He mostly included isekai animes that had a plot that was non generic whereas I can say some of the animes you have listed are quite like the one's mentioned in the video. I have watched all the animes listed there otherr than the first three , Dog Days, Wise Man's grandchild, Isekai Cheat Magician and Outbreak Company they are enjoyable and fun but they are not that memorable like you would not recognise the characters after watching 2-3 seasonal animes but the ones listed in the list are the animes that are mostly remembered quite well by the fans who watch it. I know you watched most of them through Muse Asia :)

@@petrinagraham7981 Actually I watch them at Animension. I'm not sure if you notice, Muse Asia anime has some edited out parts in their anime. I noticed it while I was watching Skeleton Knight in Muse Asia. I already watched it in Animension before but when I watched it in Muse Asia I noticed some missing parts. Also one reason why I watched it in Animension was because I also like watching the english dub version. I know some would not like the english version but for me, I had been watching anime since 1990s so I sort of wanted a change of pace instead of always watching it in Japanese dubs. But I watch only english dubs that are good dubs and closer to the original Japanese dubs. Like for me I like Japanese dubs for Konosuba instead of the english dubs, but all the anime I listed I enjoy watching in english dubs.

Konosuba, Re Zero, Mushoku Tensei, How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord and Uncle from Another World are my favs. There are also some Manga/Light Novel only isekai that are also worth mentioning, such as Parallel Paradise, Creature Girls, Into the Deepest Dungeon, Magical Explorer as well as I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire. Those are also worth looking into.

You have no idea how happy I am to see Twelve Kingdoms in this list. It was what got me into isekai and what made my standard on what I expect from an isekai. That's not to say I don't enjoy the now-common op mc in isekai genre but man, Fuyumi Ono's work is just something else. Yes, the anime leaves a lot to be desired but if you can get past the often inconsistent art style, it really is an enjoyable series imo.

You know, for a while this was considered the best Isekai... Then came along the Slime one and people began to put it as the best Isekai, arguably!

Is Reincarnated as a Sword good? I couldn't get in to it and even gave it a few episodes. Same with Skeleton Knight, seemed too... White Night-ish. I have a distaste if the only thing you can do is save women being sexually assaulted and you do it multiple times. How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord was fairly good. Digimon is actually top 5 if we're talking old school Digimon. Shangri-La was touted as being amazing but it didn't keep me. I admit there were some cool things about it but it seemed contrived.

Agreed, Re:Zero is peak. Gotta say though, special place in my heart for the first season of SAO. It was very different at the time and it hit a lot of good spots with good animation and music and a compelling enough story where I only had to suspend my disbelief *a little more* like twice.

Sword Art Online is not an Isekai BTW... Just a .hack type of anime, Log Horizon on the other hand is an Isekai! For the anime to be an Isekai(Another World) people need to leave their world, physically. But other than that, this is the first time in years that I see an Isekai list with actual Isekais, most of the lists around YT have like 10%/20% Isekais and the rest are all just Fantasy, Power Fantasy and plain Reincarnation. Beside missing Log Horizon and Dog Days i felt should have been on this list, but well i am a fan of them both and think they both underrated, but you for sure forgot. My Next Life as a Villainess (Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta) that show kicked that genre in to gear. Reincarnated as a Sword (Tensei shitara Ken deshita) should also been on the list, better then some of the shows you mention. Trapped in a Dating Sim (Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu) and The Dungeon of Black Company (Meikyuu Black Company) are both worth mention. I also feel you forgot to mention that to several of the shows, have great VA casts for the characters, that did you liked em even more and highten the show, forinstance Tanya would not have been so popular if not for the perfect match of the VA voice and character. Ascendance of a Bookworm yes it is a sort of slice of life with humor and smile, but you forget that even with the humor and such it does have the underlying threat from the nobles and those in power that give it a darker feel in between the more light heart feel.

I would even argue that SAO isn't an isekai, since their bodies (and basically also their minds) are still in "our" world, it's just that their minds have been imprisoned in a virtual space, that also exists in the same world, no transportation to other "worlds" or universes/dimensions have taken place. Whereas Log Horizon is different, because they aren't just trapped in a virtual world.

Top 3 are the 3 pillars of the genre for me; Re:zero, Mushoku, and Shadow. Zero for psychological, Mushoku for high fantasy, and Shadow for Parody. I would love to have SAO up there, but after the first season it departed too much for my taste, hopefully Solo Leveling scratches that itch for me. I loved Gate and Tanya as well but military isekai tend to get overshadowed by AOT.

