My father took my mom out on a date, when he came home he walked in the door and said, "Boys grab your coats!" He took my brother and I to the theater and we watched the first Star Wars movie. It was the most incredible movie experience I have ever had. It was so far ahead of its time with the special effects and story line. I feel privileged to have been one of those who had the chance to see it when it first came out. By the way I have never seen my dad excited about a movie either before or after. It was awesome!

The original star wars. My uncle said in the theaters when the ship flew past in the first seconds of the film he thought. " thats a big ship. " then a few seconds later when the star destroyer keeps flying overhead and just kept coming he said. " Oh no, thats the big ship!"

I had the same experience, magnified because the movie was being played in a 785 seat, single screen theatre and the only seat I could get was down in the front row!

Saw it from the first row of the balcony of an old movie palace type theater in 1977. The opening was indeed jaw dropping, but the reaction when they make the first jump to hyperspace I felt the whole balcony move and everyone slammed into their seat backs like we were on the Falcon.

little known fact is that the MCU wouldn't have existed without blade. Whilst it wasn't a huge success, it did make a profit, money the production company needed after selling off their best IP (spiderman) It proved that comic book live action movies could be profitable and so they started planning the MCU, Ironman came out and pretty much set the benchmark for the rest, many consider Blade as the foundation like a building upon everything else was built.

I only saw Star Wars because I had nothing else to do that afternoon. I took in an early afternoon show- and sat through it three times. They didn't kick you out in those days. I did not move from my seat. The only reason I did not stay for the late show; my eyes could not take anymore. It was spectacular.

I missed the original release of Star Wars, sadly. But just before Empire was released, my local cinema did a re-release of Star Wars, including a super-length trailer for Empire at the end. Not exactly an end-credit scene, but the ancestor of one. The theatre was packed… it was 1980, and VCRs hadn’t been invented… nobody had seen any of these characters in like 3yrs. We all needed a refresher before seeing Empire. I remember playing the audio… thing. Not just the music tracks, all the audio from the movie. We made due. And when “and Special Guest Star Billy Dee Williams” appeared, the crowd went nuts. Not that ep4 had NO named stars in it… Alec Guinness and Peter Cushing had real clout. But most of the famous people in that movie are famous because of that movie.

Only one Lord of the Rings scene? Wow. Theoden and the Rohirrim entering the Battle of the Pelenor Fields in Return of the King? The Balrog entering the chasm to face Gandalf. Smaug's scene in Hobbit trilogy was great, as was the moment in Battle of Five Armies when King Thorin and his company finally joined the battle with the giant bell breaking the wall and ringing. You should've mentioned at least a couple of those. Thanos 1000% deserved a spot on this list. Emperor Palpatine's entrance in Return of the Jedi, as well as Yoda's entrance to confront him in Revenge of the Sith, both were great. Darth Maul igniting his double-blade and Yoda's first on screen fight vs Dooku were also MAJOR cinematic events with reactions similar to Avenger's Assemble. Maybe list a couple of those rather than mentioning Vader THREE times. Hulk's entrance and subsequent ass-whooping at the hands of Thanos in beginning of Infinity War was an imprinted memory in cinema, as well, although you could include that for a Thanos entrance. For Dark Knight, I feel his entrance at the end to defeat Bane, after escaping prison with a broken back, was bigger than in the beginning of the movie. Black Adam had an amazing entrance in his film, which get's forgotten too much. Very fun character to watch. Glad you had Dr Lecter. How about Simba returning to face Scar in original Lion King? I know, it's animated, but still... I could go on and on. Some of the ones you did list I don't think deserved to be above the ones I just listed, but hey, it's opinion.
