Sure, they have that problem but they are dogfight planes, they are not interceptors, a ki44 and a zero are tremendously maneuverable and offer a small target (especially the ki44 which for me is much better than the zero for several reasons)

Also, think that whenever you have an enemy at your six, even if it's a ki10, they can simply ruin you if they shoot you in the right place. We can talk about surviving punishment, but ultimately, a little more or less at your six, you're screwed.

I don't like the raiden at all, that style of plane only works for boom and zoom, (I feel like it's a cowardly hit and run) just like the j7w, I prefer a ki44, a zero, a ki100, ideal for battling and having fun maneuvering. For me, the best within the Japanese branch is between the reppu a7m and ki84

I haven't got to research the hayate yet, but I have the reppu and gosh I love it I have the A6M5 ko as well and it's thanks to that plane I have the reppu, but the low speed while meeting planes with very strong engines makes it hard to play

I sort of agree with most aircraft choices in that list but the order will be different for me. 1: the Ki 43-I (by extention all of them) 2: the ki 61 otsu 3:Ki-44 4: A7m 5: Ki-84 I'd like to add the zeros however I don't actually like fighting in them. The flying performance isn't the problem its the guns. They suck..............or at least they could be better. Its the same reason why I picked the Ki-61 otsu specifically. If it were me its would just be all 12.7mm guns. No small mgs no cannons. Its a good gun, fires good rounds and has a fair amount of ammo. You could add cannons (the B7a2 has good cannons) but I like just using one type of gun for my aircraft. I don't really understand the ki-84 well enough to put it anywhere good. Ive not had a good time with it though I'll say that. Maybe if I get the ki-74 hei maybe I'll see an improvement. It feels bad at everything. Even manouvrebility. The A7m seems alright I don't have much complaints about it yet. I find her just a larger, naval Ki-61 so its not awful.

whenever you play japanese planes, its either you get one enemy plane destroyed and then get your plane destroyed, or you got shot down by the enemies and no kills all through out the match

1.) KI-43-III: absolute joke of a machine, genuinely a UFO, feels like playing Ace Combat 2.) KI-84: really well balanced, has some decent speed and energy performance while still being able to outmanouver almost everything and great guns that are easy to aim. If not for battle ratings it would be tied best 3.) J2M: the spaceship, step one; take off, step two; climb, step three; profit 4.) A7M: another nicely balanced plane, very maneuverable while still feeling "normal" to fly, doesn't have cripplingly slow top speed, good weaponry, can survive a couple shots unlike its predecessor 5.) KI-83: One of the best if not the best heavy fighter in the game, fast, great guns and surprisingly has pretty decent turn performance, the one taps you get in this thing are funny Elephant in the room no Zero for me, I actually don't like it very much, the weaponry is slightly lacking and unforgiving, it's very slow and while it makes up for this in maneuverability it handles quite weird to me I can never get the hang of it, the KI-43 is a better turner but that thing is literally an arcade vehicle so it feels good, while things like the J2M, A7M and Ki 84 turn well but still feel like a plane, the zero for me is in an odd maneuverability envelope where it feels really floaty and I'm always turning more than I want or I take it easy and I'm turning far less than I want, not easy to control

The ki43III is my least favorite ki43/44. At 4.0 even the slowest planes are insanely fast in comparison to the plane. Also, maybe I’m a skeptic but the type 99 20mm are very good but the Ho 20mm are not even that great. I’ve killed a bomber but only after having spent 180 of my 300 rounds. It’s just an unfortunate plane, and 4.0 is a very high rating for a 2.7 plane with cannons
