I learned a long time ago from an artist that flipping views and directing light from many different viewpoints on abstract art projects is very important . Nice tip!!

Have you ever carved lilac wood. Like a little guy or a spoon. And is it easier to carve it green or dried. I'm worried if it's dry the wood might check so I would have to cut it a bit longer and be hard. Green it might check after the fact. See I live in Fairbanks Alaska and it gets really dry up here. Please let me know. Or anyone else who sees this. Thank you

Thanks for the tips, using a mirror a sculptor friend suggested it to me too, I like to take pictures from all angles... But I'm going to try with the mirror! Often, I put it a few feet away from me and look at it from time to time. And yes, ask no oneHum... I know something is wrong, could you tell me what please? Good tip!

Great video Alec …..lighting is another one ……how the light is positioned and how the shadows are cast on your carving . I carve with a window in front of me with a light directly above . I noticed some of my finished carvings had noses that slightly twisted to the left ! Stop laughing ! It was the light from the window and how the sun moved across the window …..the nose was acting like a sun dial lol . The only place the carvings look correct is by the window where they were carved……I’ve got fifty carved Santas with twisted noses 🎅🏻👃🏻🤪
