgot her name and her face. I was horrified that pictures were taken of her until the end. This tragedy did a lot, back then, to build the ethics and personality of the adult I became.

First off, I love your channel and you have a gift for telling stories. I appreciate your empathy for all people involved and how you never judge anyone in the stories or try to make it funny or over the top. Second - I'm sure someone has already mentioned this in the comments somewhere but I felt the need to share it - I followed the Jodi Arias trial from start to finish and watched it on TV as it was happening. Not only did she shoot him, she shot him multiple times and stabbed him and slashed him all over his body and then nearly decapitated him. She even stabbed the bottoms of his feet as he was trying to crawl away from her. Then she smeared his name in court and lied and acted like a total psychopath. She is disgusting. She is exactly where she belongs. She is scary and unhinged. You did a great job telling that story. 👍
