This is perfect. I did IT for years and while I knew what most of these terms are I couldn't describe them at all or explain effectively what they are for or do... I just knew. This has hindered me from getting back into IT b\c i stumble in interviews. laymen term explanations are much better for me as i was self taught and learned on the job...thanks for making these terms sound simple and less intimidating or difficult to explain.
@Cobuman2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure. The biggest mistake employer can make when interviewing an IT person is not presenting them with a problem to solve. That is the best way to gauge someone's knowledge. Instead, they ask generic questions and expect a detailed explanation of what they think the solution is. Meanwhile, you may answer the question with the first thing that comes to mind-which is also correct... but, they were expecting another answer. I wish you good luck in job search.

Many thanks for the videos you provide. They are all very useful for any aspect of working 1st line support. I have been in I.T support for 20+ years and still find you videos useful indeed. I just had my 2nd interview for a job in the UK and watched all your interview prep videos to prepare. Alas, the company didn't question my skills in I.T, they are only interested in my understanding of the Japanese language and Japanese business etiquette. All that preparation for nothing! But at least I could go into the interview with confidence that I'm up to date on current support role aspects rather than going blind into an interview and then getting stuck when they ask me technical questions (even though they didn't - I still had the knowledge prepared).
@Cobuman2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure. There are two main reasons for my videos. One is a refresher and second is confidence builder. Especially for the interview questions. You did everything proactively which is the key to success. I hope you get the job. Best of luck to you.

Man I should try to get into IT. I grew up in the era when microcomputers were new. I understood the BSOD screen was caused by an IRQ interrupt error (Another hardware device on that system is using the same IRQ # as another component and there is nothing in place to handle the changing of IRQ's in this instance for some reason, so remove the hardware that was just installed, or change the IRQ if there is a way to manually change that number these days). I thought they solved that problem when they started making everything plug 'n play. All of us use this technology every day, we know alot more than we realize, almost everyone should be able to qualify for IT.
@Cobuman2 жыл бұрын
That's still the case with BSOD. Mostly hardware related but sometimes software can cause it as well. With your understanding I'm sure you can get in to IT. People tell me all the time that they were able to get IT jobs just by watching youtube videos.
