Great advice. I'm starting to realize that I should do as much manually as possible until the jobs/money starts rolling in, and only THEN think about buying time-saving equipment. I'm avoiding buying a ladder until I really need it - trying to just do 2nd/3rd levels with WFP for now - but a ladder is kind of an important item to have for window cleaning LOL - It causes questions about how screens can be removed though....is it acceptable to ask clients to remove upstairs screens themselves from the inside?

@sweetwindowcleaningtexas5862

It's your company so you technically could. You will definitely lose a certain amount of higher end clients since they see it as our jobs to remove screens , that's why they pay us is to do the job they don't want to do. I've heard of some guys that say they'll ask for nothing to be blocking windows and to please have screens off and it works for him. Personally I'd say just remove screens yourself but inspect them and let customer know about how stuck or old they are. I'd also keep screen repairing gear in your vehicle once you can to repair any screens you accidentally break OR and most importantly, upsell screen repair with the window cleaning

Thing is what you have to do to keep those shirts good is sweat shirts and hoodies with that stuff on them you can't wash in hot watter and you have to hang them instead of using the dryer because if you put that stuff in the dryer the decals get warm and it messes them up, that's why they start getting shitty after a while

@vansage2691
@vansage2691 3 жыл бұрын
@@sweetwindowcleaningtexas5862 start with a 4gpm machine. You don’t take a shower with 3000+ water so use sh and surfactants. The m5 twist nozzle is all you need with a chemical injector bypass. By a 16” surface cleaner with the right gpm tips matched to the machine. That machine with 200 ft of pressure house will clean a lot of houses and keep you out of the fleet wash and commercial space. You should be able to clean 1200-1500sqft an hr. Shoot for $.15-.20 sqft. Check your business insurance to include pressure washing. Unless you’re dedicating a truck to this service you can’t go over 4gpm. Tell customers you use pool chlorine not bleach. They have algae on their house just like a pool.
@taddmcmichael9061
@taddmcmichael9061 3 жыл бұрын
@@vansage2691 I do not see how a explanation of using Pool Chlorine for algae is suppose to come off to a homeowner as professional, or some impressive knowledge and even being necessary. First of all nothing I use says pool Chlorine since I get drums that say Sodium Hypochlorite. Second you are being hired to solve a problem as a professional service provider and that is the value you bring, which should be your selling point. When you are taking a car to a mechanic do you need to hear them impress you with justifications or is more about them selling you on the confidence that they can correctly fix your car? I am expected to be a professional that will using the necessary professional cleaners on their home. When selling a professional window cleaning, do you think window cleaners proclaim "Hire me I use Dawn Platimum not regular Dawn"? Same with Professional house cleaner proclaiming I am the best guy for the job because I use pool chlorine over bleach, because I am smarter than the average bear.

Wow, and I thought my mistakes were bad. Who in the world buys a $1,400 power washer after taxes that stock PSI is 2,000? with a 2gpm ratio. You know the typical American outside of California or Newyork hose pipe pumps 3gpm. I mean for $1,400 ya could of bought a brand name, commercial power washer at 3.5-4.5gpm with a default PSI of 3,200 -5,550PSI. Three years into my own tree business and have yet to buy business cards, or t-shirts. Word of mouth keeps me always booked for several months and like not tho it’s cold af in Ohio booking power washing jobs for next spring. The one thing I would say about t-shirts if it’s not made in America or Canada your buying crap. Don’t matter how many fancy words they use to sell you. All it is graphics being stamped on your shirts. Plenty of American made shirt providers in the states and even some name brand clothing uses only American made shirts. Not made in China with fake fancy selling points. Start of this I was thinking you would talked about crappy tools you actually use to start and finish a window cleaner. Not garbage R2D2 looking thing that sucks gutters for $6,000 when a $199.00 shop vac with an extended hose fit has more Newton’s, and CFM then that garbage ya bought to clean gutters. Then you buy a power washer made in Germany that uses made in China motors. If you went to Home Depot ya could of spent $299.00 and got more power, gpm, psi at default starting at 2,500 psi cordless batter EV. Heck $1,400 after tax ya could of bought a name brand commercial grade power washer, and a elbow to stay on the ground and power wash gutters. 🙄 lastly you complained your email too long. Use a QR code instead. Use it on your logo, t-shirts, business cards, billing or company letter head. All someone got to do is whip out a smart phone and snap a picture. With QR’s you can track locations of potential clients, you can track the times and how often they use it. Lastly you can stop would be trolls in there tracts who might attempt to cancel you because your a republican and will not bow to democrats and there h1tler ways. Fb, and IG when you make an add you cannot track all that. The only thing you see is view, or a like or comment. QR code’s are smart, use them on websites, apps, automated systems for quotes, your own shirts social media posts or advertising. Unlike fb or IG all that data and meta can be tracked by you not social media. In real time you can see what works and don’t, what sells and what is a waste of your time, money, and effort. Happy thanksgiving tho. Have a great weekend.

