I was a 400m runner but did cross country at school ran 17min..but struggled over 1.2km to run fast but ran 48 sec 409m 10.5 100m

I started parkruns 8 weeks ago after starting up running about 6 months ago.. first week 21:33 and pretty much got quicker every week bar one or two. PB is 20:14 but that's outside parkrun and I am so desperate to get sub 20 at parkrun but it's so hard and my parkrun route is tricky as some incline, half grass and also has some turns which means you almost come to a halt, therefore my parkrun PB is 20:40 (or 20:27 according to strava). trying sooo hard but it HURTS.

I’m a new subscriber to you and also a new runner. I am a 24 year male, in my entire life I have been running no more than 5 months or 280km in total. My first ever run was a 3k which I ran in 12 mins. Based on this info and also the fact that I am super motivated: how far do you think I can get on my 3, 5, 10, half and marathon? Let’s say by the age of 30. My garmin predicts that I can now run a 18:15 min 5k. My best 10k is 40min.

Well there's only one way to truly find out.. Give it your BEST shot! Go get it! Use those Garmin times as a solid challenge.

It’s funny when runners like this used to do a 25 5k, I know a guy who was sub 20 his first parkrun 5k and now can’t get under 25 minutes and when he’s training himself struggles to break 9 minute miles on average… weight gain and alcohol doesn’t help him though 😂 I thought he would be a brilliant runner but has actually went backwards in a few years. Just shows you.

Hey mate, yup definitely something I’m always working on. Having come from a non running background there’s still a lot of transformation to be done. Remember I did do these jump squats after a 30k longer run.

I did in my early days. I found that compression socks helped me a lot. But you may need to turn to cross training for a few days and if it gets any worse then it’s definitely worth seeing a physio.

My first 5K was 29mins, 5 months ago. I've ran multiple low 19min 5Ks this year. Only a few months later from zero running experience. I'll be in my mid 50s in nine year time. But if I'm still running, I bet I'll be running a 16-17min 5K easily.
