Saved to my notes. I've been doing a method thats not specifically trying to be sp1200, but, i'd double the speed of a sample and reduce it to 12 bit (i forget if i would speed it up first or reduce the bit first at the moment), then i load that sped up sample and slow it back down to normal/preferred playback speed. sprinkle some compressor on it. Your notes may save me time if i do a batch convert process

Somewhere in your master settings you can choose what hardware unit you want the MPC One too sound like, MPC 60, SP1200 etc

This Air Lo-Fi is necessary when going for that boom bap sound. Since mostly all the new sample packs and drum kits come at 24 bit, you could never achieve that grittiness without doing this, or loading them into those older machines

Yes coming from my 2000 XL to these new machines it’s been amazing but they sound a little too transparent and lack the grit from the older machines but thankfully there’s these type of plug-ins that help a lot to add grit to your sound this is a definitely go to plug-in for me.

no sir, using the Master Compressor default present with Oldskool on, as well as the regular SP1200 plugin, both on the master bus. Maybe a parametric EQ to boost lows.

I use the mighty Synthstrom Deluge, but I just got an MPC for its more digital friendly chopping abilities. Together, they're absolutely awesome production tools! Great vids, dude.

I have been truly struggling with the Deluge trying to learn to sample on it. I cut my teeth on the MPC, and the Deluge is just so unintuitive in this regard. Love everything else it has to offer though.

Oh man it’s funny you mention this, don’t worry because that happened to me too I was trying to do some parallel compression but notice it was not working since there’s some type of phasing issue going on. So it’s something that they would have to fix in an update.

But that says a lot, as there’s some phasing going on there must be a short time delay from those returns. I rarely use the returns and if I put a Reverb I just go ahead and inserted on though program itself.

Honestly I have my 2000 XL and I don’t really use it at all now that I have my MPC ONE, even though I don’t use it I will never sell it because it’s a classic drum machine but that’s the only reason why I will hold onto it personally. My MPC one does everything my XL does and much more

Hello, I was wondering, what is the difference between using send/return for plugin effects vs just putting those effects directly on a track? I'm lost when it comes to send/return, and sidechaining effects. Thank you.

Hey brother, great question by the way, and one of the biggest benefits of putting a time base defect or plug-in something like a reverb or delay in the sand return would be that you could send multiple tracks to that one reverb plug-in without having to put multiple reverb plug-ins in all your tracks. Hopefully this makes sense but I only use it for reverbs and delays if I want to send multiple tracks

I'm currently trying to find the video where you specifically sidechain the mother ducker plugin for that pump sound. Getting the sample to cut under the kicks. Anyway, thanks for the help! Hey brotha, are you recording those drum samples into the MPC or are you importing them directly from an SD card? If you are recording them in to the mpc I would set your recording level at about -9 to -3db.

That’s a great question, I think you might only be able to do four plug-ins on each track but I might be wrong. I haven’t used the software yet I’ve only been using it in standalone mode.

Awesome video bro, I wish the mpc had more plugins and virtual instruments. Do you know any way to reset the play head back to the beginning? Or can that only be done by using the q-link knob everytime? I dont understand why I cant hit stop twice and reset the playhead back to the beginning

I really enjoy mixing in ProTools but it is a bit pricey. As of right now I have been mixing everything in Ableton which only cost about $100 and it’s very capable.

The MPC 2000xl did have 12 bit sampling. The 16 bit was default sampling.

Right! I'm surprised no one caught that. First and last MPC that was 12 bit are MPC 60 and 60 II, respectively. 2000XL is 16 bit like my 2000

Hi there Torez, these plug-ins come installed on the MPC hardware already so you should be able to find them in your plug-ins list installed on your MPC.

2000XL is a 16 bit sampler. Have you tried sampling into the XL & then resampling into MPC One?

i hate bringing this up but do NOT have your monitor tweeters facing inwards… those are meant to placed vertically anyway but if you’re gonna place them horizontally at least have the tweeters facing outwards for a good stereo image, you’re basically mono-ing out your high end by doing what you’ve done… 😁