I am really surprised that the gutter cleaner is still for sale. If I didn't have this same model already which I purchased last year, I would definitely grab this system he has for sale, especially considering he has the camera system with it. I used to be the ladder guy, nose-to-gutter-guy cleaning them by hand. I hated it but my clients begged me to clean gutters. I priced them really well, and my average job was/is $250. I hated the up, down move the ladder, wear waterproof gloves, get scraped up knuckles and hands on sharp aluminum edges. I used a standoff on every job so I could hustle up and down the ladder quickly, I used the gutter scoop on an extension pole so I could pull gutter junk toward me without having to move the ladder as often. Now with the gutter vac, I clean 95% of my jobs from the ground. You do have to spend 3-5 minutes setting it up, and 3-5 breaking it down, and maybe 3-5 doing a drum dump to dump leaves and water. No different than the time to unload, set up, move a ladder a bunch of times, and put it back on the truck/van. I love the gutter vac so much that I truly believe one person could buy his unit and start a gutter cleaning ONLY business with it. If I had another work vehicle for a second crew, I would have bought his already. The Honda engine is really reliable, it starts first pull every time. I'm usually at a job for less than an hour, and as I said, average ticket is $250 for a gutter job, with a $150 minimum. My unit paid for itself last year. In a couple of MONTHS. I STILL have gutters calls coming in this late in the year, and I probably won't even be able to get to them all because of frozen debris in the gutters, which the vac does NOT remove (I take that back: it comes with a a couple of metal nozzles than can break up ice and pull the debris out, but if/when the gutter thaws the debris that was frozen that the vacuum did not get will still be there, just as it would if you were cleaning frozen gutters by hand and did not get every single last bit of dirty ice chunks), but then again, neither do I. I will not ladder up to chip frozen gunk out of gutters. It's a pretty big purchase to buy, compared to a handful of squeegees and mops or a 4gpm pressure washer for a grand or so, but man, this thing is beast and one guy can EASILY make $1000 a day with this. I know because I do. I keep talking about it because I love it, so I will wrap up by telling you how to sell/market your gutter cleaning using this machine. The two main ways I use are 1, telling the client that no one will be walking on their roof, no ladders will be resting on the house or on the aluminum gutters risking sliding on them or denting them. Clients have a huge fear of accidents happening with workers on their home whether they tell you or not, which is why they ask if you're insured, and someone walking on the roof who could slip and fall on icy or mossy shingles or trying to clean a home really fast because they have 10 jobs scheduled that day is a huge risk. When you tell the client no one will be walking on their roof or using a ladder their ears perk up and they like what they are hearing. The second thing I use to market my gutter cleaning is the camera system. Although I do not use the SkyVac system, I either use my DJI drone or a GoPro camera attached to the elbow of the nozzle that goes into the gutter. When you think about it, gutter cleaning is a "black art" of sorts because we clean them, tell the client we cleaned them, but they called us because they will never go up on a ladder to clean them themselves, so HOW do they know we TRULY cleaned them when they can't/won't ladder up to check? When you can show them a quick 30-60 second video of a couple of sections you cleaned, with some before and after video, they flip out and they tell you no other gutter cleaner has done that before, and you will probably get a customer for life out of it because of that. Good luck to someone who purchases it, and private message me if you have any questions about it!

Silk Screened shirts are worth the extra money. The first shirts you bought, that did not last, are basically iron-on. It had nothing to do with the company you used. I highly recommend people wait until you have they money for silk screen before they get shirts. My first shirts were like yours but did last about 5 years by keeping them in a rotation. My current ones last at least a decade. If you buy a pressure washer you need at least 3000psi. I use a 3200psi Stihl. Highly recommend you get a cleaning Disc. Usually around 18" it can cover a lot of ground quickly. A 2 car driveway takes about 2-3 hours. You just can't use them on aggregate concrete.

Throughout my journey its interesting to see how other companies that "help " your company start up , actually try to screw you lop.
