Interesting list, Peter. We don't see some of these here in Ontario. My 5...... 1) Plain old Jamesons, 2) Sexton Single Malt, 2) Bushmills Black Bush, 4) Writers Tears (but not the CS), 5) Jamesons Cask Mates Stout. And my 6th....... Lambays Small Batch. Hope you get your 2k subs! Your content deserves them!

Thanks Glenn. I don't think I'll get to 2K, but I had a good bump in subs over the past month. The channel is going well and I'm sure 2K will come soon enough. I like your list. I still need to try the Sexton. People have been saying good things about it.

Wow Peter..!!! 🥃An eclectic assortment of Irish whiskey. Very nice..!!! My journey started out with Irish whiskey, so I have a special appreciation for the Celtic spirit. I like your list. The only bottle I would replace is the Silkie with the absolutely wonderful Teeling Blackpits. And since you mentioned your fondness of PX finished bottles, give the Dunville's PX 10 a try..!!! My special 6th bottle would be The Irishman 17.

Blackpits and Dunville will be making an appearance in part 3. Great minds think alike! Cheers!

Grew up on Irish whiskey so you can say I am a huge fan. You picked out some great bottles. I currently have every bottle you mentioned open except for the WT I am out of cask strength and just have the two basic bottles. Knappogue Castle is one of my absolute favorite lines 12 & 12 masrala , 14 , 16 & 21. All fantastic and not a progression but different and better than the one before. I go through bottles of 12 constantly.

When I first started drinking it was Irish the got my into whiskey. I will always have a love for it. Knappogue Castle only solidified that fact further. Thanks again for all the comments. I appreciate it. Cheers!

Peter, you came out swinging with the Redbreast 12 CS on this one. I was thinking that was going to be the special pour. 😂 Very nice flight though! I may have replaced the Yellow Spot with one of the Green Spot wine cask series. I love the apple notes in those.

The first pour might be a little too much, but remember "this group" has been slowly increasing their ABV's over the months with all the different whiskeys and the special pours. So I figured I'd hit them with something hard and then soften them up with the Yellow Spot before the peat. Keep them guessing and on their tows.

Really liking your channel! Redbreast 12 was the bottle that got me started on my (11 month journey) and my son gifted me a Redbreast 21 that’s really nice. I also enjoy my Yellow Spot, Red Spot, and looking to get the Blue Spot!

The higher proof Blue Spot is intense. Expensive, but good. I think it can hold its own with the RB12 CS.

@@whiskeyisajourney The bottle is super gimmicky and you'll spill all over the place the first few times you pour it, but it's a steal at the price. I actually prefer it over Redbreast 12 🤫

The lower proof Redbreast 12 or the Lustau may be better for beginners. Nice to share your choices with good friends, but will they buy the pricy bottles? Single pot still is not the same as single malt. Limavady sounds great.

Redbreast 12 was in my first beginner Irish video. In part 2 was a chance to elevate to another level. Thus the higher proof offerings. As far as buying the bottles, yes I think they would buy is they liked them.

Nice job yet again brother. You know I'm not a fan of the taste whiskey, but I can SMELL Green Spot all Day. I can't get enough of that apple smell. It also tastes good mixed with my Skrewball!! Funny how we can remember getting our mouths washed out with soap, but not the words that caused it. 🤔It didn't keep me from becoming a potty mouth though! I can't wait for Monday's video!! What am I tasting this time? Cheers!!

Trying the Redbreast CS tonight for the first time. I'm guessing it's a world of difference from the 12-year at 40%. I haven't had Yellow Spot yet, just Green Spot. The Dark Silkie is on my list to try. I really like Connemara and Teeling Blackpitts for peated Irish Whiskeys.

Have fun with the CS tonight. Let me know what you think of it. I hope it lives up to the hype. I go back and forth between Redbreast 12 CS and the Yellow Spot as my go-to Irish. I like them both very much.

@@whiskeyisajourney I wasn't sure what to think at first, but then I threw it in a tumbler with a large ice-cube and suddenly all the flavors opened up. I rarely do that, but I'm glad I did. Very, very nice!

Solid list. Irish is a bit of an enigma, logic seems not to apply. I'm still trying to work out how Teeling have a 37 year old when they only started distilling in 2015? I think my list would not be particularly beginner friendly! Redbreast 12 CS, Red Spot 15, one of the Method and Madness, Connemara CS and Powers John's Lane.
@whiskeyisajourney
@whiskeyisajourney Жыл бұрын
Base on my research John Teeling owned Cooley Distillery in the 80's and when he sold to Beam in 2012 he negotiated into the terms that his sons would receive 16,000 casks of the existing stock so they can open the current Teeling Distillery. That would be my guess as to why they they have 37 year old whiskey. Red Spot will make it into my part 3 video...I'm still on the fence about putting in a Method and Madness or not. Either way I like your list as well. Cheers!
@petevj
@petevj Жыл бұрын
@@whiskeyisajourney yes, it's a Kilbeggan 37 year old, which is what they should call it. It has no relationship to the Teeling distillery, merely to the family.
