I literally bought TMNT Turtles in Time about a year before I was able to find a SNES Console to play it on. Best game from my childhood. Really mad I got rid of my SNES Junior as a kid…. Good thing I grew up and had the means to relive it all again.

I only have experience with TMNT and Sunset Riders myself, though never played SR in the arcade. I love the home console ports! Two really great games. I really do miss arcades though. Thanks for taking the time!

I would love it if Arcade1UP made a cabinet that had Sunset Riders on it. Even despite the funky sliding controls!

I spent hours playing friends on NBA Jam and Street Fighter 2. Those two games were unbelievable to play at home. I also enjoyed Outrun and The Avengers on the Genesis. Playing great ports with no need for quarters was so much fun back in the day.

I would definitely include the SNES version of Street Fighter II in the list. It wasn't a perfect port but at the time it was pretty dang close.

At the time, it was a huge win for Nintendo in the console wars getting it before it came out on Genesis.

Ah! The SNES version of street fighter II. I bought it with my own money when it came out. I purchased it from a store called kiddie city in upstate NY. I paid 60 dollars for it and it was worth every penny. All my friends and cousins came over and played it with me because SF 2 was cool at the time.

I like Super Monaco GP for the Sega Master System. It is a totally different game, without being worse in my opinion. They removed the boring qualification and added two player support. One of the absolute best games on the SMS.

The Saturn stunner is nice but Please take a look at the Logic 3 Predator 2 Light Gun it works with Guncon game, PS1, Ps2, and Sega Saturn.

Not sure if this qualifies, but I loved King of the Monsters 2 for SNES. Obviously the Neo Geo version would be better if you could afford it, but the SNES version was still pretty good and even changed the charge mechanic so you could buffer it.

I would say my three favorite arcade to console ports would be... 1. TMNT 2 on the NES. The extra two levels were great, as well as the addition of the mutant fly version of Baxter Stockman. 2. Gradius III on the SNES. While it does suffer from a bit of slowdown, I find it amazing that Gradius III was able run on any of the 16 bit consoles. Especially for it being a launch window game. That bubble level still is visually impressive today. 3. Street Fighter Alpha 3... go for broke on the PS1. I played the PS1 version before the arcade version. I was so surprised to see how many game modes and fighters were cut in the arcade version. The PS1 version is, in terms of content, far superior to its arcade counterpart.
@RetroBirdGaming4 жыл бұрын
The PS1 port of Alpha 3 was converted much better than a lot of the other Capcom 2D fighter ports on the console as well.

I loved the TMNT game as a kid, but it has aged horribly for me. It is soooo repetitive.

How do you feel about arcades and barcades returning after the pandemic? My local town has a free play time limit arcade and it’s an awesome experience to be able to itch that nostalgia from going to arcades as a kid or playing at the laundromat. It’s been a welcome return for me personally. Being able to play HD modern games at home on my console or jump over to the arcade to play some classic racers or a good beatemup makes me excited for the future. It’s also going to be a fun way to bring your kids into the world of retro in the 2020s. Will it be short lived or last quite a while?

I just wish the simpsons game had a chance to be on this list. 😭

Right? Most of the best games from back in the day had home console ports but a bunch of beat 'em ups didn't. Probably because so many of them were based on popular properties and there were licensing issues bringing them home. The Saturn could've done them all justice, I tell ya! Man, I love that machine haha. The one that just bums me out to this day is actually Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Still to this day that game has no sort of official release of any kind. The license can't be that hard to get. My dream Arcade1UP would be a 3-player Alien vs Predator Cabinet that also has Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and anything else thrown on there would just be a bonus. I think it's only a matter of time before Arcade1UP does a Simpsons cab and 6-player X-Men Cab.

@@RetroBirdGaming , Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was so damn good and loved here in my country on Chile ! I really hope that someday could come out of licensing hell.

I was sure that Strider on Genesis would appear on your list. I would suggest Street Fighter II on SNES; its accuracy blew me away back in the day.
@RetroBirdGaming4 жыл бұрын
The genesis port came out in 1990 (both US and Japan) but the arcade game of Strider actually came out in 1989 so it's technically a 80s arcade game. Close but not quite!
