Sweet! I'm so glad you included Margret White instead of Carrie. Yes, Carrie did the killing, but much like Norman Bates, she was kind of along for the ride. Leatherface is interesting because you can kind of see what's going through his head. Especially in the second one. Where as some slashers are just slabs of meat, you can kind of see the gears turn for Leatherface.

To be fair, the ship was more of a setting than an actual character so a case could be made that it doesn't merit being on a list of top characters. Even Sam Neill's character in that movie just becomes a standard "evil crazy guy" with nothing much to distinguish him from anyone else in the genre after he finally cracks. (Also, if you want to have settings count as characters, *NOTHING* beats out the cabin from the original Evil Dead.)