Totally forgot about How a Realist Hero Rebuilt a Kingdom, and now I wish there was more. Show was surprisingly good, though the harem aspects get annoying (like with half of these shows). Another underrated one is Re:Creators. Being stuck on Prime Video didn't do it any favors, but the animation & soundtrack were really memorable.

Forgot aesthetic of a rogue hero.... alot of fan service but I think is pretty solid.. eminence is one of my favorite top animes right but I wouldn't put it over Slime.. although they are both awesome

Personally, I see Arifureta and Cautious Hero way higher on the list. They may not have that good of a production value, especially Arifureta and the quite horrible CGI, but they arent that typical, blend or simple as they may seem on the first look. Arifureta in my eyes has its fair share of parody regarding the isekai genre, e.g. on the harem theme. There somehow is arguably a harem, but its actually always negated to be one and that the protagonist and the female lead are the actual and only couple, just dragging the others along. And for me, I really really like the revenge story and the sarcastic, dark attitude of the protagonist, not giving the least bit of shit about most of his former comrades and only sticking up for his selected group of people dear to him. Something I miss quite a bit about Shield Hero, wich for me became almost "lame" in this regard. It is okay, that the four heros evolved in their relations, but the cool aspect of shield hero for me was always that kinda bloodthirst-driven style of fighting, overcoming the consequences and feeling the family like warmth of Raphtalia and Filo. Also i would like an even darker shift with "reincarnated as a slime", like the demon lord evolution due to the deaths of his citiziens but actually keeping it dark and revenge driven. Maybe there will be a twist in upcoming seasons, but right now, "slime" is a bit too... happy and pure good for my taste... A taste that seems to enjoy the "revenge subgenre" quite a lot ^^' One thing i can totally agree on is, that "Drifters" should get a sequel. It's a great show with a lot of epic action and still it is enjoyable, comedic and even slightly informativ to learn about the various historic characters from all over the world. I really dont understand why it never got immediatly another season and i sure do hope, there will be some sequel somewhere in the future. Anyways, thanks a lot for this list! There is still a lot for me so watch and enjoy :)

Oh man I remember seeing 12Kingdoms and Zero back in the day when aired and were gems for diferent reasons. I don't understand why arifuta is on this list but Inuyasha, Now and Then, Here and There, Gargantia aren't mentioned.

I don’t and can’t understand why Re:Zero is so popular. The MC is so insufferable! Most of the problems arise from his active willingness to NOT improve himself. He refuses to train in magic and refused tutelage by the greatest swordsman in the land in favor of being a butler… He chooses to be weak and is lauded for the self-sacrifices he makes, all the while he can’t die. And the revelation behind his ability just compounds this issue. I don’t want to take away from anyone’s like and I respect this is a beloved story to many. I just can’t enjoy it because of the MC. It’s middling at best. If the MC tried to improve himself, that would have been compelling. Again, not trying to steal anyone’s joy.

I stopped watch Zero approx. 6th episodes, felt like the show was going over and over, having a too many Groundhog Day movie. Tried to stay with it but it dragged out too much. Can't tell if it stays that way forever or not.

Vinii best video for a while now, I used to be into Super Powered and punk style anime till a friend recommended me Sword Art Online. It was my first Isekai, though I have learned I actually seen other Isekai in the past that was labeled Super Powered... But it was the first one and I fell in love with it.. Then I Watched Overlord, Fell fully in love with the show, I was drawing the characters and feeling like a kid again.. Then here recently came Death Mount Deathplay when he uses his powers and his demon style voice comes out.. Gooseeebummppss.. and now I just dont have a favorite because I have fallen for mostly the entire Genre. I cant thank you enough for the recommendations from videos, This Video has given me 4 more to check out. Thanks!

It's the #1 most underrated I ever seen. Can't believe many people saw similar show on the Netflix loving it and not seeing this one. Also, can't believe I have not seen this one on the list on many KZbin videos. The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far and don't forget The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent.

Thanks for the description of SAO... SAO receives so much hate now... A lotta people i meet online, in groups just hate it without knowing why... Majority I'll ask we'll claim, poor story, and then i ask for them to explain, nothing.... Or they claim after the first arc the story went downhill which is nothing but bullshit, i mean, if anything SAO really built the story, from just Full dive virtual game, to an actual AI world...
