Thanks ! I got a P0300 code that turned out to be a bad EGR on my 96 GMC K1500 5.7L Sierra . It would misfire when stopped at idle, in gear, and stumble on acceleration. I unplugged the 5 pin connector to the EGR and the truck ran great, so I replaced the EGR unit (digital type, no vacuum lines)

Thanks for the knowledge of the EGR valve..I'm experiencing a misfire at idle expect a bad coil but all this started after cleaning the throttle body and replacing the gasket..think I may have clogged the pipes..or need a new EGR valve

You can also use a temp gun on the intake where the tube connects. If it's gets real hot around the tube at idle it's a good sign the EGR is letting exhaust past.

could the problem be the computer does not like what its seeing when the egr is open by way of the fuel AFR ? faulty egr or symptom of bigger problems?

Yea she done and and been gone for about a week now. Havent heard from her so no news is good news. I suspect the pintle opener on the valve would just hang open at times and cause that improper fuel ratio mixture. The check enging light not setting a egr code because the circuit complete but its trying to compensate for the mixture imbalance..

Hi. I've got an unmodified 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, 164,000 miles, 3.3L V6, 5 speed automatic transmission. Owned by an elderly couple...treated well. Runs smoothly. 10w-30 oil/filter is new and full. Same with transmission fluid. When it's first started it knocks or loudly rattles for 3 seconds. Then it stops. Once warm it will only do the startup rattle about 50% of the time. Exact same noise returns from about 1,800 to 3,200 RPM and then stops. Also, the noise quiets and sometimes disappears between 1,800 - 3,200 RPM if I let off of the accelerator and coast. It also will not do it sometimes if I'm going up a steep hill slowly with the RPMs are in that midrange, under the hill's load. The noise increases in speed and loudness with increasing RPMs. It sounds like 1 or maybe 2 cylinders of the 6, to me. The main bearings and rod bearings were changed. Looked good, some rod bearing wear on a couple but not serious. No rod or crank shaft slop was noted before or after replacement. Made no difference in the noise. The crank was NOT sanded/polished. It throws a P1400 code for EGRC Solenoid Valve error. I don't notice any idling or power issues though. It returns within a few minutes after clearing the code. Could this cause a knocking noise at certain times like I have? It runs smooth cold and hot. I've narrowed it down to 5 things based on its part time occurrence: 1. Flex plate? 2. Timing belt tensioner failing (unknown when last changed)? 3. Torque converter? 4. Hydraulic lifters? 5. EGRC Solenoid Valve? IAC valve caused a random misfire in my 2005 Taurus. Fixed and smoothe.

I had to bypass the egr valve on my 95 Neon I used to have. I think it had gotten carboned up and most times when I pulled to a stop it would idle down and die. I left the electric plug in place and plugged the vacuum hose off and it stopped dieing at stops and ran fine afterwards. It would pass the emissions test too so I left it that way figuring someday I'd try pulling it again and see if it was carboned up because I had replaced it with a new one when I first got the car and it worked fine for a few years after that. The emissions test guys couldn't see the valve and didn't realize it was a early obd2 car so they would sniff test it and make sure the cil was out and it had a cat.

I have no engine codes or check engine light, but I’m suspecting this is my issue. I’ve replaced coils, wires and plugs.. chased every vacuum leak I could find (none).. it runs rough like a misfire at idle.

How bud, EGR valves may not give off a sound. But they can however give off a trouble code. Did your computer set a code? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

Would bad air control valve cause p0300 permanent stored code ? I have soild permanent p0300 code and nothing eles with it to hunt the cause . 1998 gmc suburban 5.7 1500 rough idle and back fire when i accrete and the symptoms goes away just little bit when i drive but still but still i feel it on 40 mil and 50 mil . @@josephbenassi9697 Typical I do whats call a quick learn after any Pcm/Tcm model replace. If you have no way to get this done, simply driving it thru all the gear about a 100 miles should do it,

@@alexfitnesstv6669 not likely, its more probable you have a problem with an oxygen sensor, mass airflow sensor, plugs, wires, injectors. if that's the only code and there are no other running issues, the best over the internet guess would be the Oxygen sensor.

I’m having a p0300 code pending. 2015 Jeep Wrangler. It says random missfire. I’ve noticed it mostly at idle, but down on power when trying to drive away and misfiring. I’ve done a ton of engine work to it recently. Could it be a bad intake seal?

Could very well be bud. But that can be verified by spraying cleaner in that area to see if idle change.

Not sure where to ask questions but here goes. Just bought my first PT. 05 with 45K miles from first owner. test drive was fine. But after taking a 50 mile trip when I got to parked the car tried to stall out and the oil light came on an stayed on. The idle was slightly rough and the AC was on. RPM was about 800. I raised RPM to 1100 and oil light went off and stayed off as well as idled smooth as long as RPM stayed over 1000. Otherwise loving the car so far. Any recommendations for things to plan to replace soon or watch for? Planning to do the timing belt at about 70K miles but worried because the car is already almost 17yrs old and NO CODES.
